A Starry Night celebrating Teachers and Teaching

Thakur College of Science & Commerce (TCSC) organized the “Thakur Awards for Excellence” (TAE) at a glittering function the LaLit Hotel on Sunday 27th March, 2022. The event was organized as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of TCSC where these awards celebrated notable contributions from the members of teaching fraternity.

“Thakur Awards for Excellence” (TAE) organized by TCSC in association with Thakur Ramnarayan College of Arts and Commerce, Thakur Ramnarayan College of Law and Thakur Ramnarayan Public School was presented in the categories of Excellent Teachers, Excellent HOD/Coordinators, Excellent Vice Principals, Excellent IQAC Coordinators, Excellent Principals and Excellent Academicians. Prof. Suhas Pednekar, Hon. Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai was the Chief Guest and Mr. Sudhir Puranik, Registar & I/C Director, NSS, University of Mumbai was the Guest of Honour for the function. Thakur Jitendra Singh, Honourable Secretary, Thakur Educational Trust felicitated Prof. Pednekar while Thakur Ramesh Singh Ex-MLA and Trustee, Thakur Education Trust felicitated Mr. Puranik.

Dr. (Mrs.) C.T. Chakraborty, Principal, Thakur College of Science and Commerce addressed the gathering and provided a quick glance of the 25 years of glory of TCSC. To commemorate the event, a special edition coffee-table book “Reflections” was released by the dignitaries.

Prof. Pednekar applauded the management of Thakur Group for organising the “Thakur Awards for Excellence” and stressed on the need for acknowledging the dedication and hard work put in by the teaching fraternity in shaping the future of a nation. He emphasised on teachers promoting foresighted and innovative pedagogy process and ensuring the students are job creators than job seekers. Prof. Pednekar also stressed on assessing the policy and structural changes in the field of education and the need to adapt to them.

A total of 24 distinguished achievers from across the country were awarded in the ceremony. Dr. Naresh Chandra, Former Pro-Vice Chancellor University of Mumbai and Director (Education), B.K. Birla College (Autonomous), Kalyan, Dr. Tukaram A. Shiware, Director of Education, Hinduja Foundation and Institute of Management, Mumbai and Dr. (Mrs.) Ancy Jose, Director, MKES Group of Institutes and former Principal of Nagindas Khandwala College (Autonomous) were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions as a teacher, mentor and leader whose credible contribution and dedicated service in the field of education is an inspiration for all.

The event was also graced by Management Representatives Thakur Manoj Singh, Thakur Ravi Singh, Thakur Ritesh Singh, Thakur Suraj Singh, Thakur Sagar Singh, Dr. A.K. Singh, Principal, Thakur Ramnarayan College of Law, Dr. Ravish Singh, Principal, Thakur Ramnarayan College of Arts and Commerce and various representatives from colleges across Mumbai.
