M.Sc. Zoology (Oceanography) - Academics


M.Sc. Zoology

(Specialization : Oceanography, Aquaculture, Fish Processing Technology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Research Methodology)


Eligibility

Candidate shall have passed three year B.Sc. degree (6 Units with a single subject or 3 Units with Zoology as one of the subject and other optional subjects Viz.  Chemistry / Zoology /Microbiology / Biochemistry /Life Sciences etc.) with at least 50% Marks at External Examinations or its equivalent degree from any other UGC-recognized university.


Duration of the Program

This course shall be a full time course. The duration of course will be four semesters spread over two years.

Second Year:

Semester III & IV
Paper I: Oceanography
Paper II: Freshwater Aquaculture
Paper III: Fish Processing Technology
Paper IV: Fin Fish and Shell Fish Biology
5. Zoology Practical based on 1, 2, 3 & 4


Semester III & IV
Paper I: Capture Fisheries
Paper II: Brackish and Marine Water Aquaculture
Paper III: Industrial Fishery
Paper IV: Instrumentation and Presentation of Scientific data
5. Zoology Practical based on 1, 2, 3 & 4


Scheme of Evaluation

(Semester- I, II, III & IV) : Each theory paper is of 60 Marks with internal evaluation of 40 marks. Practical examination for each paper is of 50 Marks. Passing percentage is 40% for each head of passing. Semester IV there will be project evaluation of 50 marks instead of one practical.
