Department of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) organized a sumptuous fresher’s party for the batch of 2017 – 18 on 8th August, 2017. The theme was ‘BEYOND THE GALAXY’. The theme itself gives us message of “To think about the parallel universe, new world where people live in peace. They feel safe and give social values and social security a great importance.”  The purpose of this event is that every fresher of BAF department feels like an integral part and readies to take on the challenges of the year ahead.




Guidance Lectures by BAF alumni and other industrial experts

Meeting with an NGO (TOHF)
On 16th June, 2017 department organized a session on TOHF (Teresa the Ocean of Humanity Foundation is an NGO started by the alumni of our own BAF Department. Mr. Prince Tiwari, a qualified CA who left his job and started working in 2011 seeing the street children on traffic signal he thought of doing something for these underprivileged children. The session was guided by Monika Jha (Director of TOHF).
Physical Education v/s Classroom education
On 24thJune, 2017 Nachiket Palav (Alumni- Football Player for Air India Team) of Thakur College of Science and Commerce gave the importance of sports in today’s life and how it changes on life.
Hard work and perseverance is the route to success
On 1st July, 2017 Abhishruti Nair (Alumni- Pursing Higher Education in Canada) of BAF department spoke about her journey and how hard work and perseverance leaded to success.
Classroom to Corporate
On 8th July, 2018 Anam Abdul (Alumni- Working at JP Morgan) of BAF department told how it’s difficult to manage between studies and job and studies should be done prior to enter into corporate world.
Master our skills and keep upgrading them
On 13th July, 2017 Anish Modi (Alumni- Team leader for Accenture) gave an informative session on how to be confident and how failure only leads towards success.
Dream a goal you want to chase
On 13thJuly, 2017 Vivek Soni (Alumni) of BAF Department shared his own experience in college and how to manage time between academics and also extracurricular activities.
E- Commerce
On 25th July, 2017 Meghavi Rajguru (Alumni) who was a national Gold Medalist in Judo-Karate told the importance of E- Commerce in today’s time and she is an E-Commerce Officer, PNG Jewelers.
Be Confident in whatever you do
On 5th august, 2017 Chandan Handa (Alumni) .The session started by viewing short film and he motivated and guided the students how confidence plays an important role in one’s life.
Job Opportunities in construction industry
On 9th September, 2017 Abhishek Singh (Alumni- Entrepreneur in Construction Industry) gave a brief about how employment opportunities in construction sector and explained about the rising demand of event managers and opportunities in these fields.

Classical music v/s Western music
On 23rd September, 2017 Om Pandey who is a table player. He showed his skill and talent in tabla and told how music changes one’s life.
Welfare of the Environment
On 7th October, 2017 Dr. Shaheen Desai gave the importance of environment in today’s time and how one need to save the environment from being polluted and also shared about the how to overcome problems related to health.
How to crack interviews
On 9th December, 2017 CA Neeraj Parekh (Alumni) who gave a brief about how to face interviews and what type of questions would be asked and how important is being confident and hardworking.
Financial planner as a career
On 6th January, 2018 Jemini Mehta and Isha Nayani shared their experience about how CFP is important in today’s time and gave a brief about it.
Determination and Hard work
On 13th January, 2018 Jeenal Tank (Alumni) shared her experience in being an entrepreneur and how difficult is to face the ups and does in one’s business and motivated the young people to be an entrepreneur.




Mantra 2k17

"MANTRA" is the most cherished and core event of the Department Of BAF of Thakur College for almost 6 years now. The department makes it a point to invite some very intellectual and rational speakers every year that would give the young audience of the college a relevant and an ethical perspective about life. So that the students learn and gain something new and positive apart from their curriculum and respective courses. This event is an intellect deliberate and a very refreshing opportunity.



Workshops

Goods and services tax awareness campaign
This workshop was conducted on 30th June, 2017. The main aim of this workshop was to enlighten all the students, teaching staff as well as non-teaching staff of Thakur College of Science and Commerce. The students shared the knowledge about the GST to various stakeholders along with its implications as it is the biggest tax reform system in India. The stream was divided into 5 main streams: Introduction, Rates, Registration, Input Tax credit, & Conclusion. Everyone appreciated the efforts taken up by the department of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) and it was proposed to keep such workshop in future also.
Revision of syllabus
This workshop was conducted on 3rd February, 2018. The main objective of this Workshop was to receive constructive valuable suggestions from various stakeholders. All the departments of Thakur College of Science and Commerce took active part in this workshop. Dignitaries and various stakeholders appreciated the efforts taken by the department Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance). This workshop was divided into 2 sessions Inaugural and Technical Session. Principal Ma’am addresses various stakeholders and dignitaries Dr. T. P Madhu Nair, Dr. Ajay Bhamare and Dr. Vijay Joshi.



Budget 2k18
This workshop was conducted on 8th February, 2018. The workshop was on “BUDGET PE CHARCHA” under mentoring of Indian Profession Courses. The speakers were the students of BAF Department. Various students of Thakur college of Science and Commerce took a part in this workshop. The speakers shared their knowledge about Budget 2018 to all the students who actively participated. This was the most interactive session ever ahead.
NO – ONE CAN OWN ANYONE!
The initiative to promote the women empowerment a new way came in form of Mrs. Triveni Balkrishna Acharya. The department of B.A.F. has conducted a small workshop with Mrs.Triveni in Thakur College Of Science & Commerce on Dated: 23rd February, 2018. She was a journalist and currently is the president of the Rescue Foundation.
