On 16th July 2022 department organised a guest lecture on the topic “Career Options in Financial Markets”.Speaker Mr.Aman Chawla-Founder Advisor Zarrori Hai spoke about the various career options available in the Financial Markets field that includes jobs as an investment banker, actuary, portfolio manager, quantitative analyst, securities trader, financial planner, financial analyst, and economic analyst. He also enlightened them with the skills that need to be acquired by the learners to take this opportunity. He guided them how finance skills are in high demand and the sector is expected to continue growing. And also throw light on the drawbacks of a career in finance can include high stress, long working hours, continuous education requirements, and, in some cases, limited job stability. Screening the Movie “The Big Short”
On19th July 2022, Department of BFM, along with Department of BAFTNMP and Economics screened the movie “The Big Short “at 7th floor Media Lab of TCSC.
The movie was screened, as it will create awareness about the financial world, shadiness, greed, ruthlessness combined with a corporate/political compartmentalization that makes it impossible to understand the problem of Sub Prime Crisis of 2008 that had impacted the entire world. Based on the book by Michael Lewis, “The Big short” is about how traders and hedge fund fortunes because they saw that housing market’s decline would cause a collapse of bonds contrived from sub-prime mortgages. Learners will understand how the debt and credit can prove dangerous and they need to be careful in dealing in the securities markets. Total students watched movie on the day are 82-Boys-56 & Girls 26.
On 23rd July 2022 Department of BFM along with BBI & BIM organised Presentation Competition- “Know Your Country”- National integration in the presentation room
National Integration helps to keep the country unified and strong from within despite the diversities. National integration plays a very important role in the political, economic, cultural and social dimensions of a country. To promote this, a presentation competition ‘Know your country’ was organised. Learners represented different states of our country and showed how there is unity in diversity. On 27th August 2022 Department of BFM along with BBI &BIM organised a workshop on Value Education- on the topic, “Hack to Crack Toughest Exams in Life” Speaker for the day was Mr.Vipul Agrawal,Deputy President at Axis Bank and Associate at ‘Voice’-youth wing of ISKON.Speaker,who is a IITician,and post graduate from IIM Calcutta shared his journey in cracking the toughest exams of CFA,FRM spoke about his experience of cracking the exams , but focussed on the appearing for real life exams. He explained, how the learner should focus on Purpose in life, and should not get distracted from the external forces. He explained importance of dedication and meditation in improving the concentration. He spoke about the values, learner should inculcate. Number of students: 121 59 boys 62 Girls
On 5th September 2022, BFM learners attended an online webinar on the topic, ‘Capital market Awareness ‘.Speaker, Mr. Amogh Gothoskar, spoke about the nuances of Capital Market. He gave insight about importance of investments and how to do safe long term investment in capital market. He advised the learners to go through the Mobile App introduced by SEBI on investor education. The program was conducted as BSE’s initiative on investor education .128 students participated in the webinar.68- Girls & 60 Boys
Skill Development program, under the initiative of skill enhancement was done on 7th September 2022.Mr.Nikhil Shined spoke about career in securities markets and NISM certificate courses. He explained how to prepare and appear for mandatory competitive examinations and gain knowledge about the various capital market instruments like Mutual funds, Derivatives and risk management.173 learners participated.92 Boys and 81 Girls.
BFM department along with BBI & BIM organised a e-content based Quiz competition on the topic-Legal provisions on Gender Equality on 29th September 2022.Information about the Laws protecting the women in India was provided. Learners had to go through the PPT slides and attempt the questions based on the legal provisions. This was done to create awareness about gender equality.232-participants attempted the quiz. 114 Girls & 118 Boys.
BFM learners visited Securities Exchange Board of India on 14th December 2022 as part of their study visit. SEBI provided information about the regulatory and the role of institution in safeguarding the interest of the investors. Learners learnt about the Grievance redressal mechanism and career options.35 learners participated.
