A Guest Lecture on Gender sensitization, ‘Breaking stereotypes: Redefining Masculinity & Femininity’ was conducted on 22nd July 2025 by the Department of Commerce, Economics and PA & FM. The aim of this activity to create awareness about an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities and representation. Resource person Mr. Nishant Jha (Writer, Director and Motivational Speaker) spoke about breaking down barriers and challenge deep-seated gender stereotypes and biases. He stated that 'gender roles' are full of prejudices and assumptions that uphold inequity. And we must all undergo an immense mental transformation if we are working toward the cause of gender equality. The Outcome of this activity is it increased awareness level of learners about gender stereotypes and their harmful effects. By encouraging open-mindedness, empathy, and an inclusive perspective, learners can be more sensitive about gender equality.262 learners participated in the event.
The Department of Commerce, Economics, and B.Com. in Business Administration (PA & FM) of Thakur College of Science and Commerce organized a Reel Making Competition on 18th August 2025, as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The theme of the competition was “Unity in Diversity and National Integration,” aimed at fostering patriotism and celebrating India’s progress and unity.
A total of 25 students actively participated in the event, creating short reels showcasing the spirit of national integration, cultural diversity, and social harmony. The competition provided a creative platform for students to express their ideas through digital media while adhering to the theme.
The event successfully enhanced patriotic sentiments among students and promoted awareness of India’s cultural diversity. It also encouraged creativity, strengthened the sense of shared national identity, and highlighted the importance of unity in a diverse society.
The Department of Commerce, Economics, and B.Com. in Business Administration (PA & FM) organized a Guest Lecture on “Introduction to Financial Planning: How to Buy & Sell Shares in the Stock Market” on 21st August 2025.
The session was conducted by Dr. Hiral Trivedi Pathak, SEBI SMART Trainer, who provided valuable insights into the importance of savings, financial planning, and various investment avenues, including stock market basics. The lecture aimed to equip learners with essential knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions for both personal and professional growth.
A total of 97 students participated in the session. The lecture enhanced students’ understanding of financial discipline, investment planning, and responsible financial behaviour, contributing to better financial stability and goal-oriented decision-making.
The Department of Commerce, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, organized an Intercollegiate Event “AD-MAD 2025 – Where Ideas Compete, Creativity Wins” on 25th September 2025 in the Seminar Hall.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of TCSC as well as various other colleges, with a total of 514 learners taking part. The competition comprised a series of engaging and innovative rounds, including Mind Blender, Rhythm Rumble, Letter Grid, Logo Whisper, and Final Flash, designed to test participants’ creativity and marketing acumen.

On the occasion of Dharti Aaba Birsa Munda Jayanti and as part of the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations, the Department of Commerce organized a Story Writing Competition titled “Tribal Canvas: Stories of Diversity” on 26th November 2025.

The posters creatively showcased various Indian languages, highlighting common vocabularies, sentence structures, linguistic roots, and vowel systems, thereby emphasizing both diversity and interconnectedness among languages.
The exhibition received an encouraging response, with a total of 227 students and visitors participating. The event successfully enhanced awareness and appreciation of India’s multilingual identity while providing a platform for creative and academic expression.
The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Departments of Economics, Environmental Studies (EVS), and PAFM, successfully organized a Poster-Making Competition on 24th January 2026 as part of the Action Plan for the Commemoration of 150 Years of Vande Mataram. The event aimed to celebrate the enduring legacy of Vande Mataram while fostering creativity, patriotism, and awareness among students.
The competition centered around thoughtfully curated themes that reflected both the historical and contemporary relevance of the nation. These included “Vande Mataram – Voice of the Freedom Struggle,” “The Tricolour in Nature,” “Sujalam Suphalam,” “Unity in Diversity – One Motherland,” and “Youth Voice – Vande Mataram & Viksit Bharat.” Each theme encouraged participants to explore the deep-rooted connection between India’s cultural heritage and its vision for progressive nation-building.
The primary objective of the event was to instill a sense of patriotism among students, highlight the historical significance of Vande Mataram during India’s freedom movement, and inspire young minds to reflect on their role in shaping a developed and unified nation. The activity also provided a platform for students to express their perspectives through art, thereby promoting creativity, critical thinking, and civic awareness.

The Department of Commerce, in association with the Department of PAFM, successfully organized its flagship event, Grand Fun ‘N’ Fair 2026, on 6th February 2026. The event was centered around the vibrant theme, “From the Pitch to the Fair, Joy Everywhere,” celebrating the spirit, strength, and remarkable achievements of women in the T20 Women’s World Cup Cricket.
The event was formally inaugurated by distinguished guests, including Ms. Bidisha Sarkar, Former Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, Mithibai College; Mr. Sunil Rathi, an engineer from IIT with professional expertise in business setup; and the esteemed Principal, Dr. Mrs. C. T. Chakraborthy. Their presence added immense value and inspiration to the occasion.
A total of 47 stalls were set up by students at the TCSC Gangway Area, functioning from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. These stalls were categorized into three segments—Food, Articles, and Games—each reflecting creativity, innovation, and strong business acumen. Students from both Degree and Junior College actively participated by conceptualizing, designing, promoting, and selling their products and services through attractively decorated stalls.
The primary objective of the event was to nurture and develop entrepreneurial skills among students. It provided them with practical exposure to real-world business scenarios, including planning, marketing, customer interaction, teamwork, and financial management. Participants demonstrated commendable enthusiasm and professionalism, effectively transforming ideas into viable ventures.

The Department of Commerce organized a Guest Lecture on 14th February 2026 on the topic “Corporate Governance.” The session was delivered by CA Koushik Jain, a proud alumnus of the college, whose professional expertise and academic journey added great value and inspiration to the event.
During the session, the speaker elaborated on the systems, principles, and processes that govern how companies are directed, controlled, and held accountable for their operations and business conduct. He provided insightful explanations on the significance of corporate governance in ensuring fairness, transparency, and responsibility in organizational functioning.
The primary objective of the lecture was to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application of corporate governance concepts. CA Koushik Jain emphasized the growing importance of ethical leadership, accountability, and transparency in today’s dynamic corporate environment, highlighting how these values form the foundation of sustainable business practices.
The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, with 102 students in attendance. The learners actively engaged with the speaker, raising thoughtful queries and gaining valuable exposure through direct interaction with an esteemed alumnus of the institution.

The Department of Commerce, Accountancy, and M.Com (Advanced Accountancy) organized an Industrial Visit to APR Display System, Vasai East on 26th February 2026. The visit aimed to provide students with meaningful exposure to real-world industrial operations and enhance their understanding of practical business functioning.
APR Display System, a Mumbai-based industry, specializes in the manufacturing of writing boards, display boards, and related accessories. The organization offered students valuable insights into its production processes and operational framework.
The primary objective of the visit was to help students gain practical knowledge of manufacturing, logistics, and quality management systems. It also aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical concepts taught in classrooms and their application in real business environments.
During the visit, students observed the end-to-end manufacturing process, gaining a clear understanding of production techniques, workflow coordination, and quality control measures.
With the objective of fostering empathy and social responsibility, the Department of Commerce organized a social activity titled “Prayas,” wherein learners visited BMC School, Samta Vidya Mandir, Thakur Village. Two visits were conducted on 13th September 2025 and 29th November 2025.
During the visits, students actively interacted with school children and sensitized them about the importance of health, hygiene, sanitation, and good eating habits. The activity focused on creating awareness in a simple and engaging manner, ensuring that the children could easily understand and adopt healthy practices in their daily lives.
A total of 20 students participated in the activity. The visits helped students develop empathy, understand diverse perspectives, and improve their communication skills while contributing positively to the community.
