Department of Commerce (Investment Management) - Activities & Events in 2021-22

The department started the academic year 2021-22 by organizing  YOGUTSAV on 20th & 21st June, 2021 for generating energy through Yoga. An interactive  webinar was conducted with resource person Miss Ayushi  Mahalwala,(M.A in Yoga and instructor), attended by 95 enthusiasts. It was followed by posting picture of themself while practicing yoga poses on their Instagram story and tag us @bimtcsc with #bimyogutsav and a quiz contest was held to spread awareness.

BIM department addressing the cross cutting issue of depression and anxiety organized a webinar on the topic “Break the Stigma” on 7th Jul 2021, for dealing with depression and anxiety. It was graced by Mrs. Mamta Pandya, faculty at Art of living. Learners were encouraged to shed inhibitions about mental health and nurture a positive attitude towards life. It was attended by 89 learners.

Youth being the driver of nation building, Youth Day was celebrated by organization of YOUTH SUMMIT on 12th August 2021. Learner’s groups from different departments ideated on topics like : requirement of censorship, work experience for freshers,  central bank digital currency. The competition was judged by Miss. Rama Ray who also encouraged the students to come up with innovative ideas for the respective topics and initiated a healthy discussion. 

The Department of BIM & BBI collaboratively conducted a webinar titled Gandhi and Communalism for enhancing value based education . It was held on 7th September, 2021. The resource person for the session was Mr. Ram Puniyani, former professor at IIT Bombay, Chairman at Centre for the study of society and secularism Mumbai. The event was well attended by 73 students.

With a view to improve money management skills of learners, the Department of B.Com (Investment Management) organized a two-day event, The Financial Diet on 1st and 2nd Nov 2021, focusing on Personal Finance and Money Management. The first day was a webinar where the speaker, Mr. Sujoy Das, director, OAWA enlightened the students on the importance of personal finance and wealth management. The second day of the event was a finance-based activity to test the money management skills of the students. It was a successful activity that created awareness of personal finance amongst students. The event was streamed on Youtube live. 151 participants enriched themselves through the event.

The department’s distinctive event INVESTOR’s FIESTA’22 was organized as a 4 days cultural event, from 22nd to 25th Jan 2022. 

In the first activity titled Pehchan kaun, the participants had to guess the name of the company from the hints shown on the screen. It was a very exciting event. The second event of Investor’s Fiesta was Meme Bazaar. Creativity was blended with financial current affairs. The third event of Investor’s Fiesta was An Young Investor’s Diary,  a blog writing competition on topics  Management of personal finance/  Psychology in investing / Journey towards investing. The fourth event Investor’s Fiesta was Jingle it your way. All the participants had to prepare a jingle on the company given to them. Participants could use musical instruments to make the jingle more presentable.  The last event of Investor's Fiesta was The Genius Niveshak. It was a quiz event. The participants had to answer the questions presented on the screen within the given time limit. 

The Investment Management Department organized live streaming of budget presentation through zoom platform and youtube link. Many students, faculty came together to watch the budget live on 1st February, 2022.

Addressing another cross cutting issue of increasing self-productivity, National Productivity Day was observed by organizing an webinar on "Self Productivity” on 12th February 2022. The resource person, Shri Shantivardhan Das, Bhagavat Gita preacher  from ISKON enlightened the participants on the skills of time management & self-discipline. It was well attended by 68 participants.

Investment Management department organized the annual event  CONTRARIAN on 19th Feb, 2022, focusing on stock market. An interactive webinar was organised, with resource person , CA Puneet Jajoo discussing about Company Analysis and showed the participants how to assess the company’s performance and pick the right stocks. It was attended by 189 participants and streamed live on Youtube.

Department of B.com (Investment Management) organized an Interactive session with an Entrepreneur, on 19th March , 2022 with Mr. Pratham Singh, the founder of WealthoCare Financial Services, Licensed Mutual Fund Distributor, PMS distributor, Insurance Advisor & NISM Certified Research Analyst. Mr. Pratham shared the various aspect of financial planning, wealth management, and risk management. 

With an intention to develop the ideas of sustainability and fervour of giving back to the society, the department of Investment Management organized the CSR activity in collaboration with NGO Yuva Prerna Prathistan on 31st March, 2022. Slum children, located in NalaSopara, who are grossly under privileged, were presented with books, writing material and snacks to encourage them to follow studies. The activity generated immense enthusiasm both among the children and the 22 students. 

Recognising the importance of Alumni in guiding the present students, Department of B.com (Investment Management) organized an Alumni Guidance Session on 18th March, 2022. We invited Mr. Vaibhav Somani as the guest alumni, who has completed his CFP certification in the year 2020-21. He enlightened the department students on the course, he also guided them on how they can pursue CFP certification.
