Department of Commerce is committed to the all-round development of the learners by providing the opportunity to participate in meticulously crafted events. A Social Activity 'Prayas' is continued as an ongoing Social Program of the Department with the aim to inspire the learners to take up social initiatives that could make a difference in the society and learn the importance of supporting and caring for the children. Total 05visits were organized in the current academic year on 8th July 2023, 19th August 2023, 2nd September 2023, 20th January 2024&2nd March 2024. Learners along with Faculty members of the department, interacted with the Samta Nagar BMC School children with an attempt to create awareness about importance of hygiene and care to be taken during rainy season, health benefits of millets, importance of sports and fitness and social values like respecting elders through sharing value-based stories.
Movie screening on the theme - “WATER” on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was done on 12th July 2023. The aim of this activity was to create awareness about the Water Conservation and to sensitize students about new and Innovative Technologies that has potential to solve the world’s water crisis. At The end of the activity an interactive question answers session was conducted to check what students understood by this movie and feedback taken from all the students. Total 145 students had attended this activity.
A Guest Lecture on “Gender Equity” was conducted by Mr. Sumit Pawar and Ms. Apurva Paithane on 18th July, 2023.The aim was to create awareness about gender equity as a Human Right and to motivate the students to maintain and promote Gender Equity. Guest Lecture is conducted in two sessions. First session was taken by Ms.Apurva paithane, she enlightened the participants about gender Equity as Human Rights. Second session was conducted by Mr. Sumit Pawar, he enlightened and motivated students to maintain and promote gender equity. Total 170 students attended this guest lecture.
Rally on Millets was organized for celebrating International Year of Millets on 24th July 2023 from 9.00 am onwards. Total 153 students attended this rally. The aim of the rally was to create awareness about health benefits of Millets and to sensitize students about different types of recipes which they can make with the help of millets. Organizing team visited each and every classroom of degree Programme and displayed handmade posters on benefits of millets, types of millets and different recipes which can make with the help of millets to students who were present in class. All students gained knowledge through the medium of posters why it is important to include millets in their diet and what are the different tasty recipes they can make with the help of millets.
A Study tour to Govardhan Eco Village was organised on 31st July 2023. The aim of The Study Tour was to examine rainwater harvesting facility used for the water necessity of the site and to study the biodegradable materials and construction methods utilized for Govardhan Eco Village. Students gained knowledge on water treatment, Rainwater harvesting and biodegradable materials and constructions methods utilized for Govardhan village and live happy life. The Tour was enthusiastically attended by Total 88 students from second and third years of Degree College.
A Guest lecture on Value Education on Topic: Stress Management - Stress to Smiles on 31st July 2023 at Mahavan Hall. The resource person for the lecture was HG Udhav Priya Prabhu. The aim of the guest lecture was to make students learn about how to deal with Stress and how to manage Stress and to help students identify the sources of stress and tackle them effectively. The event created awareness among the participants about spirituality, sustainability and social responsibility. The lecture was enthusiastically attended by Total 88 students from second and third years of Degree College.
A Social Media Reel Making Competition on National Integration from 14th August to 20th August 2023. The aim of this competition was to sensitize students with the concept of Indian Cultural core values and beliefs and to enable students to identify the importance of being Bhartiya.
In this competition Learners have given 1 week time to record their reel on one topic from 4 topics as mentioned below:

A Guidance lecture on Competitive Exams (UPSC, MPSC and IAS) was organized on 8th September 2023.the aim of the Guidance lecture was to guide Learners for Competitive Exams and to motivate them for preparing and applying for competitive Exams. Guidance lecture was taken by Dr. Sandip E Patil, Senior Executive at Reliable Academy. He has explained very well various competitive exams and procedure to apply and how to prepare for various competitive exams and guided students on eligibility to apply for competitive exams. Total 203 students attended this guidance lecture.
In Collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, a Certificate course “Metamorphosis”-A journey of Transformation, was conducted from 21st 2023 to 19th November 2023 for SYBCOM Learners. The aim of the Course was to improve and develop the qualitative and quantitative skills required to achieve performance and success in life. To build self-confidence, enhance self-esteem and improve overall personality of the participants, to improve the mental aptitude and to develop cognitive skills. It was 45 hrs. Certificate course (32 hrs. theory + 13 Practical sessions) conducted via online Zoom platform. Total 140 students registered and 38 students successfully completed this course.
“Salesmark certificate course” in collaboration with the Department of Botany was conducted from 12th September 2023 to 30th October 2023 for SYBCOM Students. The aim of the course was to develop skills in the field of sales & marketing, Culinary Skills and Food Preservation and to enhance their employability for the most lucrative job. It was 45 hrs. Certificate course. 20 hours theory sessions by Department of Commerce were conducted on online Zoom Platform and 20 hours practical sessions were conducted by Department of Botany. Total 102 students successfully completed this course.
A Quiz Competition on G20 Summit 2023 was conducted from 13th October to 16th October 2023. The aim of this competition was to create awareness about the historical background of G20 Summit 2023 and to develop knowledge about the objectives of the G20 Summit. In this competition learners have provided with PPT on G20 Summit along with Quiz Link (Google form) in the class WhatsApp group by respective Class teachers/Mentor Teachers. Learners have to answer the Quiz by clicking on quiz link provided on last slide of PPT. Last date to attempt Quiz was 16th October, 2023. E-certificates were awarded to those who have scored 70% and above in Quiz. Total 318 students Participated in this competition.
To celebrate the ‘Bhasha divas’Poster Making Competition conducted on 5th December 2024. The aim of the activity was to enhance understanding of different languages of India and to create awareness among students about different Bhasha and their importance. In this activity we have given total 27 languages to different department including science and commerce. Each department has told to give more than one hand made poster depicting the rich culture, heritage, people and region associated with the language allotted to department. We have collected posters from different department and we have displayed these posters on ground floor, 1st floor and 2nd floor for spreading awareness among Students and to celebrate Bhasha divas on 5th December 2023. Total 33 Students and 14 Departments participated in this competition.
A National Level Intercollegiate Competition AD-MAD 2023- Feel the Magic of Creativity for all degree college learners on 8th December 2023for all Learners of TCSC and Other Colleges Students was organized. The aim of the competition was to enhance the creative potential of the Learners and Enhancing advertising and branding related knowledge of the students. The Flagship Event Grand Fun ‘N’ Fair conducted on 10th January 2024 for all Degree and junior college learners. The Theme of the event was “Cosmic Carnival”. The aim of the event was to Promote Entrepreneurship skills among students and to Enhance Knowledge about how to become a successful Entrepreneur. The event had 48 stalls located around the inner quadrangle, garden Area and gangway of the Thakur College. Each of the booths was given a distinct name of different scientist that matched to the event’s theme which was decorated by the cultural team. It provided young entrepreneurs an opportunity to display their products and services. It provided a platform for small businesses to sell and market their products. A Guest lecture on topic Academic research book workshop was organized for all degree college learners. The guest speaker was Dr.Vinita Pimpale vice Principal of R.A Poddar College on Online Platform on 16th& 17th January 2024. "FOSTER READS"
The ELA OF TCSC in collaboration with FOSTER READS conducted an introductory session on 11th July, 2023 in the college auditorium.
The session was an informative session where the Marketing Director from Foster Reads Mr. Harshil Shah introduced the audience to Foster Reads. Foster Reads is an application for readers and literature lovers that enables them to connect with like-minded people. Students can create virtual reading rooms, keep discussions, also get an opportunity to connect to writers, authors, poets, etc. and they could also publish their own literature creativity.
The chief dignitary of the session was Author Mr. Neil D'silva, well known known for his novels Maya’s New Husband, Yakshini, and the co-authored story collection, Haunted: Real-life Encounters with Ghosts and Spirits
The session was enlightening as it embarked on the essence of the significance of literature among the 377 listeners in the Auditorium.

English is the Language of International Communication and whether it is for Professional or Personal reasons, learning it always helps one to achieve their goals. The Department of Business Communication [ELA] organized ELPT on 5th February 2024 to assess the level of English Language Proficiency of the degree college learners and also encourage them to learn the International Language better. 154 enthusiastic learners participated to assess their level of English Language.
ANTI - CORRUPTION DRIVE
Corruption is one of the Social Evils faced by society all over the world and needs to be eliminated. In an endeavor to eradicate the societal and criminal menace, ELA started the ANTI-CORRUPTION DRIVE on 6th March 2024. Reel, created, acted & directed by ELA Members, were shared on the Faculty and Learners’ WhatsApp Groups.
AWARENESS DRIVE
"To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors"- keeping this vision in mind on 11th March 2024 ELA initiated an Awareness Drive on one of the most Heart-Breaking Social Issues of contemporary times - "Take A Stand - Elder Abuse Awareness Drive.". It was an effort to generate Awareness among Young Learners & Faculty Members about the problems faced by the elderly population. Students created slogans, and banners and visited class-to-class arousing to put forth the need for basic rights of protection of the elderly citizens. The objective was to make them aware of the realities and different facets of ELDER ABUSE– Physical, Mental, Psychological, Financial, etc. so that it can be stopped.

Mr. Aditya Bhatt [SY BCOM], Ms. Honey Rathod [SY BIA], Ms. Khushi Maru [SY BIA], Ms. Sneha Chauraisa [FY BIA], Mr. Jay Utwal [SY BAMMC], & Ms. Nitya Wanage [SY BAMMC] participated in AAVISHKAR 23 – 24 at the Zonal Level.
A seminar was organized on 15th July 2023 by the Department of Accountancy & B.com (Accountancy & Finance) in collaboration with WIRC - ICAI, with 373 participants. The seminar focused on sustainability reporting, sustainable development goals, and the role of accountants and chartered accountants in sustainable reporting. The learners also took a sustainability pledge to align their activities with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
2. The Department of Accountancy, along with the Department of B.Com (IA) and B.Com (Hons.), organized an event on Gender Equality on August 7th, 2023. A 10-minute video was played during the second lecture to 1,824 learners, bringing awareness about gender parity and its implications on people's lives. Teachers briefed the students, highlighting that gender equality is a natural and human right, and awareness of it prevents violence against women and girls. 3. Department of Accountancy in collaboration with B.com (Hons), B.com (IA) had organized a guest lecture on “Cancer Awareness” on 07th Aug, 2023. The activity had participation of 70 learners. Dr. Vandana Agarwal from Tata Memorial Hospital addressed the learners about causes of cancer, Types of cancer, detection at early stages, Support & resources, healthy life style for prevention and cure.
4. The Department of Accountancy organized a Campaign “The Environmental issue- RRR (Refuse- Reuse- Recycle)” on the theme of "SAY NO TO SINGLE USE PLASTIC" on 4th & 5th September 2023. The campaign had 1,330 learners participating. Learners prepared cardboard, slogans, and sketches to spread awareness. The aim was to encourage learners to avoid single-use plastic and contribute towards sustainable development goals. The campaign was intended to make learners aware of the negative impact of plastic on the environment and the ecosystem.
5. The Department of Accountancy, B.Com (IA) & B.Com (Hons) organized a Skit Play on National Integration on 11th September 2023. The event was held from 10.00 am onwards and was attended by degree learners. A total of 10 teams participated in this event, where learners expressed their views on different sources of national integration such as our constitution, our diversity, culture, festivals, food style, clothing, and many more. The skit play aimed to promote the idea of unity in diversity and highlight the importance of national integration.

6. Department of Accountancy organized awareness campaign on Skill India Scheme of PM Programme, on 11th & 12th September 2023. The campaign had participation of 388 learners. The primary objective of activity was to spread awareness among learners w.r.t different government schemes and importance of skill enhancement.
7. “FINSCOOP-23” an Annual Inter-Collegiate Competition was organized was on 03rd October 2023. Total of 44 learners participated in this competition from different college across State. The aim of this activity was to test the memory, vocabulary, quick thinking and creative thinking of participants about the different aspects of finance and they had to use all these qualities to name as many things to finance within the allotted time.

8. The Department of Accountancy held an awareness program on "International Year of Millet". The United Nations (UN) General Assembly at its 75th session declared 2023 the International Year of Millets (IYM2023). The program aimed to spread awareness about the benefits of millets and their contribution towards sustainable development goals through class to class promotion. Students participated in the event, where they explained about different types of millets and their benefits, and played the role of different millets. Millets are highly nutritious and gluten-free, making them ideal for people with wheat allergies.
9. The Department of Accountancy had organized the workshop on E – filing of Income Tax Return (ITR) for Third Year learners from 7th to 9th December 2023. The workshop has participation of 57 learners. The workshop was addressed by Faculty members from the department. The primary objective was to provide hands-on training to learners and assimilation of class theories with practical of competitive world.
10. A session on Value Education session on “Zindagi na Milegi Dobara” was organized by Department of Accountancy on 24/1/2024 from 10 am onwards. The resource person was Pitavarna Nimaidas . He is International preacher & Motivational Speaker – ISKON. The session was started by Holy Sloka. In this session all the learners were given insights about Importance of life and how to make meaningful & Joyful..
12. Department of Accountancy in collaboration with B.com (IA) & B.com (Hons) had organized a guest lecture on AS 7 and Income Tax Assessment for the same. The session was addressed by CA Haresh K Godhia. The seminar has participation of 174 learners. The objective was to make the learners aware about AS 7 and Income tax assessment w.r.t construction Industry.
13. Department of Accountancy had organized an Intercollegiate competition Aconte’24 -Vittiya Manthan on 09th Feb, 2024. Aconte 24 includes total five activities, proved to be a resounding success, achieving its goal of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in the fields of accountancy and finance. The event not only broadened the horizons of participating students but also strengthened the college's commitment to providing a holistic education in the financial domain. As we reflect on the success of the event, it is evident that such events play a crucial role in preparing the next generation of financial professionals for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the ever-evolving financial landscape. It was exclusively inclined toward finance and innovation, from beginning to end its focused on enhancing learner’s skills w.r.t Planning, Coordinating, Financing, Managing resources and time bound execution and completion.
14. The Department of Accountancy organized a plastic recycling program on 16th March 2024 with 23 learner participants. The objective of the activity was to promote environmental awareness and responsibility, reduce the environmental impact of plastic waste, and foster a culture of sustainability. The program highlights the institution's commitment to responsible waste management and sustainability, aiming to educate, engage, and innovate to further enhance its impact in promoting a culture of sustainability within the college community and beyond.

The Department of Accountancy has started study circle under our social outreach programme The primary objective of our social outreach program is to provide quality education and skill development opportunities to those who are marginalized or disadvantaged. Through this initiative, we aim to break the cycle of poverty, empower individuals to become self-sufficient, and contribute positively to their communities. Additionally, we seek to foster a sense of inclusion and equality by ensuring that everyone has equal access to educational resources and opportunities. We establish community learning centers in underserved areas, providing a safe and conducive environment for learning. These centers are equipped with educational materials, technology resources, and trained instructors who facilitate learning activities. We recognize the importance of involving parents and the broader community in the educational process. Therefore, we are personally contacting them and asking for their support at local level. The study circle has participation of 71 learners.

Department of Economics since 1997 has been harbingering the need to elevate the economic quotient in the institution with a wide variety of activities, courses, engagements, and interactions. The following is the record of all the activities undertaken by the Department for the Academic Year 2023-2024:
6th Annual Essay Writing Competition on the theme World Population Day 2023 - “Unleashing the power of Gender Equality” was organized on 11th July, 2023. The various topics for the competition were From Silence to Strength: Amplifying Women’s Voice in Society; Youth, Empowerment and Gender Equality: Shaping the Population Landscape of Tomorrow; Reproductive Rights: Empowering Individuals for a Future of Possibilities; Culture, Tradition and Rights: Balancing Heritage with Progress The competition saw 47 learners submitting their ideas, opinions and views in English, Hindi and Marathi languages.
Industrial Visit to Govardhan Eco Village, Galtare, Wada, District Palghar was jointly organized by the Department of Commerce and Economics on 31st July, 2023. The visit was organized with the objective of understanding the working of the role model village nested in an ecological infrastructure and to gain first-hand experience of the sustainable and eco-friendly practices adopted in the Ecovillage. A total of 88 learners from SY and TYBCom took a guided tour of the facility where low embodied energy housing alternatives are used for construction. The learners were encouraged to adopt the best practices with regards to rainwater harvesting, water treatment, usage of biodegradable materials and sustainable construction techniques. A Value Education based special Guest Lecture on “Converting Stress to Smile” by His Grace Udhav Priya Prabhu, ISKCON was also organized at the Eco-Village to enable the learners to handle stress effectively. His Grace Udhav Priya Prabhu also suggested coping mechanisms for the same and to develop resilience. A total of 88 learners witnessed an unforgettable experience inclusive of spirituality, sustainability and social responsibility.
“Hum Chalenge Saath Saath” organized on 28th August, 2023 for 53 Faculty members, and on 20th February, 2024 for 42 learners, was the innovative Social Experiment based on gender equity. The social experiment was conducted to make the participants realize the extent of discrimination that takes place in the society on the basis of gender. The disguised as well as unintentionally discriminative and biased perspectives were visible through the social experiment which made the participants rethink about their role in promoting gender-neutral and gender equitable society.
Screening of “Barefoot Gen” a Japanese Anime about Nuclear Bombings on the “International Day against Nuclear Tests” was organized to sensitize learners regarding the long-term ill effects of nuclear bombing on the human population. The screening arranged on 29th August, 2023 was followed by a discussion about the cost of war, impact of war and cross generation burden of such violent acts. The event saw an active participation from 129 learners.
As a part of the industrial visit, the Second-Year learners of B.Com. and B.Com. (International Accounting) visited the Reserve Bank of India Monetary Museum, Mumbai on 6th September, 2023. The visit aimed to explore the rich coinage of India and World. The museum also provided a retrospective to the evolution of paper money and glimpses into the indigenous banking and financial aspects. The 65 learners were spellbound by the rich monetary heritage of the country.
“Insights” was the program initiated to organize Skill-Building Session beyond the conventional classroom teaching for the learners. The first session of the online initiative was titled “Writing a Research Paper” organised on 15th September, 2023. The session aimed to help the learners write research papers, undertake data analysis and deconstruct the complete process of writing a research paper. The session was well attended by 40 learners.
Workshop on “Financial Literacy in Mutual Funds” was organised on 12th December, 2023 on Online mode for the learners of degree college. The event in collaboration of FinSafe India Private Limited with Resource Person Ms. Soumya Anand, a Financial Educator, FinSAFE India Private Limited aimed to provide the basic understanding of financial literacy. A total of 47 learners were provided hands-on training in various financial applications and concepts including Mutual Funds.
“Observing 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights” was the activity jointly organised by Department of Economics and Law. Faculty members of these Departments conducted a class-to-class awareness and sensitization program highlighting the features and importance of Universal Declaration of Human Rights running in its 75th year which is affected by acts of violence, destruction and social inequalities. Faculty members read out the declaration and explained its salient features and interpretations to 302 learners through this activity conducted between December 2023 to January 2024.
Black Swan: An Unpredictable Labyrinth, the Annual Inter-Collegiate fest was organized by Department of Economics and Dé Planning Forum on 11th, 12th and 13th January, 2024. The theme of this edition was the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the economy titled “ए….आई..... (A.I.)”. The various activities organised under the fest were integrated with AI including: Budget-O-Meter (Budget Preparation Activity based on North Korea), Film-O-Nomics (Film Review-writing Competition on the theme of tribal empowerment and War & Peace), Shipwreck (Role Playing Competition based around “The 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”) and The Great Indian Memer (Meme Making Competition on the theme of Economics), Akshar Yatra (Regional Language Essay Writing Competition on “Viksit Bharat @2047”) and Circular Flow of Melody (Quiz Contest with a difference).
“Air Crash” was an adaptive and creative take through a role-play-based competition. In Air Crash, the participants were asked to be a part of an imaginary air crash while personifying as important world dignitaries on board and trying to fight it out for the last parachute. The event was conducted on 13th January, 2024. Ms. Reshma Varma, Officer CDSL and an alumnus of TCSC was the invited judge for the event. A total of 27 learners participated in the competition.
Quiz, the Value Addition based activity of the Department on the theme “Know Your Country” was conducted on 8th February, 2024. The quiz covered various aspects related to Republic Day celebrations and created awareness among the learners about the cultural heritage of India. A total of 135 learners participated in the quiz.
Yuvamanthan- Model United Nations (MUN) under the Yuvamanthan Initiaitve, GoI in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was organized on 29th February, 2024. Department of Economics and Dé Planning Forum organized two different sessions under Yuvamanthan MUN: COP 28:
Climate Change Conference on the theme “Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE)” on the topics Carbon Trading and Making Efficient and Cost-Effective Sustainable Energy Technology. The activity was undertaken under TCSC-CARRE (Connecting All to Respect and Recreate Environment) initiative.
All India Political Party Meet (AIPPM) on the theme of “Viksit Bharat 2047” on the topics Future of Reservation and Redefining Margins and Marginals.
This experiential learning initiative saw brainstorming of ideas for the future with 48 leaders in action.
Know Your Prospects (KYP) is conducted by the Department to create awareness among learners about the state and national level competitive exams conducted by various government bodies. Major examinations covered under Know Your Prospects activity included IBPS, SBI-PO, NTA-NET, Internship with External Affairs and MH-CET (Law, B.Ed. MBA) guiding the learners towards promising career prospects.
The Department of Economics through its Student Association “Dé Planning Forum” has been regularly organizing Group Discussions on topics concerning the economy and the world including “Utopia or Dystopia- Assessing an Unstable World for Economic Resilience” which was conducted on 31st January, 2024. The activity aimed at surveying the world affairs and looking at economic prospects and problems. This Group Discussion based on the theme of Terrorism and National Security was undertaken by the Department under the PM Programme. The event marked the participation of 99 learners from various programs.
Annual Online Group Discussion titled “Union Interim Budget 2024-2025 and Indian Economy: A Review” was held on 4th March, 2024. The session is the annual practice of the Department to discuss the tabled reports of Economic Survey and Union Interim Budget as deliberated in the Parliament in a simulated environment with the learners to understand the performance of the economy and the future allocation of the monetary resources of the country. The learners were given an in-depth understanding of the budgetary announcements and their impact on the lives of people. The group discussion saw a participation of 198 learners from across various programs.
Following are the Distinctive Initiatives undertaken by the Department of Economics:
As a part of the social initiative of the Department, the learners were involved in Best Bus Project to analyse the Best Bus Management and identified the steps to be taken to improve the status of local transportation in the city in the month of September and October, 2023. The learners collected a sample of 3,451 passengers and shared their findings with authorities in an effort to make transportation safe and cost effective.
The Annual Intra-Collegiate Budget-Making activity “Budget-O-Meter” was conducted in the month of January and February, 2024 for SYBCom, SYBCom (IA), SYBFM and SYBMS learners. The activity enabled the learners to understand the process of budget making and analyzing the fiscal management of a country. This year the Budget-O-Meter was based on the theme “Budget Preparation for Palestine for the upcoming financial year 2024-2025”. The activity was undertaken under TCSC-STEPs (Skill and Talent Enhancement Programmes (STEPs) initiative.
To promote One District One Product (ODOP) amongst the learners, 777 learners of TYBCom and TYBAF made Product Brochures of any one selected distinct product from across the country. The learners made a brochure underlining the economic importance of the selected Product and highlighted the steps to promote the product in the economy. The exercise made the learners understand the impact of “Vocal for Local” and sensitised them towards promoting small and medium scale industries and industry-based products in India. This activity was conducted in the month of January and February, 2024.
The Department conducted the Add-On Certificate Course “Ikigai of Money” for SYBCom learners to understand the practical applications of Economics in day-to-day basis. #WAS: War Against Stupidity, was the weekly financial literacy campaign to promote sound financial habits among the learners on social media platforms. An Essay Writing Competition on ‘Environmental Law’ was organised by Department of Law in collaboration with the ‘English Literary Association’ aiming at enhancing critical thinking skills ans fostering creativity among learners while also trying to raise awareness on crucial legal frameworks for environmental protection. Learners were provided with topics such as ‘Role of Judiciary in Environment Protection’, ‘Legal Framework for Waste Management in India’, etc. The winners for the event were Prathamesh Kharul (First), Vedhika Nail (Second) & Vishal Joshi & Harshita Dhanik (Third). A total of 245 learners took part in this competition.

A seminar on ‘Understanding UCC’ (Uniform Civil Code) was organised on 18th August, 2023. Guest Speaker Mr. Harshvardhan Salgaonkar (Criminal Attorney in the Trials Court and Court of Bombay) enlightened the learners regarding the legal provisions relating to UCC and its enactment in the Constitution of India. He went on to speak about its practicality in nationalising the said topic and the disagreements which potentially can occur along with his experience relating to the topic. As per the instructions from the superior authorities, all the mentor teachers were requested to conduct a short activity viz “Preamble Reading” through online platform. The prime focus of observing this day was to remind the citizens of India of the constitutional values of the country. A total of 140 learners took part in reciting the preamble.

Event: Extempore Speech Competition

Department of EVS, Law and Business Communication had organized an Extempore Speech Competition at Intra-Collegiate level for the Degree College Learners on 11th December, 2023 to celebrate ‘Bhasha Day.’ The topics for the event were ‘India as One linguistic Area’, ‘Bharat ki Ekta aur Akhandata mein Bhartiya Bhashaon Ka Yogdaan’, etc. The learners were given option to give their speech in English, Hindi or Marathi language. The winners for the event were Riya Yadav (First), Arin Ghadi (Second), Vishal Joshi & Kshitij Chauhan (Third), Pooja Chaudhary & Apurva Suryavanshi (Consolation. A total of 59 learners from Science and Commerce faculties participated in the event.

On 10th February, 2024, a guest lecture on ‘Career Opportunities in Law’ was organised in association with the Department of BBI. Guest Speaker Mr. Jaishankar Pandey (Legal Legend Advocates & Consultants, TCSC Alumni) oriented the learners about impressive career opportunities in the legal field which boasts a multidimensional proportion in the backdrop of globalisation. A total of 50 learners were a part of this guest lecture.

Crossword competition was an inter-class event organized by Department of Environment Studies and foundation course on 14th July 2023. The theme of the competition was "Environmental Issues" The Learners were hardcopy sheets where they were asked to write their answers. Total 20 minutes were allotted for solving the crossword. Department of Environmental Studies of Thakur college of Science and Commerce, Kandivali, Mumbai in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change had organized National Students Paryavaran Competition (NSPC) under the aegis of Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi (PAS) Competition on 29th of August 2023. The quiz was conducted on the theme Environmental Conservation. This quiz was open to all the students of India. The degree and junior college learners of Thakur College of science and commerce section participated in the same. The quiz was done online. Total 4013 leaners participated. Thakur college of Science and Commerce got All India Rank of 5th in this event. They were immediately provided with online certificates through the Government portal itself. This quiz led the sense of knowledge and understanding and evaluated the understanding amongst the learners about Environmental Conservation.
Photography competition was an event organized by Department of Environment Studies and foundation course in collaboration with Inner-Wheel Club on 9th August 2023. The theme of the competition was "Mumbai Meri Jaan" The Learners were asked click the picture on the said theme and write a caption for the same. Essay writing competition was an inter-class event organized by Department of Environment Studies and foundation course on 4th September 2023. The theme of the competition was "National Integration" The Learners were asked to write essays, scan and mail the same. To inculate the value of spiritual well-being, Department of Environmental Studies have conducted field visit to GOWARDHAN Ecovillage, Palghar on 27th September 2023. Total 40 students from FYBCom and FYBAF accompanied the Teacher-in-charge, Dr. Priti Gupta to Gowardhan. The guide, Hema Rupa Chaitanya Dasa, at centre helped the students to highlight on the prominent features at the place by showing them the rainwater harvesting methods, waste management methods, gaushala, and other aspects of Krishna Vrindawan. The learners were facilitated with maha prasadam at the place. The entire scenario was a divine entity. This visit have enriched the learners with the knowledge and spirituality of Lord Krishna and his preachings. The field visit ended with a sense of joy and happiness.
Department of Environmental Studies had organized "National Level Quiz Competition on NEP awareness" at Intra-Collegiate level for the Degree College learners along with Department of Statistics and Sports Science. The event was based on awareness regarding the NEP. Total of 177 learners participated in the event. The quiz was held online.

Department of Environmental Studies, Thakur college of Science and Commerce in collaboration with Mission Clean Mumbai had organised 'Swachata Hi Seva - Kachara Mukta Bharat' on occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2023. This event was initiated to clean the hospital premises and plant trees at Genral Hospital, Janakalyan Nagar, Mald West. The event took place from 8am to 11am where total 18 students from Degree Science and Degree Commerce participated in the event. The event ended with distribution of Certificates to the participants.
Department of Environmental Studies and Foundation Course, in Collaboration with Inner Wheel Club, Kandivali, had organized an event on the theme – ‘Women Empowerment in Tribal Areas’ on 4th November 2023. This programme aimed at empowering women in tribal areas from the perspective of making them financially independent. Members of Inner Wheel Club along with learners of degree section of Thakur College of Science and Commerce helped the women learn the art of Diya Making for Diwali. Each learner carried 5 Diyas of Clay (plain) on the day of the activity. The women painted the diyas and used them to sell during Diwali festival. Total 20 learners participated in the activity.

Paryavaran Mitravat is the departmental distinctive activity that is conducted every year on the themes based on environment. This year the theme was “Sustainovation” – the idea of sustainability with innovation. The prizes of the event was sponsored by Inner Wheel Club of Bombay, Kandivali. This event took place on 6th February 2024. Total of 4 events namely – Muddle it out, Logo Identification, Make the Case and Model Making were organized for participants across different colleges of Mumbai. The event saw a participation of 250 students from 12 outer colleges, including Durgadevi Saraf College, Atharva College, Royal College, Valia College, Thakur Business School, Nirmala College, RD National College, Pralhadrai Lions Dalmia College, KES College, Reena Mehta College, and NMIMS College. The best college trophy was won by Atharva College
On 23rd February 2024, the Environmental Studies Department organized a field visit to Maharashtra Nature Park for learners from the commerce stream. Total 66 learners participated in the visit. The theme of the visit was a "Biodiversity Walk," aimed at fostering awareness about the rich biodiversity and environmental conservation among the learners.The day began with an introductory session led by Dr. Priti Gupta and Dr. Prajakta Jadhav, providing insights into the significance of biodiversity and its implications for ecological balance. Learners were briefed on the various ecosystems present in the park, including wetlands, grasslands, and mangroves, highlighting the interconnectedness of different species within these habitats.

Department of Environmental Studies have organized Paryavaran Mitravat. On this occasion, on 6th February 2024, a Guest lecture cum Seminar was organized on the theme Sustainovation, where Mrs. Nusrat Khatri, an renowned environmentalist spoke on steps to conserve environment.

Dr. Priti Gupta and Dr. Prajakta Jadhav has completed the NEP 2020 Orientation and Sensitization Programme under Malaviya Mission Teacher Training PRogramme organized by UGC-MMTTC from 13th November to 24th November 2023.
Dr. Priti Gupta attended a 7 days FDP on Climate Change and its impact in Pune from 8th January 2024 to 13th January 2024.
Dr. Priti Gupta and Dr. Prajakta Jadhav attended a one-day seminar on “Indian Knowledge system in Higher Education Curricula’ by Prof. K. Ramasubramanian, IIT Bombay held in Thakur College of Science and Commerce on 24th February 2024.

Dr. Prajakta Jadhav Guided learners to Aavishkar Research Convention 2023-24. The project on “An Assessment of Cost Benefit Analysis of Installing Rainwater Harvesting Mechanisms in Subrurban Region: Case Study of Thakur Village, Kandivali, Mumbai Suburban” was selected for Zonal Round Poster Competition.

Mr. Vishal Joshi from Fybcom P participated in mahakumbh Mela startup event organised at New Delhi. This event was addressed by Honorable PM Mr Narendra Modi.
Ms. Hrisheeta Dhisle participated and won first prize in Photography Competition organized by Inner Wheel Club of Bombay, Kandivali on occasion of World Photography Day on 10th August 2023. Apart from here 3 other learners from college were awarded the prizes.

Social Work
Beach Clearning Drive
Beach cleaning drive organized along with BMM and BBI department in association with Khushiyaan Foundation. Every Saturday from the month of September 2023 the learners from Fybcom and Fy Professional courses were visiting different beaches for cleanup drive. They were guided by the volunteers of Khushiyaan Foundation at the beach.
E-Waste Collection Drive
Department of EVS and FC along with Department of BAMMC and Department of BBI in association with THRECO, The learners were given awareness about the e-waste through guest lecture and seminars and were motivated to collect the same from their residential campuses to be submitted in the college. This academic year, on 26th January 2024, the learners along with the teachers also conducted the e-waste collection drive from the societies of Thakur Village.
1) Department of BCom (Hons) organized a session titled “HR Dynamics in New Age Businesses” was conducted on 9th September 2023. The event was addressed by Ms. Pankhuri Kumari (Vice President-CCP, YES Bank Ltd.). A total of 50 participants benefitted as the speaker provided a very insightful and informative session on creating a conducive work environment, offering growth opportunities, and ensuring healthy work-life balance. The speaker also emphasized on the role of HR in developing policies that support remote work.
2) A Guidance lecture on “Awareness Program on Commodity Derivatives” was conducted on 9th January 2024, addressed by Mr. Debojyoti Dey (AVP at Multi Commodity Exchange of India). A total of 56 participants benefitted as the speaker guided them about various categories of contracts on commodities, how regulations affect trading volumes on different commodity exchange.
3) A Guest Lecture on “Professional Ethics and Corporate Etiquettes” was organized by the department of BCom (Hons), Thakur College of Science and Commerce on 20th February 2024. The lecture’s Guest speaker CA Mohit Gupta enlightened students the importance of office etiquettes and E-mail etiquettes. He also conducted fun activity to understand various aspects of office organization in depth. Total of 72 students benefitted as the speaker guided them about value of time management, punctuality, communication skills, proper documentation and various other topics during interactive session.
