Department of Film, Television & New Media Production - Activities

The Department is the breeding ground for budding filmmakers, technicians and to prepare the students for various aspects production of Film, Television and other medium. This 3-year undergraduate program meets the technical requirements of the field and provides the given practical exposure required for the learners.

1. Webinars, Guest Lecture, Seminars and Workshops

• Guest lecture on “Screenplay writing” with Mr. Virendra Shahaney (Vice -President & Head of Fiction at Sony Entertainment Industry). He is a well-known Screenwriter and Author. He has written, creatively directed, produced awesome television shows over two decades. Some of his writing work includes CID, Adaalat, Aahat, Kahaan Huum Kahaan Tum, Uttaran, Parrvarish.

• Guest Webinar on “Digital Media and Pursuing Master” by Ms. Mokshada Hakani (Master's in Digital Media Management & Marketing Automation and Web Publishing Internal Co-op at Akamai Technologies) is an alumnus and has worked in many films as an assistant director and has also assisted with the creative campaigns in accordance with the brand strategy, social media strategy, and overall marketing plan. 

• Lecture on “Practical usage of Lights and Camera modes” by Forum Parekh and Vinay Surana. Forum Parekh is Professional in film lighting and cinematography and Vinay Surana is expert in camera work and camera dynamics. They are an alumnus and has worked in many films and other projects. They were very knowledgeable and experienced and shared a lot of information with us. A total of 50 attendees were present for the webinar.

• Workshop on “Basics of making and creating visual masterpiece” by Iranian film industry filmmaker Mr. Husain Afshar along with Mr. Nasir and Mr. Mohseen. With his years of experience in the movie industry and unparalleled skills, he gave us the gift of valuable knowledge that will definitely prove to be helpful. 

• Workshop on “AD & FILMMAKING” was an interactive session by Mr. Alok Rai, intriguing writer and director who owns a production firm, Cinnamon Media and Artworks.

• Debate on “Career opportunity in Media and Filmmaking” by Sansad TV Team, an interesting discussion went on for about an hour and dipped into various topics with the students answering questions according to their perspectives and experiences.

2. Student Achievement

1. Chaitali Jawkar - received Best Female Actress Award for the Film - Salute by Nashik International.

2. Mazel Vyas - was a part of HUM DO HAMAARE DO film- Released on Multiplex, Hotstar, Maddock. She was also featured for Himalaya face wash advertisement for TV Ad.  Mazel Vyas worked as a lead in Highway Nights which is one of the Nomination for Oscar 2023.

3. Anushka Sen - .AM I NEXT - 1st Hindi Movie as a LEAD. Directed by RAHAT KAZMI. Released in IIFF, Boston in 2021 and official selection in 7 other Global Film Festivals.  In LIHAAF – As a Protagonist “writer Ismat Chugtai”, Directed by RAHAT KAZMI. Theatrical released in BRAZIL. Followed by OTT VOOT Select. COUNTRY OF BLIND - as Nandini the hunter, an Indo-Hollywood production. English/Hindi Feature Film Directed by RAHAT KAZMI. To be released in Cannes 2022. NICKELODEON Kids Choice Award for Favorite Personality of Instagram, 2021

4. Shashank Pandey - Second Prize in Solo Singing in VES College of Arts Science & Commerce.

5. Supreeta Dhaktode, Yogesh Rajpurohit, Satakshi Saha, Rekha Chaudhary - worked under the Production, Writing, Research Department and the Finance Department in Firelight Australia Pty.Ltd.

6. Abhinav Pandey - A student of won the Best Film Editor in Cinema4screen Film Festival.

7. Vishesh Tiwari - He was a part of the film Velle which was under the banner of AJAY DEVGN FILMS. He was also featured in Kapil Sharma Show for the promotion of the Film. He is shooting for Netflix series as an Actor. Recently Visesh did an Advertisement for Cadbury. 

8. Deepak Tamta & Rohit Rajput - Started their own production house "SAANP SEEDI PICTURES". One of the films was also featured in Hungama TV.

9. Nilay Raje - owns the production house "SOUL FILMS ENTERTAINMENT". One of the films was also featured in MX Player.

10. Dinesh Govind Joshi - is Producer and is also the owner to Dinesh Joshi Productions.

11. Omkar Mane - is working as Post-Production Supervisor in Pocket Films.

12. KrutikThakur - Photograph clicked by him published and featured in Sukkiri show of Nippon Television, Japan – January - 2021, THE TIMES UK newspaper – November - 2020, Focus Junior magazine, Italy – August -2020, Bored panda, USA website- March - 2021, THE SUN UK- March - 2021, 'Password' Marathi magazine- April - 2021, 1st place in WallMag Sunset Photography. - December 2021 and many more.

13. The learners of BAFTNMP organized and curated the 6th Khajuraho International Film Festival. Multiple students from all the years have worked in KIFF 2021 and learned about cameras, technicals, and great opportunity for creating networks. Learners worked in more than 20 episodes of talk show with Sushmita Mukherjee and multiple guests who were the part of talk show.
