Department of Commerce (Financial Markets) - Activities

1. BFM Department intends to promote a balanced skilled set, with intrigued ability to make the learners to understand better investment trends, financial market mechanisms and investor behavioural patterns that shape the decision-making and performance of our economy in generally. The Department has a regular student publication “The Finacle: Beyond Bulls and Bears” which enables the budding writers to put forward their opinion on matters concerning the world of Finance.

2. Career Opportunities in BFSI sector – STEP

On 16th July 2024 Dept. of BFM along with Dept. of BBI and BIM organised a guest lecture on “Career Opportunities in BFSI sector” which was headed by                                Mr. Aman Chawla – Founder of Edualyst Learning Curve with his wide knowledge and experience who guided almost 323 learners about different career options in Banking, Finance, Investment and Insurance sector in India and abroad.

3. National Integration – “Know Your Country” 

On 14th August 2024, Dept. Of Financial Markets in collaboration with Dept. of BBI and Dept. of BIM organised an event on National Integration "Know your Country" where students from various departments presented on different states of India. Each department prepared a PowerPoint presentation covering aspects like history, culture, cuisine, and tourism of their assigned state. Participants dressed in traditional attire and were judged based on knowledge, presentation skills, and responses to questions. The event promoted national integration and provided a platform for students to learn about India's diversity. There were total 56 participants of different department from college. Winners were as follow.

4. "Skill India - Mutual Fund as an Emerging Market" - STEP

On 20th August 2024, Dept. Of Financial Markets in collaboration with Dept. of BBI organised a highly engaging session titled "Skill India - Mutual Fund as an Emerging Market" was conducted by Mr. Aman Chawla, Founder of Finsaarthi Learning Solutions, and Ms. Riya Pandey, Senior Head at Finsaarthi Learning Solutions. 

The event, attended by 82 participants, was a part of the broader Skill India initiative, aimed at enhancing financial literacy and equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in India's rapidly evolving financial markets.

5. “Cryptstock Quest” – STEP

On 22nd August 2024 Dept. of BFM organised its distinctiveness event Cryptstock Quest which was grace by Mr. Umar Punjabi – Entrepreneur -The Alpha Trader and Fin-influencer who interact and share his trading experience and golden rules for trading with 508 participants from within and outside colleges. After informative session event was followed by virtual trading competition on online trading platform “StockGrow” during real trading hours where 319 participants show their talent of investment and earning through trading.

6. BSE Visit – STEP

On 28th August 2024 Dept. organised one day study visit to BSE for 2nd and 3rd year learners of BFM. Mr. Rakesh Nair – Head of Academics at BSE who highlighted function of stock exchange and its significance in Indian financial system to                     71 participants who gain knowledge from this visit.

7. “Environment and Us” – CARRE

On 4th December 2024 Dept. of BFM in collaboration with Dept. of BBI & BIM organised guest lecture on “Environment and Us” with enthusiastic participation of 121 attendees including faculties and environment enthusiasts. Lecture was taken by           Mr. Sushil R. Shinde NSS PO at TCSC who guide and share his vast knowledge on environment conservation and sustainability and gave mantra of 3R’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

8. Finstreet 2025 - STEP

On 16th and 17th January 2025 Dept. of BFM organised its distinct and most awaited thrilling financial fest “Finstreet’25” – Let the bull in you growl an inter-collegiate financial fest for two days which bought together 370 participants including 270 participants from 15 plus prestigious colleges across Mumbai. Mr. Sudip Banerjee, Vice President of Axis Bank was chief guest and inaugurated event. Event featured dynamic competitions and insightful discussions; challenging participants' financial

knowledge, analytical skills, and strategic decision-making abilities.

YES Securities “WONGA WITS” Inter-collegiate National Level Event Financial Literacy Quiz Competition 🏆

Our students Ayush Shigawan & Samad Khan won Second Place🥈 at the 1st YES Securities Wonga Wits Inter-Collegiate National Level Quiz Competition from more than 200 colleges and among 280 teams in the country.
