Reflect, Reboot, Recreate & Be Relevant for tomorrow - A webinar on Corporate Perspective to boost the Economy Mr. Ramesh Iyer, Vice- Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services conducted an eye opening session on rebooting Indian economy post COVID-19. This national level webinar was conducted on 6th June 2020. Mr. Ramesh Iyer has been instrumental in building Mahindra Finance since 1994 into one of India’s leading rural finance companies. He manages the Financial Services Sector of the Mahindra Group. It has total Assets Under Management (AUM) of more than Rs. 78,000 Crores (around 11 billion US$) with around 1,700+ branches spread across the country, which is managed by a team of young managers with employee strength upward of 30,000 people. He spoke at length about difficulties arising out of this pandemic, suggested remedies and especially mentioned problems which will be faced by small scale industries and students graduating at this time. Also, in the capacity of being a Chairman of Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) WR Task Force Committee on Human Resources and Co-Chairperson of the NBFC Committee of IMC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, He highlighted various aspects, parameters, solutions and the future expectations for our economy which is badly hit by the deadly virus. While urging everyone to keep upgrading their skill sets, he also gave some insights on the 20 Lakh Crore stimulus package which was announced by the Government recently. *Atmanirbhar Bharat* , which is the new vision set by our Prime Minister was vividly explained by Mr. Iyer. He also answered the queries by various participants and motivated the young minds. Sparkles: Global Alumni Connect Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Department of Biotechnology of Thakur College of Science and Commerce organized Global Alumni Connect titled ‘Sparkles’. The series of events initiated on 21st May 2020 with a webinar on `Lignocellulose' by the prestigious alumnus, Mrs. Nazia Deoghare, Director, Bios Agricorp Ltd., Europe. She is also pursuing MS from the University of Helsinki, Finland, Europe. She delivered an informative technical session on the diverse Biotechnological applications of Lignocellulose from various natural sources and also interacted with students regarding the career options in Biotechnology. In the `Sparkles' event series, a webinar was organized on `Meeting proteins with a new vision: A glance of Myosin protein in real life!' by Ms. Anahita Vispi Bharda from South Korea on 30th May 2020. She is Research Scholar and Ph.D Student of Biochemistry in the Lab of Protein Structure & Function (LPSF), Kangwon National University under the Principal Investigator, Dr. Hyun Suk Jung. She presented her research work on `Myosin Protein and Virus Image Capture' using Transmission Electron Microscope and Cryo Electron Microscope. Also, she gave the participant students, an virtual tour to the Electron Microscopy Lab in Kangwon National University, South Korea. She also guided students regarding the higher studies abroad. `Sparkles' Global Alumni Connect was attended by 82 students of B.Sc. (Biotechnology) along with Dr. Aparna Deshmukh and Ms Shweta Sharma from Department of Biotechnology. The students found the event useful for planning their future and thanked the department for organization of the event. #tcsc #tcscmumbai
