Activities & Events Conducted in Academic Year 2025-2026


Department of BAF

Since its establishment in the year 2003 - 04, the department has grown up achieving major milestones. Current Academic Year 2025-26 has been a quite uplifting year for the department due to unlock not only in academics but also in extra- curricular activities. This can be attributed to the dedication and team spirit of students, staff of BAF Department.


Cleanliness Drive

In order to promote importance of cleanliness in society and to sensitize students about maintaining hygienic and pollution free surroundings, a routine cleanliness drive was conducted on 11th December 2025 at Rambaug in association with Mr. and Mrs. Khatri (Recipient of Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar 2007, a National Award on Environment Conservation). 73 students participated voluntarily under the guidance of Dr. Nishikant Jha and Mr. Vishal Vishwakarma. Students and teachers along with Mr. and Mrs. Khatri collected plastic and paper wastes and made the premises clean.




Dance Competetion - National Integration

Department of BAF conducted an online dance competition on theme of National Integration on 31st December 2025 to promote unity in diversity, cultural harmony. Total 12 students from different streams participated in this and accordingly Ms. Samiksha Neve judged the performance of participants and declared the winners as follows: 1st Ishita Chitroda, 2nd Janhvi Ghadavale, 3rd Ketaki Karad 

“Seminar on Career Pathway - Study Abroad”

A seminar on International Study Pathways for Finance, Business & Related Fields was conducted on 1st December 2025 and 2nd December 2025 at Thakur College of Science & Commerce, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The session aimed to create awareness among students about global education opportunities and international career pathways. 167 students were oriented about 2+2 Years study programme with partner universities at USA, Canada, Australia. 

   


Resume Writing Activity

As part of career planning and skill development initiatives, the Department of Business Communication organized a Resume Writing Activity on 23rd January 2026 exclusively for First-Year BAF learners. The event aimed to enhance students' resume-building skills by guiding them to create professional resumes aligned with industry standards. The event witnessed active participation, with 44 students submitting their resumes by the deadline.


FIFO 2026 - 17th Edition

The 17th edition of FIFO 2026 was successfully conducted on 27th February 2026 as a grand farewell celebration dedicated to our Third Year students. With the heartfelt theme “MEMOIRS”, The event witnessed active participation and contribution from 427 students, whose dedication, teamwork, and coordination ensured its grand success. From planning and management to performances and technical support, every student played a vital role in making FIFO 2026 a memorable milestone in the institution’s legacy.




“Swachatta Hi Seva” Awareness

The Department of BAF at Thakur College of Science and Commerce conducted an awareness drive on 13th February 2026 to promote Swachatta Hi Seva and the Swachatta Mohua App. The class-to-class campaign educated students on cleanliness, hygiene, and civic responsibility. Volunteers guided students on using the app to report issues. The initiative received an enthusiastic response from 1,417 students.


Session on Value Education

A Value Education session titled “Character Revamp” was organized by the Department of B.Com (Accounting & Finance) at Thakur College of Science and Commerce on 2/2/2026 at Presentation Room (5th Floor) from 9:30 am onwards, attended by 43 students. The session was conducted by Huma Khan (fashion stylist and costume designer), who emphasized personal growth, moral values, confidence, and professional ethics. The interactive session motivated TYBAF students to focus on character building, communication skills, and overall personality development.

 

Guest Lecture on Career Guidance

The BAF Department organized a Career Guidance and OJT Interview session on 13th December 2025 at 10:00 am for 50 students, conducted by Dr. Vishal Vishwakarma, (BAF Alumni, 2017) Business Head – Leadership Development at Antal International. He shared insights from his professional journey and highlighted the importance of skill development and industry readiness. The session included an interview-based selection process for internships at EduMile India in roles such as Sales, Social Media Management, Graphic Designing, and Video Editing, where 10 students were selected for a three-month Academic OJT, along with guidance on career opportunities in Audit, GST, and ITR Return Filing.

 

Session on EQ

A Guest Lecture on Emotional Intelligence (EQ) was conducted on 22nd November 2025 at 9:30 am for 90 participants. The session was delivered by Sushmita Pandey, (a Chartered Accountant, Emotional Intelligence Expert, and Relationship Coach). The objective of the session was to enhance students’ understanding of emotional intelligence, mindset building, confidence, and personal development. Through practical insights and interactive discussions, she guided students on managing emotions effectively, building a positive mindset, and developing self-confidence for both personal and professional growth.


Union Budget Presentation Competition 2026

The Department of BAF organized the “Union Budget Presentation Competition 2026” on 2nd February 2026 at the Presentation Room, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding of fiscal deficit management, social welfare planning, and financial management skills. The event was judged by Dr. Jatin Patel, Ms. Reekita Fernandes, and Mr. Nilesh Pashilkar, under the guidance of Dr. Nishikant Jha. Participants presented their self-prepared budgets using Excel, acting as Finance Ministers and allocating funds across sectors. The winners were 1st – Aditya Jadhav (TYBIM), 2nd – Omkar Bhondve (TYBIM), and 3rd – Jay Gawade (TYBIM).

TCSC BAF MUN (Model United Nations) 

The Department of BAF organized a  MUN on “Gender Issues” at State Level  on 2nd February 2026 at the Presentation Room, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, under the guidance of Dr. Nishikant Jha. The event was judged by Dr. Aparna Deshmukh (HOD of Biotechnology Department) and aimed to build awareness of state-level gender issues while enhancing students’ research, debating, and policy-making skills. Participants prepared policy proposals (Petitions) through research and discussions. The winners were Prabha Sharma (SYBCOM-I) and Sanskriti Jain (SYBIA) – 1st, Avneesh Natarajan (FYBCOM-R) – 2nd, and Aditya Jadhav (TYBIM) – 3rd.

Career Guidance Session on Introduction to Financial Markets

A Career Guidance Session on Introduction Financial Markets was conducted on 21st January for 200 FY BAF students to provide insights into career opportunities in the finance sector. The session was delivered by Rahul Kelapure, Assistant Legal Advisor at Securities and Exchange Board of India, and Prathamesh Raut, Deputy Manager – Investor Awareness at National Stock Exchange of India. The objective of the session was to guide students on diverse career paths such as financial analysis, investment banking, wealth management, and risk management, while highlighting the importance of financial knowledge, analytical skills, internships, certifications, and professional networking. 

SAMARTH TALKS

The event “Samarth Talks” was organized on 16th December 2025 at Thakur College of Science and Commerce in collaboration with Times Network and Hyundai Motor Company, witnessing the participation of 205 learners. The session focused on the theme of Inclusivity, Equal Access, and Resilience, aiming to sensitize students toward the achievements and challenges of differently-abled individuals. Para-athlete Basavaraj Kundaragi (Indian wheelchair tennis player) was felicitated by Principal Dr. C. T. Chakraborty shared his inspiring journey, emphasizing mental strength and determination. The interactive session encouraged students to understand the importance of inclusivity and resilience in building an equitable society.



CLEANLINESS  DRIVE REPORT


From 17th to 19th June 2025, under the Cleanliness Drive Initiative of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and the BMC, an awareness campaign was conducted encouraging citizens to report unclean areas through the official WhatsApp helpline (81696 81697). A total of 143 BAF learners visited classrooms to inform learners about the helpline and promote civic responsibility. They also conducted an awareness drive at Borivali Railway Station, engaging commuters and the general public. The initiative reflected strong strong student commitment and contributed meaningfully to cleaner community practices.

GST Day Quiz

A GST Day Quiz was conducted on 1st July 2025 to mark the anniversary of the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax in India and to enhance students’ understanding of its economic impact. A total of 960 learners registered for the online quiz, which comprised 20 multiple-choice questions on key GST concepts. The event saw enthusiastic participation across streams, with nine students achieving a perfect score of 20/20. The quiz successfully promoted taxation awareness in an engaging manner, and the organizing team congratulates all participants and winners for their efforts.


MANTRA- Session on “AI & Education”



The BAF Department organized the “17th Edition of MANTRA” on 12th September 2025, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 598 learners. Centred on the theme of AI Learning, the event aimed to enhance awareness of Artificial Intelligence and its growing impact. Dr. Sudhakar Iyer, Professor at SSCMR, graced the event as the guest speaker and delivered an insightful and inspiring session. The Department of BBI emerged as the winner, contributing over 170 participants. MANTRA 2025 reflected the BAF Parivar’s dedication to innovation, teamwork, and collaborative learning








Dance Competition on the theme “National Integration”

A Dance Competition on the theme National Integration was conducted on 14th August 2025 to promote unity, cultural harmony, and creativity among students. 12 Learners participated in the online event by submitting dance videos showcasing their performance and editing skills. The competition saw enthusiastic participation across streams and successfully encouraged students to express their creativity while reinforcing the message of national unity.



TREE PLANTATION DRIVE 2025-26 REPORT


A Tree Plantation Drive was conducted on 19th July 2025 a CARRE initiative, jointly organized by the Departments of Accountancy & Finance and Chemistry in collaboration with Keshavshrushti, Bhayandar (W). A total of 746 commerce learners and nine faculty members, led by Dr. Nishikant Jha (Vice Principal – Commerce), participated. Held at Wada, Palghar, the drive focused on planting fruit-bearing and cashew trees, supporting environmental sustainability and local farmers. Students worked in guided groups, gaining hands-on experience. A brief inauguration and felicitation ceremony took place at Gram Vikas School, followed by a traditional meal hosted by the community. The initiative strengthened environmental awareness and social responsibility among learners.




Rain Harvesting Event


The Rain Harvesting Sessions was conducted on 1st July and 23rd July 2025 at Rambagh, Maharashtra, to promote sustainable water management and raise awareness about rainwater harvesting. A total of 144 learners participated under the guidance of Dr. Nishikant Jha, Mr. Vishal Vishwakarma, and Ms. Khatri. Students learned key rainwater harvesting techniques, observed the system implemented at Rambagh, and engaged in discussions on water conservation. The initiative successfully encouraged eco-friendly practices and strengthened students’ understanding of responsible water usage.



MODEL UNITED NATIONS (MUN) 2025-2026 (Gender Equality)

A Model United Nations (MUN) event was held on 23rd September 2025, featuring 16 participants and guided by guest speaker Dr. Vinit Vaidya on the theme of Gender Equality. Students from eight departments represented assigned countries through presentations, cross-questioning, and a petition-writing round that concluded with a unified consensus document. Dr. Vaidya’s insights added great value to the proceedings. The event concluded successfully, enhancing students’ skills in research, diplomacy, critical thinking, and teamwork.

JASHN 2025

.

The Fresher’s Party “JASHN 25”, welcomed the first year learners in colourful celebrations on 17th July, 2025. The personality title as part of the event was judged by Khushi Khan ,Actress & Performer; Mrs. Purvi V. Rane, Founder, Natraj Dance Academy, and Richie, underground Popping Artist.



ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND EDUCATION SESSION


A session on Entrepreneurship and Education was held on 12th August 2025, featuring guest speaker CA Aswini Bajaj, a distinguished professional with multiple global certifications. He highlighted how entrepreneurial success arises from the right blend of education, practical skills, and effective execution, while also introducing students to opportunities in emerging industries. Drawing from his diverse professional experience, he offered practical insights that encouraged self-reliance and an opportunity-driven mindset. The session was highly engaging and enriched the understanding of 96 learners on real-world entrepreneurial challenges and strategies.







Investor Awareness & SEBI Certificate by UTI MF

The Bachelor of Financial Markets (BFM) department organized an Investor Awareness Program in collaboration with UTI Mutual Fund on 20th June 2025. The session was held at the Seminar Hall from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and aimed at educating students about financial literacy, savings, investment, and market regulations. The session was led by expert speakers Mrs. Nidhi Mehta and Mr. Prem Upadhyay.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 193 students. It provided deep insights into SEBI's role in market regulation, the importance of savings, and investment opportunities available for individuals. Following the session, a SEBI and NISM certification exam was conducted, allowing students to assess their understanding and earn recognition in financial markets.

The event concluded successfully, leaving students with practical knowledge and awareness of financial planning. The top 10 performers in the certification exam were awarded prizes. adding a sense of achievement and motivation among the participants.



GLIMPSE OF FEW BAF SMILE SESSIONS : 

  1. The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 21st June 2025 featured Mr. Anurag Sultania, who secured 99.76 percentile in CAT and is currently pursuing an MBA at IIFT Delhi. 50 SY and TY BAF students attended the session, where he shared practical guidance on time management, study planning, and consistent practice for MBA entrance preparation. The session was highly motivating and gave students clarity on how to begin their CAT journey. Students shared positive feedback, mentioning that the session was very inspiring, gave them a clear roadmap for preparation, and provided structured and helpful tips to boost their confidence. The department extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nishikant Jha for making this insightful session possible.

  2. The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 28th June 2025 featured Dr. Vishal Vishwakarma, an esteemed alumnus of the 2017 BAF batch and a highly accomplished professional. He holds a PhD in Business Management from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, and currently leads leadership initiatives at Antal International. Dr. Vishal is also the author of two books and a multi-talented personality with achievements as a cricketer, martial artist, fitness trainer, poet, and storyteller. His session was deeply motivational, offering practical life lessons and clear guidance for FY students on shaping their future. Students appreciated his honest insights, relatable experiences, and inspiring journey. Feedback from FYBAF A and FYBAF B highlighted that the lecture was eye-opening, impactful, and boosted their confidence in achieving their goals. 60 students attended the session. The department extends special thanks to Dr. Nishikant Jha for organizing this enriching session.

  3.  The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 5th July 2025 featured Ms. Mahek Dubey, an inspiring alumna currently pursuing her MBA at Queen’s University, UK. She guided FY students on the importance of the NEP, participation in co-curricular activities, and how these contribute to strengthening their resumes. Ms. Mahek also introduced the Indeed app and explained how it can help students find suitable internships. Her session was practical, motivating, and focused on time management, prioritization, and consistent effort. Students were highly attentive and found her journey relatable. Feedback from students such as Sneha Maity (2517322), who found the session very motivating, Dilip (2517352), who appreciated the structured tips, and another FY student who shared that they will now take CC more seriously, showed how impactful the lecture was.60 students attended the session.   4. The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 12th July 2025 featured TYBAF student Harsh Rathod, who delivered an informative session on studying abroad for FY students. With his strong academic record and experience working in a study-abroad–related firm, Harsh provided practical insights into global education opportunities, application processes, and the challenges students may encounter. His personal experiences, combined with guidance received from professional counselors, made the session relatable and inspiring. Students found the lecture highly beneficial as it offered clarity on future academic planning. Feedback from Gurnoor (FYBAF C) highlighted Harsh’s dynamic and adaptable nature, while Dhara Inda (FYBAF A+D1) appreciated his engaging and inspiring talk. 50 students attended the session. The department extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nishikant Jha for making this insightful session possible.

  5. The BAF SMILE Lecture was held on 20th September 2025 for FY students, featuring alumna Ms. Manashvi Jadav, an entrepreneur and former Research Committee member.60 students attended the session. She shared her inspiring journey at Thakur College, highlighting her active roles in the Research Department, DLLE, and NSS, and explained how these experiences helped her develop leadership, teamwork, and practical skills. Ms. Jadav also spoke about her tour-based startup launched after graduation, motivating students to explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and balanced involvement in academics and extracurricular. Students found the session extremely encouraging and insightful. Many appreciated learning about leadership and research opportunities, while others felt her entrepreneurial journey gave them clarity and confidence for their own goals. Students from FYBAF A and FYBAF C shared that the session was inspiring, practical, and helpful for planning their future path. The department extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nishikant Jha for making this insightful session possible.

  6. The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 27th September 2025 was conducted with the participation of 50 students and facilitated by senior students Omkarnath Pandey, Aastha, Manasvi, and Sakshi Vichare. They guided FY and SY students on the Field Project (FP) and the auditing internship for Semester 3 and 4, explaining the objectives, methods, and professional benefits of audit work. The speakers also provided a clear understanding of ITR filing and CEP, covering step-by-step procedures and the practical relevance of these processes in the finance field. The session was highly informative, interactive, and helped students gain clarity beyond textbook learning. Feedback from students mentioned that the lecture gave them a clear idea about the Field Project and helped them understand ITR filing practically for the first time. A special thanks to Dr. Nishikant Sir for his continuous support in organizing such meaningful sessions.

  7. The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 8th November 2025 featured alumnus Mr. Darshit Yadav, who is currently interning with the Accounts and Finance team at TNS India Foundation and preparing for CMA. 60 students attended the session. He shared his academic and professional journey, giving FYBAF students a realistic understanding of career growth in accounting and finance. Mr. Yadav emphasized goal-setting, skill development, and perseverance, while also explaining various career opportunities available after BAF. The session was interactive, with students actively asking questions about higher studies and the financial sector. Feedback from Gurnoor Kaur (FYBAF C) described the lecture as inspiring and insightful, while a student from FYBAF B appreciated the clear and practical answers that helped them understand how the real world works. The department extends sincere thanks to Dr. Nishikant Jha for his support in organizing this enriching session.

  8. The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 15th November 2025 featured Ms. Jui Surve, a recent BAF graduate who has successfully cleared CFA Level 1 and is preparing for Level 2. She provided FY students with a clear and practical understanding of the CFA program, explaining its global value, subjects covered, exam pattern, and attempt schedule. Ms. Jui also highlighted eligibility criteria, work experience requirements, fees, and the wide range of career opportunities available in finance, investment banking, equity research, and fintech. She emphasized the need for strong communication skills, leadership, financial modelling, and smart preparation strategies. Her personal journey, especially overcoming stage fear, deeply inspired students to step out of their comfort zone and participate actively.   9. The BAF SMILE Lecture held on 22nd November 2025 witnessed the highest participation so far, with 90 students attending the session. The guest speaker was CA Sushmita Pandey, a Chartered Accountant, Emotional Intelligence Expert, and Relationship Coach who conducts workshops on mindset building, confidence, and personal development. She delivered an engaging and interactive session on Emotional Intelligence, explaining its five key components—self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Her examples and practical insights helped students understand how emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in academics, relationships, and future professional growth. The entire FY class enjoyed the lecture, actively participated, and found the session highly relatable and impactful. The department extends heartfelt thanks for this enriching and motivating session that left students more aware and confident.
