Department of Computer Science is the vibrant centre of imparting quality education with respect to data management and programming involving a wide variety of activities, workshops and other curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Department presently boosts of 458 students successfully completing Spoken Tutorial Online Courses (A Project of IIT-Bombay and MHRD, Govt. of India).

Impetus is the handbook for students focused on strengthening core ethics, values of the educational system in the Institute. It’s an endeavour to build upon the value-based foundation for the students which makes them stand apart from the crowd. 

  • A seminar on“Cyber Security for National Integration”by Mr. Jerry Thomas, Ethical Hacker, Mumbai Police was organised on 30th July, 2019.


  • Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Team Leader, SDAC Infotechwas the speaker for seminar on “Awareness on upcoming Technologies” dated 9thAugust, 2019.


  • “Certificate Course in Linux Foundation”was conducted in association with IQAC for SYBSc –CS learners from 16th July, 2019 to 21st August, 2019. The second session for the same course was conducted for TYBSc-CS learners from 22nd August, 2019 to 16th September, 2019. The Course covered File/Directory management, user management, Filters, redirection, pipes and shell programming.


  • Mr. Abhijit Gole, HOD, Dept of Computer Science, Ruia College has deliveredLecture on “Understanding Neural Classifiers and Bayes Networks in Today’s World Business Problems” for CS learners on, 29th August, 2019.


  • Career Guidance Session byDr. (Mrs.) SheetalRathi, Associate Prof. and HoD, Department of ComputerEngineering,Thakur College of Engineering And Technology, Mumbai on “Opportunities in Data Science” was organised on 26th August, 2019 for TYBSc-CS learners. 


  • “Database Administration (DBA) Workshop” was arranged for M.Sc.-CS Part I 30 and 31st August, 2019. The students were trained in Oracle 11g which is a database management system software.

  •  “Awareness on Gender Sensitization and Cyber Security” was the theme for Guest lecture byMr. Jerry Thomas, Ethical Hacker, Mumbai Police on 4th October, 2019. The speaker highlighted upon the importance of Gender sensitivity for Online Surfing and stressed on need for Net-etiquettes in the modern times and legal surveillance.


  • MsShiwani Gupta, Deputy HOD, Department of Computer Engineering, TCET delivered on “Machine Learning” on 18th December, 2019 for CS Learners. The lecture focused on various datasets on GitHub, Kaggle for real time applications and future applications and discussed the current research work in the area. 


A “Certificate Course in Machine Learning”in association with IQACwas organised between 6th January, 2020 and 28th February, 2020.The TYBSc-IT and TYBSc-CS learners were taught Machine Learning Algorithms like Linear Regression, KNN classification, SVM and Unsupervised Machine Learning Algorithms like K-means Clustering, Decision Tree, Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The learners implemented the knowledge of Machine learning in Python and R. 


  • “Certificate Course in Linux Fundamentals” was conducted for FYBSc-CS learners from 3rd to 17th February, 2020. The course aimed at introducing the Linux Environment, understand the Linux Basics with usage of VI Editor and Linux Security.


  • Ms Neha Khandelwal, Coordinator, Art of Living delivered the lecture on“Relevance of Moral and Ethical values in Professional Career”was the theme of Guest Lecture on 12thFebruary, 2020. 95 students were guided on the negative impact of Smoking and substance abuse in general. She accentuated the need for professional and social ethics at personal and professional spaces.


The FYBSc-CS learners have undertaken a Certificate Course on “Database Management System (DBMS)” from 10th to 28th February, 2020. The students were trained in RDBMS, SQL, MySQL, Normalization and Sorting Results.

II) Students Achievements for Inter Collegiate Events Only-

  1. Jaikrishna Jha (FYBSc-CS) secured first place in the event “Bug Bounty” of TechFest, IIT Bombay 2019-2020.

  2. Priyansh Lakhara(TYBSc-CS) secured second place in the event “Film Quiz” of Nirvaan 2020, Nirmala Memorial Foundation College, Kandivali East, Mumbai.

  3. Ms. Easha Fernandes(TYBSc-CS)secured second place in the event “Code Gladiators” of Nirvaan 2020, Nirmala Memorial Foundation College, Kandivali East, Mumbai. 150 students have successfully completed various courses through online portals of Udemy and Coursera.
