Guest Lectures

• A Guest Lecture on topic of “Software Testing carrier prospect and Development” conducted by Mr. Viren Chakraborty –Assistant Manager Citius Technology  on 1st  July 2017.
• A Special Session was conducted on ” Self Defense Techniques” on  15th July 2017 by  Mr. Harsh.
• A Guest Lecture on topic of “Technology and Latest Trends in IT Industry” was conducted by Mr. Pradeep Sharma (Executive Director)- J.P Morgan on  29th July 2017.
• A Seminar on topic of “Software Testing  in Web Applications” was conducted  by Ms. Drashti Shrimal ( Sr. Analyst- Web Application  Pay e-Money Application  on 1st September 2017.
• A Special Session was conducted on ” Virtualization”  14th September 2017 by  Ms. Sujata Rizal- S. M Shetty College-Powai

Workshops

Drupal Campus Ambassador Program:

Information Technology department has collaborated with QED 42 -Pune Syngenta technology –Pune. Students will be trained for Open Source and Drupal Site Building. First Session was conducted on 9th September 2017. 55 Students participated in this one day workshop. Second Series was conducted on 17th February 2018. 36 Students of UG and PG level Participated in this workshop.

Collaboration with University of Canberra:

Thakur College of science and Commerce Started a Course in BS (CIS) in collaboration with University of Canberra from Academic Year 2017-18. This program offers students to study initial two years with Thakur College, India and last two and half years with University of Canberra and complete their Graduation and Post Graduation.

Industrial Cum Excursion Tour:

An Industrial cum excursion Tour to Amritsar, Shimla,Manali and Chandigarh was organized for Second Year, Third year BSc-IT  and MSc-IT  Students for 11 days. Total 132 students participated in this tour.

Association with Swagat Ashram, Bal Vikas- Ek Ehsaas  Ek Vishwas Foundation:

In an initiative to connect with society as well as value learning exercise a group of students along with faculty visited during December 2016 and contributed medicine, stationary items, cloths, Food Items etc.

Workshops attended by all Staff

• One day workshop for the revised syllabus of “S.Y.B.Sc-IT, Semester-IV”, Organized by Department of Information Technology, Thakur College of Science & Commerce on December 19th ,2017 in association with UDIT-University of Mumbai.
• One day workshop on “Revision of Syllabus”, Organized by IQAC department of Thakur College of Science & Commerce on February 3rd, 2018 in collaboration of University of Mumbai.
• Attended National conference on “Food nutrition & Healthcare” BIOINNOVA, on 10th, Feb 2017.

Achievements

• First Research Scholar Mr. Terence Johnson under Guidance of  Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh has completed his PhD Degree.
• Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh completed UGC sponsored Refresher Course from University of Gauhati, during March 2018 and obtained Grade ‘A’.
• Dr. Santosh Singh, Mr .Anand Upadhyay,  Mr. Amit Pandey, “PCA & ANN based improvised classification of LISS-III satellite image”, 12th INDIACom; 2018 5th On International Conference Computing for Sustainable Global Development(Under Publication in IEEEXplore impact factor 9.107).
• Jyotsna Anthal Attended one day seminar on “A Mantra to a life of success and happiness” by Mr. Veenugopal Acharya on December 09th,  2017.
• Jyotsna Anthal Presented research paper ”Detection of Vitiligo Skin Disease using LVQ Neural Network” in International conference on Current Trends in Computer, Electrical, Electronic & Communication, organized by Vidyavardhak College of Engineering, Mysuru, Karnataka, India,  September 2017.
• Mrs.Jyotsna Anthal, Mr.Anand Upadhyay, Mr.Ashish Gupta, ”Detection of Vitiligo Skin Disease using LVQ Neural Network”, International conference on Current Trends in Computer, Electrical, Electronic & Communication(ICCTCEEC-2017), organized by Vidyavardhak College of Engineering, Mysuru, Karnataka, India, during 8-9, September 2017, ISBN:978-1-5386-3242-0.
• Mr. Anand Upadhaya Completed UGC sponsored orientation programme, University of Mumbai, conducted from May 25, 2017 to June 21, 2017 and obtained Grade ‘A’.

• Purav Parikh of third year B.Sc IT have secured first position in “Pricing Event(Sell it off)” in Elaan(Festival of Nirmala college).
• Purav Parikh of third year B.Sc IT have recieved Best CL(Contingent Leader) award in Utkarsh(Festival of Sk Somaiya college).
• Won Best college podium under the leadership of Purav Parikh of Third Year B.Sc IT in Utkarsh(Festival of Sk Somaiya college).
