About the Department
The B.Com (Honours) programme at Thakur College of Science & Commerce is a distinctive 3-year undergraduate course—one of the few in India to award an Honours degree in just three years. Launched in 2020, it provides a robust academic foundation in accounting, finance, and taxation, while also preparing students for professional qualifications such as CA, CFA, ACCA, and CS. The department is highly appreciated for its engaging and career-oriented activities, including guest lectures on entrepreneurship, financial markets, and personal branding, which enrich students' practical knowledge and soft skills. With a focus on employability, ethical values, and industry readiness—supported by ICT tools, mentorship, and career guidance—the programme enables a good number of students to secure placements in reputed organizations and pursue successful professional paths.
Activities & Events conducted in the year 2024-2025
Department of B.Com (Hons) organized a session titled “Entrepreneurship: A Career Avenue for CA’s” was conducted on 21st Aug 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The event was addressed by CA Monica Gupta. A total of 64 participants benefitted as the speaker provided the students insights into what it takes to embark on the journey of startups, investing, angel investing informing more about SIP, ZERODHA, DPIIT, Private Equity as an asset class, modern investor’s portfolio over the years. At the end question answer session was conducted and the knowledgeable insights and Guidance helped the students and motivated them towards saving and investing.
A Guidance lecture on “Fundamentals of Commodities Derivatives Market” was conducted on 10th March 2025, addressed by Mr. Kamlesh Jogi (Manager, Strategy & Research Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX)). Participants benefitted as the lecture proved to be insightful for the 46 participants, as Mr. Jogi provided valuable guidance on the different categories of commodity contracts and explained how regulatory frameworks impact trading volumes across various commodity exchanges.
A Guest Lecture on “The Power Persona: Building an Unshakable Personal Brand” was organized by the department of BCom (Hons), Thakur College of Science and Commerce on 12th March 2025. The lecture’s Guest speaker Ms. Manimekhalai Sethuraman Iyer (Asst. Prof. Dnyan Ganga Education’s Trust, Degree College of Arts, Commerce & Science, Thane). The speaker delivered an engaging session highlighting the importance of effective communication in both personal and professional life. A total of 50 participants benefitted from the session, which focused on key aspects such as verbal, non-verbal, and written communication, with special emphasis on office and email etiquettes. The speaker also stressed the significance of time management, punctuality, and interpersonal skills. Through interactive discussions, students were encouraged to enhance their communication abilities to build confidence and achieve success in various spheres of life.

Priyansh Gang (SYBcom Hons, 16146), Krrish Agarwal (FYBcom Hons, 16047), Nikita Nazareth (FYBcom Hons, 16002) and Harshit Mishra (SYBcom Hons, 16145) have successfully cleared CA Foundation from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) June 2024.
Rekha Patel (SYBcom Hons, 16148), Sanjana Ranade (FYBcom Hons, 16014) and Sanjana Ranade (FYBcom Hons, 16014) has successfully cleared CA Foundation by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) September 2024.
Hetanshu Kamdar (SYBcom Hons, 16132) has successfully cleared CA Foundation from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) December 2024.
Jai Helgaonkar (SYBcom Hons, 16104), Deeksha Nayak (SYBcom Hons, 16102) and Radhika Gujar (SYBcom Hons, 16136) has successfully cleared CA Intermediate both the groups from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) May 2024.
Krisha Chhajer (SYBcom Hons, 16134) has successfully cleared CFA level by Chartered Financial Analyst from CFA Institute in November 2024.
Prinal Hadgal (FYBcom Hons, 16018) has successfully cleared CS Foundation from Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) June 2024.
Muskan Shaikh (SYBcom Hons, 16156) has successfully cleared CS Executive first group from Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) June 2024.
Tannu Kumari (TYBcom Hons, 16142) has successfully cleared CS Executive both the groups from Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) June 2024.

Mr. Manojkumar L Mishra was invited as a Viva Voce examiner at Bhavan's College, Andheri, Mithibai College Vile parle and KES college Kandivali on Date.
Invited as Resource Person:
Mr. Manojkumar L Mishra was invited as a Subject Expert by Nav Bharat Times (a leading Hindi Newspaper) for giving tips to the HSC learners in Book Keeping and Accountancy papers.
Achievements for Faculty Development Programme Short Term Course:
Mr. Manojkumar L Mishra successfully completed 1-Week Short Term Course on “Research Methods and Techniques” organised by UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, University of Mumbai, sponsored by RUSA from 20 September, 2024 to 26 September, 2024.
Mr. Manojkumar L Mishra successfully completed 1-Week Short Term Course on “E-Content Development” organised by UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, University of Mumbai, sponsored by RUSA from 17 March, 2025 to 22 March, 2025.
