Department of Commerce (MCom Ecommerce) - Activities & Events in 2022-23

GUEST LECTURE: A guest lecture was organized on FUTURE SKILL REQUIREMENT IN E-COMMERCE on 8th October, 2022. One of the alumni of MCom(ecommerce) Mr Prathamesh Tulaskar was invited to speak on various career avenues available in ecommerce industry. He is currently working as a category manager in Nyka and has been responsible for many successful product launch.

A skill course on BASICS OF DIGITAL MARKETING was CONDUCTED by MCOM(ECOM) Part 2 students. This course is a peer learning course where senior students teach junior students about BASICS OF DIGITAL MARKETING. BMS students registered for the course and The course commenced on 20th August, 2022 and was conducted online. 92 students registered for the course and 47 students completed the course. Total duration of the course with theory and practical was 45 hours. An exam was conducted in the end of the course and students who scored more than 50% in the exam, attended 60% of the lectures, and completed 60% of the assignments were given credits for successfully completing the course.

Guest lecture was conducted on POSITIONING YOURSELF IN THE JOB MARKET in association with BCOM(ENTREPRENEURSHIP). One of our alumni Ms Peenal Mehta was invited to address the students. She is currently working in the HR department of Deloitte. She enlightened students on innovative use of social media for promoting themselves in the job market. She also gave inputs on how students can make their CV attractive and can ensure maximum reach. The lecture was attended by 54 students.

A guest lecture on REVOCALISING INDIAN ETHOS IN MODERN MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOR GEN Z was organized in association with B.Com (entrepreneurship ) and Department of Management studies on 13th December, 2022. Mr Aditya Shastri from IIDE was invited to address the students. He regaled the audience with his modern take on spirituality and values. Students enjoyed the lecture thoroughly and had a funfilled interactive session.

A Social visit was made by MCOMECOM students on 20th Jan, 2023. 19 students from MCOMECOM visited an old age home in Borivali at MATAJI HEALTHCARE CENTRE. The students bought items of use for senior citizens and spent some quality time over there. The Centre was very happy with this gesture and many students continued visiting them centre.

A workshop on Microsoft Power BI was conducted for 6 hours from 6th March to 9th March, 2023 for MCom( Ecom) learner. 21 students from, MComecom sem 4 and 9 students from MCom(Ecom) sem 2 joined the course. Mr Amit Tiwari ( Assistant Prof, Thakur Engineering college ) was invited as a resource person to conduct the course. Students found the course beneficial for them.

A Guidance lecture on NET, SET was organized in association with the PG Department of Advance Accountancy on 25th March, 2023. The lecture was addressed by Dr Manoj K Mishra, Faculty of accounts, who guided students about how to prepare for NET, SET exam, question paper pattern and the career opportunities available after the same. The lecture was attended by 75 students.
