PEPtalk – Orientation Session

(Session)

The English Literary Association (ELA), Department of Business Communication, organized PEPtalk – an Orientation Session for all Degree College learners on 1st July 2025 at the Seminar Hall, 1st Floor, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

The session aimed to provide learners with a warm welcome and essential information about the functioning, objectives, and opportunities offered by the ELA. It guided learners towards realizing their aspirations and dreams through various academic and co-curricular engagements.

The event successfully familiarized learners with the vision and mission of the ELA, ensuring an enthusiastic start to the academic year 2025–2026. 291 learners attended the session







Elder Abuse Awareness Drive – “Take a Stand”

(Value)

On 15th June 2025, the Department of Business Communication and the English Literary Association conducted an Awareness Drive on Elder Abuse, titled “Take a Stand.”

As part of the initiative, students of ELA created and produced an informational video highlighting the issue of elder abuse and the urgent need for awareness and sensitivity toward elders. The video was circulated across all class groups to maximize outreach.

The drive successfully spread the message that “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours,” instilling empathy and responsibility among learners.











INK IT – Essay Writing Competition

(Special Day)

The Department of Business Communication, in collaboration with the Department of Law, organized an essay writing competition “INK IT” on the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day (28th July 2025). 152 learners participated in this competition.

Students were invited to write essays on topics such as Sustainable Agriculture, Role of Technology in Environmental Conservation, Green Energy, and Corporate Social Responsibility. The essays were required to be original, handwritten, and within 1000–2000 words.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from degree college learners, who showcased their perspectives on sustainable development and environmental consciousness.

World Youth Skills Day 

(Peer Learning Session)

On 15th July 2025, the Department of Business Communication and ELA celebrated World Youth Skills Day by organizing a peer learning session titled “Ignite & Inspire.”  

Held at the Presentation Room, 5th Floor, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the session emphasized the importance of skill development as a superpower for youth. 40 learners engaged in peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, motivating each other to nurture and sharpen their abilities for future growth.

The event successfully highlighted the spirit of collaboration and the role of skills in empowering young learners.












International Youth Day – Student Podcast

(National Integration)

To commemorate International Youth Day (12th August 2025), the Department of Business Communication and ELA produced a special podcast titled “India Through Young Eyes: Youth Vision & Actions for National Integration.”

The podcast, recorded, was supervised by faculty and featured student speakers discussing the role of youth in fostering unity, awareness, and national progress.

It was released digitally on 12th August 2025, receiving positive responses from students and faculty for its creative presentation and thought-provoking insights.











59TH AD SHROFF MEMORIAL ELOCUTION COMPETITION

(Intercollegiate)

The preliminary round for the 59th AD Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition was held on 13th August 2025. The competition is an intercollegiate event, and the winner gets to compete with other colleges in Mumbai. It was an unparalleled opportunity for the students of TCSC and an opportunity to encourage future leaders to express their opinions. The speakers were required to speak on:

Ode to Mneme – Photography & Caption Writing Competition

(CARRE)

On the occasion of World Photography Day (19th August 2025), the ELA, Department of Business Communication organized “Ode to Mneme,” a Photography and Caption Writing Competition.

Learners were required to post their original photographs on Instagram under the theme “Click for a Cause: Nature Through My Lens”, along with a creative caption, and collaborate with the official ELA page.

E-certificates were awarded to all 32 participants, while the best entries were declared winners. The event encouraged students to blend creativity with environmental sensitivity, using photography as a medium of expression.

International Literacy Day

(Extension Activity)

On the occasion of International Literacy Day (8th September 2025), the English Literary Association organized a Teaching Session on “Digital Literacy: AI Tools for Daily Use” at Enrich Lives Foundation (NGO).

A group of 10 selected Degree College learners, under faculty supervision, conducted the session for underprivileged parents associated with the NGO. The learners demonstrated simple and practical AI tools that could support everyday tasks, thereby promoting digital awareness and empowerment.

The initiative not only spread knowledge but also allowed students to experience social responsibility by contributing to community development. The parents responded with great enthusiasm, appreciating the hands-on approach and the relevance of the training.








Soirée of Words – Poetry Writing Competition

(STEP)

The English Literary Association conducted “Soirée of Words”, a Poetry Writing Competition, during the academic year 2025–2026 to celebrate imagination, creativity, and poetic expression.

The theme for the competition was “Guru: Alchemy of Wisdom.” Learners were encouraged to submit original poems in any form—Blank Verse, Rhymed Poetry, Free Verse, or Narrative Poetry—within a word limit of 150–200 words. Entries were accepted in handwritten or typed hard copies until 13th September 2025.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from learners across streams. 20 learners expressed their reverence for teachers and mentors through powerful and imaginative poetic creations. Winners were appreciated for their originality, depth, and artistic flair.

Communication & Beyond

(Guest Lecture)

The English Literary Association (ELA), Department of Business Communication, organized a Guest Lecture on “Communication & Beyond” on Friday, 19th September 2025, at the Seminar Hall (1st Floor)- 10:30 AM

The resource person for the session was Ms. Shalini Rathod, a Soft Skills and Public Speaking Trainer as well as a Social Media Influencer. She shared valuable insights into the role of effective communication in personal and professional life, highlighting how communication extends beyond words into body language, presence, and digital influence.

The session provided learners with practical knowledge, motivation, and confidence to refine their communication skills. It was well received by students, who interacted actively and benefited from the real-life examples shared by the speaker. 324 learners attended the session.



International Non-Violence Day

(Special Day)

On the occasion of International Non-Violence Day, celebrated globally on 2nd October 2025 to honour Mahatma Gandhi, the pioneer of peace and non-violence, the Department of Business Communication and the English Literary Association (ELA) organized an Awareness Drive for all Degree College learners.

As part of the initiative, the students of ELA took the creative lead in shooting and producing an informative video centred on the philosophy of non-violence. The video featured messages delivered by teachers, emphasizing the relevance of Gandhian values such as truth, compassion, and empathy in contemporary times. The collaborative effort between faculty and students highlighted how non-violence is not merely the absence of conflict but a conscious practice of patience, understanding, and respect. The final video was circulated across all class groups to spread the message widely among learners. The activity successfully promoted the ideals of peace and harmony while encouraging students to adopt non-violence as a guiding principle in both communication and conduct.
