Session onGender Equity, 22nd June 2021
The event was organized for encouraging women empowerment and also job roles irrespective of gender. This event aimed at focusing issues relating to women in India and gender biasness.
The Department of Computer Science organized guest lecture for the students on 22nd June 2021 on “Gender Equity” and Ms. Anuradha Jain (Associate at Right2rise & POSH Specialist) was invited as the guest speaker for this session.
Ms. Anuradha explained that along with Male and Female there’s also the third gender that is Transgender whom we should not be neglected by the society and they too must be given a similar equality as men & women both.
After that she gave a brief knowledge about women who graduated in India which was higher than Men but still, they are not given equal opportunity to work or they are made to sit at home. Not only this, the ratio of graduates between males & females was barely having any differences but still men are given more chances to pursue their dreams compared to women.
After that, Right2rise Team member Ms. RainaKhatri gave an introduction about the difference between Gender Equality & Gender Equity. She very gracefully made students understand that though both the terms have different meanings but the root was the same that is empowering both equally irrespective of their gender.
After that, Right2rise team member Mr. Rahul Raj gave us his experience about his working in industry where he disclosed about her boss who was a Female and from there he started respecting and having deep understanding towards females. He also enlightens us about not being ashamed to respect and obey a female’s decision whoever she may be. He also made us realise that this world needs to be balanced when we talk about gender equality that is balanced in every sector having males & females both.
