Department of Information Technology - Activities & Events conducted in year 2022-23


International Yoga Day was celebrated on 25th June by the Department of IT & DS to raise the awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate physical & spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world. Mr. Satish Mishra, a dietician, Yoga Trainer and also a specialist in Yoga Therapy from Premanand Institute of Yoga. Total 300 learners attended the workshop in the college auditorium in two batches.


 


An awareness session on ‘Menstrual Hygiene & Menstrual Cup’ was organized by the Department of IT & DS in collaboration with Women Development Cell of TCSC on 22nd July’23 with 500 participants. The Guest Speaker was Ms. Deepti Kashalkar, social activist, Traveler, Youtuber and Entrepreneur. The session aimed to orient learners about the usage & importance of menstrual cups, how it works, and its benefits over traditional menstrual products like pads and tampons.




A webinar on “Deep Learning” was organized for Post graduate students of Information technology on 30th July, 2022. Resource person Mr. Pawan Kundar, Software Engineer at Quickwork and is expertise in Deep Learning,. there is high demand for Deep learning programmers in industry. Total 100 students attended the session.


Value addition Guest Lecture, on the topic ‘Integrity & Peace’ was conducted on 8th Sept, 2022 with 400 participants. The Guest Speaker was Devshekhar Vishnu Das, Project Director, of ISKCON Ayodhya. The session aimed at moulding the learners towards a positive and peaceful life and importance of integrity in life.


 



A One Day Workshop on ‘ALTERYX” was organized on 20th August 2022 for IT & Data Science learners. Alteryx is a data visualization tool and it supercharges the data in data visualization. The resource person, Mr. Hasanparvez Siddiquee, Senior Analyst, Infosys BPM(Pune) orientated and trained the students. Learners who were informed about how to use this tool to blend data, why it is important to learn or know about this tool & multiple opportunities in the industry. 


Mr. Ravi Philip, Head –International Marketing (South Asia, Middle East & Eastern Europe) University of the Fraser Valley, delivered a guest lecture on "Study Abroad & Credit Transfer Program” on 22nd August, 2023 at 11:00am. The guest lecture was well attended by 200 learners of IT who were informed about procedures for pursuing higher education overseas.




“Bringing Joy and Company to those who built our world” A visit to the old age home was organized under the initiative to connect with society, a group of learners along with faculty members on 22nd September’ 2022 to spend some time with the old age residents. The purpose of the visit was to provide companionship and bring some joy to the elderly residents who may feel lonely and isolated in their current living situation. Around 60-70 elderly people spent time with learners.


 



A seminar on Investment @Early Age was organized for students of IT & DS on 9th December 2022 at 11:00AM in the Seminar hall by Mr. Vikas Puri, Partner & Head of West Zone at Complete Circle Capital Pvt. Ltd. The main objective of this seminar was to make students aware that starting to invest at a young age can help establish good financial habits and discipline, which can lead to better financial outcomes in the future. Mr. Puri successfully made the students understand the power of compounding returns. Total 400 Students attended the seminar. 



The Fit India Movement an initiative launched by Govt. of India to promote fitness and healthy living among Indian citizens. Under Fit India School week, we organized a Yoga Session on 21st December 2022 in quadrangle and Cricket tournament on 5th – 6th January, 2023, at Thakur Stadium, aims to make fitness a part of the college curriculum and encourage students to be more physically active. Ms. Mayura Pednekar, a yoga instructor, trained the students and different types of aasanas.  The initiative aims to create awareness about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle & make fitness a part of their daily routine. Total 400 students participated in both events.




A workshop on “Gender Sensitization” was organized in association with IQAC and in collaboration with the Department of Life Long, University of Jammu. The Resource Person Prof. Kavita Suri, Former Director- DLL University of Jammu. The workshop was designed to increase awareness and understanding of gender inequality and its impact on individuals & society. This workshop aims to challenge and change the attitude & behaviors that perpetuate gender inequality and discrimination. Session was conducted on Zoom (online) and total 450 students attended the workshop.


  



The United Nations (UN) declared 2023 the International Year of Millets (IYM2023) & the Government of India launched a people’s movement, followed by UGC. Under that initiative, the Department of IT & DS organized a Training Program on 30th January,2023 in Seminar hall for all the students of Science stream to create awareness among students about the benefits of Millets. The Resource Person Mr. Satish Mishra, Dietician & Yoga trainer from Premanand Institute of Yoga, emphasized on nutritional facts about Millets, how Millets helps to maintain a good health and how students and society at large can contribute to the development of a vibrant millet-based economy in the country, with benefits for both farmers and consumers. Total 400 students attended the training program.

Under the CARE (Connecting All to Respect and Recreate the Environment) initiative, we conducted a two-day campaign of “CARRY YOUR OWN BOTTLE” in association with IQAC on 31st January and 1st February, 2023 in the TCSC campus to raise the awareness about the harmful effects of plastic. The campaign aimed to inspire people to reduce their plastic usage and promote sustainable alternatives. Around 8000 students were covered and benefitted from the class to class campaign.   




Mr. Ravi Philip, Head –International Marketing (South Asia, Middle East & Eastern Europe) University of the Fraser Valley, delivered a guest lecture on ‘International Studies & Career Opportunities Overseas’ on 1st February, 2023 at 11:00am. The guest lecture was well attended by 200 learners of IT who were informed about multiple opportunities and procedures for pursuing higher education overseas. 


An Industrial cum Excursion Tour to Chandigarh-Manali was organized for IT & DS learners for a duration of 8 days from 1st February to 9th February, 2023. A total of 80 learners participated in this tour.


A one-day workshop on “Advanced Python” was organized under SKILL & TALENT ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (STEP) for the learners on 23rd February, 2023. Workshop was designed for those learners who were familiar with the basics of Python and advanced python libraries like NumPy, Pandas and Matplotlib were covered in the workshop. The Resource Person Mr. Madhav Mishra, Data Scientist @TELSTRA 



A one day Industrial visit to Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd- Farm /Tractor division was organized on 8th March, 2023 for first year learners of IT to show the automated processes & working of Robots to them. Learners visited the farm division and seen the whole automation processes. Total 25 students participated in this drive.




A session on ‘Career Counseling’ was conducted for 300+ Graduate and Post Graduate students by Mr. Rajeev Saigal, Regional Partner Director, TCSC on 25th March, 2023. The session helped the learners to understand the prospective career options, how to crack and prepare for the interview and latest requirements of the industry

Qureshi Junaid (TYDS) was awarded EVENT MANAGER OF THE YEAR 2023 by NIEM the Institute of Event Management.


P. Omkar Ravindran(SYIT) represented the college in the Intercollegiate Youth Festival held at Children Welfare Center Law College organized by the Department Of Student Development, University of Mumbai on 7th August 2022.

Aakash Ramashankar Yadav (SYIT) was a member of Mumbai Suburban Zonal team and participated and won the Inter Zonal Volleyball tournament organized by University of Mumbai from 11th November’ 2022 to 12th November, 2022 held at B.K.Birla College (Autonomous), Kalyan


Aman Sandeep Yadav (FYIT) participated in the Inter Collegiate BOXING tournament 2022-2023 being organized by Viva College from 14th November to 17th November, 2022 and secured FIRST position in 51-54 KG weight category  & declared as BEST BOXER. 


Aman Sandeep Yadav (FYIT) represented the Mumbai Suburban zone in the Inter Zonal Boxing (Men) tournament 2022-2023 being organized by University of Mumbai (Board of Sports & Physical Education) from 18th November to 19th November, 2022 held at Thakur College of Science and Commerce, Kandivali East and Secured FIRST PLACE & declared as BEST BOXER in the event (51-54 KG).


Aman Sandeep Yadav (FYIT) participated in 91st Elite Men’s Maharashtra State Boxing Championship 2022, organized by Maharashtra Boxing Association  held at Boxing Hall, Vasant Desai Stadium, Akola from 24th November to 29th November, 2022 in the weight category of 51-54 KG and won the BRONZE


Aakash Ramashankar Yadav (SYIT) participated in the Maharashtra state inter district Volleyball Championship held at Warora from 15th December, 2022 to 18th December 2022.


P .Omkar Ravindran (SYIT) participated in Classic Kali at intercollegiate festival “Kshitij” on 6th January, 2023 at SVKM’s Mithibai College and won 1st Place.
