Guest Lecture
Career Guidance: A career guidance seminar was organized by BBI department for the students of TYBBI and SYBBI on 12 December 2017. The speaker was Mrs. Poppy Sharma (principal of Soabji Poch Khanawala Banker Training College). She enlighten the students mostly the TY students about scopes in different fields. And she briefly explained everyone about investment banking because students were not aware about it.
Workshop Organized
Investor Awareness Workshop: On 21st August 2017 BBI Department organized an investor awareness workshop for the students of BBI. Our speaker for the day was Mr. Sharad Umeshchandra Shukla (SEBI Officer). He explained us about the setup and working of SEBI. He also explained about effects of GST on market.
Industrial Visit
Industrial Visit to RBI: On 06th SEP 2017, A Study visit was organized to RESERVE BANK OF INDIA (Pune) to gain knowledge about banking industry. The RBI representative briefed about the functioning of RBI and answered the queries of the learners. Program was very informative and enriched the knowledge of the learners. Visit was organized for TYBBI and SYBBI and they had great enthusiasm.
Flagship Events
Banking Conclave-17: Intercollegiate event “Banking Conclave” organized by our department which was held in the auditorium of Thakur College on 18th September 2017 from 10 am onwards. There were four resource person in the event which addressed the crowd from many colleges. People from different colleges had participated for the event like Dalmia, NL, Patkar, etc. There were more than 16 colleges who participated in this event. 1st session was conducted by Mr. Umesh Pherwani (Well Known Stand-up Comedian, Actor, Mind Expert, Trainer in Neuro Linguistic Programming). It was a lively & purely motivational session by Mr. Pherwani as he addressed the crowd with such enthusiasm that they were truly inspired. 2nd speaker of the day, Mr. Rachit Shah (Wealth Manager, IIFL Wealth Management), He was an excellent guide to students for making a C.V., how to prepare for an Interview. The 3rd Speaker of the day was Mr. Jinesh Shah (Director, Study Circle), He provided with a brief overview of GST, Digitalization in India, & other current affairs of the Indian Economy. Then the 4th & final Speaker was Mr. Prabhu Iyer (Asst. Manager, Kotak Mahindra Bank), who is an alumni of Dept. of BBI (2012-2015) guided on the topic Demonetization & its affects. Overall the event was a grand success.
Be A Banker: The Flagship event of Dept. of BBI “Be A Banker” was organized on 7rd February 2018. This was the 5th consecutive year. Team be a banker approached various states and took this event one level higher. The colleges from states were S.H Kelkar (Devdag), S.M.P.I.C College (Ahmedabad) and B.Y.K college (Nhasik) nearly 30 colleges from Mumbai like Jay Hind, Sydenham, S. M Shetty, and N.K College etc had participated. The guests were Mrs. Poppy Sharma principal of Soabji Poch Khanawala Banker Training College. Mr. Mahesh Rameema Regional Business Development Manager of Bank of Baroda, Mr. Sharad Sathe Director and Founder Member of Malad Sahkari Bank Ltd. The students of banking presented a small skit to create awareness about banking sector. Various competition like Quiz, Debate, Mr And Ms Banker, Elocution, PPT, Cricket and Football had been organized. PR games like snake & ladder and minute to win it were also kept. The best college award was won by “Jai Hind College” and the best CL award was won by “S.M.P.I.C College (Ahmedabad)”.
