Since its establishment in the year 2003 - 04, the department has grown up achieving major milestones. Current Academic Year 2022-23 has been a quite uplifting year for the department due to unlock not only in academics but also in extra- curricular activities. The BAF Department of Thakur College of Science and Commerce organised “Mantra 23” on the 5th of October 2023 at the Thakur College of Science and Commerce auditorium. It was the 15th edition. The session was organised by the TYBAF and SYBAF students along with the BAF faculty. This year the speakers were CA Arpit Kabra the Chairman of Western India Regional Council, (WIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Adv Swapnendu Kumar Mishra who has been working independently since 2011 and he has been the Sr. Manager at Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries. There were 370 participants. CA Arpit Kabra spoke about career as a CA and how the syllabus of Chartered Accountancy is set to help the students in their professional life. He shared an amazing story of a student of his who overcame hardships of her life and became a Chartered Accountant. Adv.Swapnendu Kumar Mishra shared knowledge from his vast experience in the field of taxation and marketing with the participants about his experience as an advocate and how students of commerce should be aware about the laws and keep themselves updated with the latest news and changing laws.

“JASHN 23” was organized by second and third year students along with the help of faculties for welcoming freshers. The event started off with a speech by Nishikant sir where he warmly welcomed the freshers in the BAF parivar. Then the event started off with BAND which made everyone enjoy and sing along .The next performance was by the FY students who had opted for Mr.and Miss fresher,2023. Starting off with the fashion show and introduction. There were spectacular performances of dance, drama, fashion show organized by seniors. After a tough competition among freshers Mr. Nitin Sharma (FYBAF D) was held as Mr. Fresher 2023 and Miss Shrushti Jain (FYBAF D) was held as Miss fresher 2023.

On 12th of March,2024; the department of BAF organized FIFO, farewell to TY students. It was organized by the first year and the second-year students along with the help of faculties. There were various spectacular performances by the students. There was award distribution ceremony for TYBAF students who have excelled in field of academics , research or contributed in the sectors like , sports, cultural and social activities. To honour them for their contributions, awards were given to each of them along with the certificates. It was a memorable event organized by the department.

On 27th February ,2024 Department of B. Com (Accountancy and Finance) in collaboration with WRC-ICAI organized GST and IND-AS workshop. The speakers for the Workshop were Dr Nishikant Jha and CA Vikas Asawa. Various concepts with examples and case study on IND-AS and GST were explained in detail by the speakers to the learners. There were 316 students who attended the workshop.

Department of BAF organized a Guest lecture on Climate Finance in presentation room by one of the most known Professor, Mr. Simone Varotto an expert in the field with extensive experience. Learners got insight on what it's relevance, what is COP28 and Paris agreement, what is climate finance? How will it affect us in the future? What are the measures that are to be taken after this as it was a totally new topic for the learners. There were 44 students present for the same It was highly informative, engaging, and beneficial lecture to the students.

On 8th September 2023, the department of BCom (Accounts and Finance) held an event name GST, which was a great opportunity for all the students to learn about the new education policy (NEP) and the new laws enforced in the GST. The event was divided into 3 parts: The first part consisted of the brief explanation about GST i.e when was it enforced, how does it help the common people, how is it divided etc. The second part consists of brief explanation about The National Education Policy ( NEP). The last part consisted of a small game section where students where asked some few questions about the GST and where presented some bills. More than 520 students participated in the event

A “Voting Awareness Session” was conducted by BAF Department on 30th January 2023. The officials present were Mr. Gopal Namdev Kadam, Enumerator 154 Magathane Assembly Constituency, Mrs. Kalyani Babar, Supervisor 154 Magathane Assembly Constituency, Mr. Prashant D. Tambe BLO. They guided students about the importance of voting, and how voting for a perfect candidate is important for the growth of the nation.
BAF Department also conducted the quiz for the same for voting awareness among learners on on account of National Voters day. 410 students attended the same.

TCSC FY BAF LEARNERS at beach cleaning with CHILD HELP FOUNDATION, on 1st October to celebrate SwachhataPakhwada - Swachhata hi seva An initiative by our honourable Prime Minister NARENDRA MODI JI. 7 FYBAF students participated in this activity.
Department of BAF & Department of BBI in association with WIRC ICAI participated in Mega Start-up event on the theme “Start Up Sphere: Towards Better Tomorrow” on 27Th June 2023.The students evet was held at Jio World Centre , Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The students gained knowledge and information on topics like New avenues, Indian Start ups on a Global Platform, Exhibitions from eminent Start ups. There were concurrent sessions on contemporary issues of MSME and start ups. 498 students attended the event . The students were assisted by faculties

REFORESTATION AT RAMBAUGH , SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK
Date :5 th, 8th and 13th July, 2023
Dept. of BAF conducted the activity of reforestation at Rambaugh , Sanjay Gandhi national park with the help of Mr. and Mrs Nushrat Khatri (Recipient of President award) and with the cooperation of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) along with other local help. FY, SY, and TY BAF students participated in the activity. The drive was carried out on three days: July 5th, 8th, and 13th, 2023 & 8th February 2024. All the participant students reported to the college campus at 7:00 AM with great enthusiasm. The day started with some encouraging speeches given by Mrs Khatri Ma’am, who made students understand the agenda for which they gathered there that day. She spoke about how every human being has some social responsibility towards the nourishment of Mother Nature and how every citizen should take part in the task of nurturing the environment by being selfless. The speech had a great impact on learners and boosted their energy for working. 37 students participated in this activity. Approx. 1600 trees were planted.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT
Department of BAF organized Industrial Visit for TYBAF students from 21st Dec to 29th Dec 2023. Total 68 students , consisting of 32 girls and 36 boys went for Industrial visit to Rishikesh – Haridwar – Jim Corbett – Nainital. Students visited Korbet Plywood industry on the 5th Day at Jim Corbett, The excursion provided an insightful look into the transformation of raw logs into the versatile and widely used material - plywood. Through the industrial visit to the plywood factory students learnt the concept of process costing, marginal costing and operating costing etc.

On 3rd February 2024, BAF SMILE lecture was organized by department of BAF TCSC. Khyati Bhati, Sundar Tak, Shikha Desai and Varahi Chawla (TYBAF learners) were speakers for the same. They shared their experience about the IAA ACCATHON ’24 event in Nirma University. The team secured the runner up position for Financial Analysis competition. The very spontaneous and quick-witted team shared their struggles and fun they had while preparing for this competition. The team discussed with us how they had to do an activity outside their expertise and skill. The team explained how efficient their teamwork was and how each one of them participated actively in it. This session was truly a great inspiration for learners to take part in such future competitions. 63 students were present for the same.

BAF Smile session was conducted for FYBAF Students . Mr Vikas Visshwarkarma, BAF alumni was the speaker for the session. He spoke on “GODLEN CIRCLE” which plays a very significant role in our lives. The first or the outer circle consists of the question “what”. The second consist of the question “how” and the last question consist of the question “why”. He also spoke on , M.O.D i.e. MISTAKE, OVERTHINKING AND DRUGS , which is something that has influenced or is found among most of the youths. There were 74 FY BAF learners who attended the session.

On 6th January 2024, TCSC BAF department organised BAF SMILE lectures to illuminate and guide the FY learners. Sanya Sanhi enlightened studentson various topics that would help them upskill their talents. She shared how she was a part of research department in BAF and how it helped her. She suggested students to be active in the activities conducted in colleges and take advantage of it to get good credit scores and how the success in events motivated her to participate in more competitions and be a leader. 75 Students were present for the session.

On 19th August 2023 a session was conducted regarding Cultural events of TCSC BAF under the guidance of Dr.Nishikant Sir. The speaker for the session was MR. Harsh Upadhyay ,he recently, he got featured in Economic Times for making Viral Memes on Shark Tank India around the time of January 2022-March 2022 The lecture was basic upon our cultural events like dance, drama, band, fashion show and etc. It was a brief about these events and how our HODs handled the event. A BAF SMILE Session was conducted by Mr. Vishal Vishwakarma (alumni of year 2017-18) under the guidance of Dr. Nishikant Sir. A person working since 21 year of age soon to retire in the year 2024 and have his new startup from 2025. Speaker explained the importance of working hard and being and an all rounder.105 Students were present for the same.

Mr Abhiroop Chakroverty who guided and informed learners about how he cleared his entrance MCET in which he score 99.93%ile . He also informed learners about his study schedules, difficulties he faced in clearing this entrance etc. He also spoke on avoiding wasting our time and start preparing for the entrance exam. It was a very great experience for 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year students to know about these critical problems and hurdles faced in journey of degree college and higher degree entrances. 97 students were present for the same.

It was a fun-filled session where students learned about these INTERNATIONAL COURSES CFA, CMA, ACCA etc. Many students were actively participating in the session. 65 students were present for the same.

BAF Smile session was organized to acquaint the students about various professional courses and opportunities that they can grab in their academic years. Mr Devendra Dubey currently works with BlackRock as an associate and he is part of global financial reporting team. Devendra stated that initially he was a ordinary studious learner who did not participate in activities or competitions but eventually opened up and became NSS leader in the college. He discussed how participating in activities and public speaking helped him built his confidence. He shared how he faced difficulties in applying for jobs due to delay in his final year's result but he somehow managed to crack the interview and work with KPMG India. He also served in Morgan Stanley and Randstad. He suggested opting for free online additional courses to enhance your resume that would make us stand out from the crowd. He recommended networking with other departments. Devendra attended student's questions with great details and gave really helpful tips and tricks to climb the corporate ladder while balancing our creative and entertaining side of ourselves. 39 students were present for the same.

The session was conducted on Research and research methodology. In this session she introduced the freshers with research, how its done, its methodology and other various aspects of research. The students had also participated in aavishkar. This session was an illuminating one where the students learned and came across with this novel concept of research and its significance in our daily endeavors. 56 students were present for the same.

Ms. Janvi Mehta completed her masters abroad in London, England. She currently manages her own company “Varun organics” and she has worked with various organisations at various positions as a marketing and communication executive, brand strategy manager, social media intern and much more. Ms. Janvi Mehta shared about her study and stay in England, how she managed her professional and personal life, what dissimilarities in education system of India and foreign lands. She also brought out the topic of mental health and how it is considered a taboo in our country and neglected which should change. 105 students were present for the same.

Kritika Gupta and Siddhesh Pagdhare are currently pursuing MBA from Business school. Kritika was a part of the cultural committee of TCSC. She was assistant leader of the cultural committee, anchoring head for the biggest event of TCSC “Taarangan” and also the lady representative. Siddhesh has also been very active participant in cultural events such as dance and other activities. . They both explained how it is essential to take up different activities in college events and take advantage of it while also studying. 63 students were present for the same.

Mr. Saaransh Gupta who is a qualified ACCA, MSc Business management from University of Nottingham, is an internal auditor , power Bi and Excel certified.. He has been currently working in an independent consultant in UK . He gave a brief talk about ACCA i.e how many examinations are to be given, how much time and amount is required for the completion of this course and what will be it's advantages. Not only this, but he also recommended us to get an Excel certified from certain sites like Coursera, with that he talked about the CGPA required in order to get a scholarship and what other things can boost CV. 51 students were present for the same.

Ankit Jha is a TYBAF Student who cleared CFA LEVEL 1 EXAM. Ankit Jha illuminated students how the study of CFA actually is and how to study while balancing the college and personal life. He explained how it is important to study certain subjects and the content one should emphasize more on and he explained , how to read the result of CFA since it is very complex. He introduced us to a calculator application that would help us solve problems easily. 30 students were present for the same.

On 20th of January, 2024 ,TCSC BAF had a very special guest who has been an ACCA rank holder Miss Khyati Bhatti. She has been holding 8th rank all over India and 5th rank all over the world in the level 3 of ACCA examination.It was a very informative and interesting session which talked about why to take ACCA , why is it given an atmost level of respect, how is it different from CA, what are the jobs available for the same ?Learners got to know that how flexible it is to give exams and what are the level of preparations to be done for each examination. 49 students were present for the same.
