Department
of Commerce took the initiative to acknowledge International yoga day
with “Yog Saptaah” –Yoga for harmony and peace, for all learners of
degree college from 29th June 2015 to 4th July 2015. Mrs. Charushila
Joshi recognized yoga trainer associated with Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir
taught around 170 learners of FYBCOM, SYBCOM, TYBCOM and professional
courses. Inspired by te enthusiastic response, Ambika Yog Kutir
initiated Yoga Shibir from 30th August 2015 (every Sunday for 12 weeks)
for teachers, students and society.
Department
organized an informative session on 13th August 2015 on the topic
“Avenues In Advertising Industry” by Ms.Kiran Swaroop Dalani ,
Co-founder, Hungry Minds, Children activity center and Sr. Brand Service
Manager :Lowe World Wide, Business Development Manager –Kyros
International. The learners knowledge was enhanced on the career aspects
and avenues in advertising.
An informative session was organized on
19th December 2015 on the topic “Credit Analysis And Credit Rating Of
Various Financial Instruments And Companies” by Ms. Divyata Ved, Manager
and Lead Credit Analyst in CRISIL. This session was for SYBCom learners
to enhance their financial knowledge and analysis of financial
instruments used by credit rating agencies.
Department
of Commerce organized industrial visit for TYBCOM learners to JNPT on
11th January 2016. 50 students along with Prof. Reshma Parab and Prof.
Rashmi Jijish were oriented by port trust authority on relevant export
procedures.
“AD-MAD
competition” for Degree learners was organized on 30th January 2016 to
showcase their creativity in advertising on the theme- Green Marketing.
It provided a platform for the participants to explore their creativity
and presentation skills.
The
Flag ship event of Dept. of Commerce “Grand Funfair – Fusion Of
Cultures” was organized on 10th February 2016. The objective of this
activity is to inculcate entrepreneurial skills and develop business
aptitude among undergraduate learners. 40 venture stalls of eatables,
games, hand- made articles and gift articles were put up by learners of
all streams of science and commerce.
Social
activity “stay connected - “PRAYAS” was initiated by the department at
Samta Nagar BMC school from September to February 2016. A team of
students and faculties conduct awareness drives through innovative
teaching aids, posters, street plays, role play etc..The objective is to
sensitize these school children on social issues, personal hygiene and
wildlife conversation. A visit was also organized on 26 September 2015to
Sanjay Gandhi National Park to develop awareness on health and hygiene
among tribal communities. Alumni of B.Com course also participated and
helped the department in carrying out its social responsibility by
training in self defense mechanism.
