Experiential learning workshop
An experiential learning workshop was conducted on 20th July 2024, by the department for the second year learners of the department for skill development in the field of marketing of investment products. A group of 10 learners under the guidance of Ms Archita Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, visited HDFC Bank, Thakur Village branch and interacted with manager and the staff of the bank to understand the marketing of various financial products through the banks.
Guest Lecture titled Financial Literacy & Investment Workshop
The Department of Investment Management organised a Guest Lecture titled Financial Literacy & Investment Workshop for the Non Teaching staff of TCSC on 25th July 2024 from 9 a.m onwards at the college under criteria VI of IQAC. Resource person Mr Tanuj Poddar, founder of M/s BEAM Outsourcing an experienced finance professional with BFSI industry experience of 18 years enlightened the 33 non teaching staff members who were benefited by the session who asked various questions regarding financial management.
The Department of Investment Management organised a Guest Lecture titled Financial Literacy & Investment Workshop for the learners of TCSC on 25th July 2024 from 8 a.m onwards at the room no 513 of the college. Resource person Mr Tanuj Poddar, founder of M/s BEAM Outsourcing, an experienced finance professional with BFSI industry experience of 18 years broadened the knowledge base of 83 learners mainly from departments of BIM, BBI, BFM having finance background.
SAMAY- Timing the Market
With an objective of skill development of learners in the field of technical and fundamental analysis in equity markets an offline program titled SAMAY- Timing the Market was organised on 30th July 2024 from 9 a.m onwards. Resource person CFA Kunal Parar, VP, Technical Research and ALGO from M/s CHOICE EQUITY BROKING guided the 70 learners from BIM department through the nuances of technical and fundamental analysis in choosing the stocks and addressed questions on the impact of budget on the equity markets.
Peer to Peer learning workshop
A Peer to Peer learning workshop was organised for the learners of Second year BIM learners from 1st to 3rd August 2024 after the regular lectures under supervision of the teacher and using available infrastructure of classroom and teaching aids. Apart from the enhanced engagement of the learners with the fields of study, the advanced learners improved their communication skills and the slow learners were able to gain new perspectives of subjects which were hitherto lacking. 36 learners benefitted from this exercise.
GARV - Event on patriotism
To rekindle the spirit of patriotism and instill in the learners of the college the pristine glory of our motherland, the first year learners of the department through an event titled GARV undertook a Class to Class campaign under National Integration on 13th Aug 2024 under the guidance of Ms Dimple Thakker, Assistant Professor, to touch hearts of 1010 students of the college and speak to them of the facts that we Indians should feel proud of, which is the essence of Indian Knowledge System under NEP.
SAMPARK : Alumni connect
With an objective to deepen connect with the Alumni and learners to benefit from their association with the industry, the event titled SAMPARK was organised on 17th Aug 2024, 9 am onwards at the classroom. Learners of the department benefited from a guest lecture on Equity Research and career guidance was given by Mr Prince Chaudhury, passout of 2023-24 batch working equity research analyst at Pioneer Wealth Management Ltd
SANRAKSHAN: Event on water conservation
With an objective to develop social responsibility, department of Investment Management in collaboration with departments of Banking Insurance and Financial Markets under CARRE organised the event titled SANRAKSHAN on environment themed on Water Conservation on 21st Aug 2024. The event revolved around a reel making competition. 19 short reels each of duration 3 minutes on water conservation from different departments were screened and adjudged by Ms Prabjyot Kaur, Assistant Professor. Dhruv Sharma from B Com won the first position and Chirag Chowdhury from BIM secured the runners up position.
SANSKAR : Event on Value Education
Through an event titled SANSKAR, the students of the department of Investment Management in collaboration with departments of Banking Insurance and Financial Markets made aware 383 learners of the college importance of Value education through an online scenario test in the form of a quiz on 22nd Aug 2024. The learners were presented real life cases regarding honesty, integrity, compassion and respect for others and questioned what the learner will be behaving in that scenario. An online 20 question quiz was prepared under the guidance of Abhijit Ray, whose marks were let known and ideal answers were disclosed which acted as a Value compass to learners.
Guest lecture on investment banking
A guest lecture was organised on 6th Sep 2024 on Finance and Investment Banking at our classroom. CA Dr Kapil Thakore delved into topics on current investment scenario, investment banking and career opportunities in BFSI sector which benefitted 62 students of BIM department and answered the queries from enthusiastic students .
ANTAH PRERNA : event on women entrepreneurship
With an objective to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the learners the event titled ANTAH PRERNA was organised on 19th Sep 2024 at the Seminar hall of the college. Keeping in line with the encouragement given to women entrepreneurship by the Government of India, the event was dedicated to felicitate the women entrepreneurs Kalyani Chavali and Sahana Khan, who encouraged the 223 learners to take the path of entrepreneurship and how to overcome them.
Industrial Visit to FIMMDA
An Industrial Visit to head office of FIMMDA (Fixed Income Money Market and Derivatives Association of India) at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai was organised for the second year learners on 23rd Sep 2024. 12 learners were well received by the Mr Ravindranath Gandrakota, CEO himself and the learners were explained the nuances of fixed income markets by Prabuddha Dasgupta, Deputy CEO. The visit provided an experiential learning opportunity when they took a tour of the head office and interacted with the staff members.
World Investor Week
In line with the global norm of celebrating the World Investor Week by IOSCO, the department of Investment Management observed the World Investor Week from 7th October to 13h October. The event was marked by publishing online articles on investment, addressing queries about investment, different avenues of investment and future guidance. The articles were contributed by ex- students who had exhibited brilliance in the industry and studies after completing graduation.
ANUSANDHAN : workshop on equity derivatives
With an objective of Skill development of the learners under STEPS of IQAC, department of Investment Management organised an workshop on equity derivatives titled ANUSANDHAN on 7th Jan 2025. Mr Hitendra Soni, eminent equity derivative trader, provided an overview of equity derivatives, introduced learners to a live trading screen, and discussed trading strategies with the learners. 70 learners of the department benefitted from the interaction which concluded with a Q & A session.
SAMPARK (Session II): Alumni connect
With an objective to improve the connect with the Alumni and improve the interview skills of the current batch of learners, an online interaction tiled SAMPARK (Session II) was conducted on 9th Jan 2025. Utkarsh Dubey, Nandini Majhi, Punyesh ( 2021 passouts), all ex Bank of America joined the session to guide the 33 learners for preparation for the corporate life.
INVESTMENT CLINIC
With an objective to enhance the skills of learners in aspects of investment planning and investment review under an actual real life scenario an event titled INVESTMENT CLINIC was organised on 13th Jan, 2025 from 10 a.m onwards at the college premises.. In the event, Mr Rohit Joshi, founder Joshi Capital, a SEBI registered investment advisor was invited to assess the needs and provide advice to learners and teachers on investment and review of existing investments. 14 teachers were benefitted by this exercise.
Live screening of Budget 2025
With an objective to provide the learners an opportunity of learning experientially, the live screening of Budget 2025 was organised on 1st February 2025, at the Presentation room, of the college. The learners were able to able to hear first hand the budget speech by Union Finance minister, Srimati Nirmala Sitharaman and note the fiscal policy of the government directly from the finance minister.
Investors’ Roadmap: Annual fest
The annual event of the department,aimed at the holistic development of learners, titled Investors’ Roadmap was held on 7th Feb 2025. The event in its 9th year through competitions aimed at bringing the best out of learners in outdoor sports, indoor games, finance oriented quizzes, debates and entrepreneurial pitches. The vibrancy of youth were also displayed in the cultural activities. Total participants were 178.
Contrarian : Industry Institute Contact
With an objective to improve the industry academia interaction, the event titled Contrarian was organised on 8th Feb 2025 at the Seminar Hall of the college. The event was held in the format of a panel discussion. The first panel moderated by Mr Prince Chaudhary included Mr Pritesh Arte, Assistant professor , St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, having a vast experience in mutual funds industry and Mr Pranav Mer, Vice President, Equity Research Group- Commodity Research, J M Financial. The second panel included Mr Prahlad Tripathi, CEO , ETON Advisors Pvt Ltd , having an industry experience of 15 years in financial markets and Mr Yogesh Ranga, Deputy Manager, Anand Rathi, which was moderated by Mr Siddharth Nair. The intercollegiate event was graced by faculties Dr Sheetal Modi, BIM department, Hinduja College, and Dr. Rashmi Gurnani, Finance department, VIVA college along with the faculties of our college. 65 learners from prominent colleges Hinduja College, KC college, Royal College and VIVA College and Wilfred College. 192 learners participated in the event
FUTUREVEST
With an objective to aid students in career counselling and skill development an interactive session titled FUTUREVEST was organised on in association with M/s Immarticus Learning Pvt Ltd. on 11th March 2025 to make learners aware of the different career opportunities available for BIM learners. CA Soudagar L Adgar, CFA , CMA, CS guided learners about CFA preparation and skillsets needed to be developed.
Sparsh : Social Work
With an objective to develop the habit of giving back to the society, increase the social and voluntary work, the department under the program titled Sparsh, arranged a visit to old age home. 15 learners visited Vimaltidevi Old Age Home, Gorai, Borivali, on 12th March 2025 and interacted with the senior citizens, spent quality time with them and gained rich experience.
