‘Plastic Recycling Activity’ was organized on 22nd June, 2019 in collaboration with Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Smriti Manch, using a unique reverse vending machine which crushes the plastic bottles and converts them into plastic fibre to make T-Shirts, shopping bags, tents etc. Shri. Vinod Garg, National Vice President, PDSM interacted with the leaners and spoke about this vending machine as a solution to the plastic menace.
On 25th July, 2019, a Guest Lecture on ‘Rainwater Harvesting’ was delivered by Mr. Shubhajit Mukherjee from Mission Green Mumbai. It was attended by 155 learners. Mr. Mukherjee spoke in detail about the Jalshakti Abhiyan of GOI, Tree Plantation for Water Conservation and the various techniques that can be adopted for Rainwater Harvesting in the Urban Areas.
Poster Making and Article Writing Competition was held on 1st August, 2019 on the theme ‘Transportation Challenges faced by Mumbaikars’ and ‘Save Water, Save Life’ respectively.
On 13th August, 2019, a Career Guidance Guest Lecture on ‘Geographic Information System’ was conducted by Mr. Pranav Raut, Director, Mahi Geoinformatics Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. He explained how the accelerated growth and development prospects in India have encouraged several industries and businesses to use GIS and Remote Sensing which can be used in the field of agriculture, irrigation, transportation etc.
One day workshop on ‘Ecofriendly Ganesha Idol Making’ was organized on 27th August, 2019. Ms. Chitra Mhaske, Ms. Suvarna Bange & Mr. Shankar Zavir from ‘Paryavaran Dakshata Manch’, Thane (West) were invited to train the learners.The learners used their creative skills in designing beautiful Ganpati idols using ecofriendly Shadu clay.
An Intercollegiate Competition, ‘Paryavaran Mitravat’ was organized on 27th September, 2019, based on the theme ‘Jungle Safari’. Variety of competitions like Quiz, Short Film Making, Pot Painting, Just a Minute & CL-ACL war were held. Around 200 participants from various colleges has participated .
Street Play was presented by learners in the college campus on 29th and 30th September, 2019 conveying the message on the dreadful consequences of plastic usage. The slogan ‘We say No To Plastic’ was hard hitting to the audience who then took an oath to not accept any single use or disposable plastic henceforth.
