From Zero To Hero!
On
the7th of July, 2018, we had our first SMILE Lecture for the year
2018-2019. Our first guest was Mr. Vishal Vishwakarma who is currently
the Regional Manager of Mumbai and working as Forex Advisor of entire
MAHARASHTRA at Karvy Stock Brokings. He is also a nutrition expert and a
certified gym trainer at Powerhouse Gym. To sum up with, the session
had great learnings as well as was fun having him as a speaker. He is a
person who has achieved everything by himself and the one who takes
complete responsibility of his family. He is truly an inspiration for
all of us.
Commodities and Derivatives Market

Students of TY BAF & SY BAF experience on 10th July 2018 there was a
major workshop held in our Thakur College of Science & Commerce by
the BAF DEPARTMENT. The main agenda behind conducting this seminar was
to make the students gain knowledge about the COMMODITIES AND
DERIVATIVES MARKET. The speaker for the same was MR. SATYAJEET
CHATTOPADHYAY. He with 25 years of experience and started his journey in
1982 with TOI as a journalist.
GST Workshop
The
Department of Accounting and Finance (BAF) of Thakur college of Science
and Commerce organised a GST workshop on 13th July, 2018. The workshop
was held on the 6th floor in room numbers 608, 618 and 619 which started
at 10.30 AM. It continued to serve the students till 4 PM. A similar
kind of GST awareness campaign was conducted by the BAF Dept. last year
too. The continuous guidance and support by Co-ordinator of BAF Dept.
Dr. Nishikant Jha, Mohammed Sadiq Hasan sir, Sagar Shinde sir and
dedication by the students made the event possible. The team consisted
of 12 students was formed which was working from past three weeks before
the workshop to make it more fruitful for the participants. The team
included speakers and volunteers which was led by Saransh Gupta (TYBAF),
Kamal Patel (TYBAF), Mohit Mehta (TYBAF) and Technical Head Harsh
Sedani (TYBAF).

BAF
SMILE lecture 4th January 2019 was a very beautiful experience; the
seniors had kept various performances including skits and music for the
juniors. This was later followed by two skits which were both based on
the condition of women in our country.
Create Your Own Sunshine
On
the 14th July 2018 we had our second SMILE lecture for the
year 2018-2019. Our Guests were our Alumni Mr. Akash Jain and Mr. Dhiraj
Dugar who are qualified as MBA in finance. They were also active in
college cultural fests like Tarangan, Mantra and many more. They guided
us to several phases of life where in we need to overcome our fears and
become confident. They mentioned two common fears faced by everyone for
all 64 Students.
Empowering Minds, Building Careers
On
17th July 2018 there was a small workshop conducted by MT Educare’s
CPLC classes. The main motive of MT Educare’s CPLC is Empowering Minds
and Building Careers. This class provides various courses that are CAT,
CET, NMAT, GMAT, BBA, BANK EXAMS and many more.
Seminar on CIMA course
A
guidance session was conducted for 91 students on 28thJuly 2018, BAF’s
SMILE conducted a session. The invitee was our BAF alumni Mr. Animesh
Choudhary. He is currently working as an Assistant Manager with a
leading educational institute and also teaching CIMA (Chartered
Institute of Management Accountants) course. The main topic that Animesh
Sir spoke about was the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management
Accounting) course, which is a UK (United Kingdom) based course, is the
world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants.
Seminar on CFP & CFA Course
A
guidance session was conducted for 83 students by BAF’s SMILE on 4th
August 2018 having CFP Malav Himanshu Bhogaita as our guidance lecturer.
He is currently pursuing his studies in M.Com 2nd year along with the
CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accounting) course. He has
completed his graduation in BAF from Thakur College and has pursued
various affiliated certified courses such as CFP (Certified Financial
Planner) (USA), Certified Debt Investment Professional under NSC
(National Stock Exchange), Certificate of Thinking Strategically in
Managerial Decision by Rustomjee Business School, BEC (Business English
Certificate) from Cambridge University, Digital Marketing and Basic
Tally.
Reality v/s Imaginary Life
For
the very first time, a session that was conducted on 11th August 2018
was by our FY (First Year) students lead by Mr. Kamal Bansal along with
his team. He is currently persuing his CFP (Certified Financial Planner)
USA and GFMP (Global Financial Market Professional Program) from BSE
(Bombay Stock Exchange) along with BAF. This session started with Kamal
showing us an inspirational video about life which sparked up our
thoughts and boosted the environment of the session.
Workshop on Research Methodology
The workshop was scheduled for 2
days i.e. 28th and 29th September 2018 in Thakur College of science and
commerce on fifth floor (Digital lab) from 10:00am to 4:00 pm on both
the days including lunch breaks. In all 30 students and 3 teachers
attended the workshop. The speakers for both the days were Ms.
ShobhanaNadar, from Guru Nanak Khalsa College of Arts, Science and
Commerce. She has done masters in statistics and is guest speaker for
SPSS, R prog and EXCEL and Dr. Nishikant Jha who is coordination of BAF
in Thakur College of Science and commerce and a Guest speaker for Basics
of Research methodology and usage of Excel in Research Work.
On
21st August, 2018; “Jashn 2018 - A Fresher’s party” was organized by
the students of T.Y. BAF and S.Y. BAF OF Thakur College of Science And
Commerce’ in order to roll out the red carpet for their junior in the
BAF PARIVAR. The theme of CINEMA was chosen after a lot of brainstorming
and fishing expedition. The theme really pushed the spectacular letter
out of envelope which attracted loads of cheers. Our motive was the
event should be mass appealing and pull up varied unique forms vogue on
the Mise en Scene.
Mantra
is a seminar organised by the department of Accounting and Finance and
the department of Business Communication of Thakur college of science
and commerce every year. Mantra 2018-19 was the most interesting and
interactive seminar till date based on the topics of CYBER SECURITY and
SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL WELLNESS. The seminar started with lighting the
lamp for Maa Saraswati by Mr. Sachin Dedhia, Mr. Sachin Kamle, Mrs. Rama
Ray and Dr. Nishikant Jha, a very pleasant start to the seminar. Our
first speaker Mr. Sachin Dedhia was an independent cyber-crime
investigator and a certified ethical hacker; he is a certified
international trainer for cyber security, ethical hacking, cyber-crime
investigation and digital forensics. He is one of the most popular
speakers for Mumbai University for refresher and orientation department.
Our second speaker Mr. Sriram Athri was a corporate trainer and trained
under Prasana trust of SWAMI SUKHBODHANANDA and now a trustee of
Prasana Trust.
It
is rightly said that a journey begins from the day you start with the
planning and so our journey began in September wherein unanimously it
was decided to go on a trip to north of India. After much brainstorming,
the final places and itinerary decided was Haridwar - Auli - Jim
Corbett- Nainital.
An
Industrial Visit was organized for the students of Thakur College of
Science and Commerce from 25th to 28th January 2019 to Mahabaleshwar.
The visit was conducted for students studying in their First and Second
year and was open to all departments. Students from BAF, BMS, BIM, BBI,
BFM, BCOM and BMM joined in large numbers with a total of 259.
The
smile lecture on 22nd September 2018 was indeed a very different
experience, there was an excursion to a site where Mr. Afzal Khatri and
many students participated in a tree plantation drive, Our mentor for
the lecture Mr. Afzal Khatri is a recipient of “Indira Gandhi Paryavaran
Puraskar 2007” jointly under individual category first prize from the
President of India, at Vigyan Bhavan New Delhi, on 5th June 2009 on
world environment day.
Summit
2019 kept on 11 Feb 2019 was a very memorable experience for all of us.
It was the most different programme held in the college. Based on the
budget of year 2018 and year 2019, Summit 2019 was a comparative study
of the respective year budget followed by a group discussion on 2 major
trending topics related to the budget.
