Shreya Joshi, an alumni of
Mathematics department, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a
lecture on “Opportunity in Mathematics” on 7th July, 2018. In 2017-18
Shreya Joshi completed her MSc in Industrial Mathematics from ICT,
Mumbai. All the students from T.Y.B.Sc. Mathematics and S.Y.B.Sc.
(Physics –Maths) (47 students) attended this guest lecture and got a
brief idea about the opportunities in the field of Mathematics.
On
21st July 2018. Amit Vishwakarma is a trained yoga instructor and
presently doing his MSc in Mathematics from IIT, Jodhpur. All 17
learners of T.Y.B.Sc. Mathematics attended this one day workshop.
A
personality enhancement lecture was delivered on 4th and 18th August
2018 by Dr. Parul Singhal. All the students from T. Y. BSc. Mathematics
and F.Y. BSc. (PCS) (46 students) attended this lecturer and they were
benefited greatly.
To
enhance the overall academics and capability to face the various
competitive exams in their future an Aptitude test was taken. It was
conducted on 9th August 2018. 261 students from Commerce, Science and
Specialized Courses appeared the Aptitude test. Multiple choice
questions were asked from various field like Mathematics, General
knowledge, General Science, Current affairs etc.
Dr
Arunlal Mehta was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a lecture on
the topic Ramanujan Series on 6th September, 2018. All 17 students of
T.Y.B.Sc. attended this guest lecture and got a brief knowledge about
the series derived by great Indian mathematician Ramanujan.
Dr
Dilip M. Patil , Associate Prof. JMP college of Commerce ,was invited
as a guest speaker to deliver a lecture on the topic “Path to careers in
Mathematics & Statistics” on 25th September, 2018. All the
students from T.Y.B.Sc. , S.Y.B.Sc. and F.Y.B.Sc. (140 students)
attended this guest lecture and got a brief idea about the career
opportunity in the field of Mathematics and Statistics.
On
24th September2018, department organized a Power Point presentation
competition (Mathematica) on “Application of Mathematics and Statistics
in Various fields” at presentation room. To be confident and get public
exposure, this competition helped the students to develop the
communication skill and to overcome the stage fear. 42 students
presented the PPT on various topics.
On
27th September 2018 Treasure Hunt competition was organized for degree
science and commerce students. Total 140 students (35 teams) from Pure
Science, IT and Computer Science participated. They had to solve a
sequence of problems one by one with the help of clues given to them.
On
24th January 2018 a poster making competition was held on the Topics
“Indian Mathematician & Mathematics in Nature”. There were 20
participants t and they made beautiful and informative posters on the
topic given to them.
On
24th January 2019 Sudoku and Crossword competitions were held. Total
105 students from Pure science and Computer Science participated in the
event.
An
inter collegiate Quiz Competition was conducted on 21st February 2019
on different topics of Mathematics, Logical reasoning, General
Knowledge, Current Affairs etc. 47 teams from different stream such as
Science, Commerce, all Specialized courses from different colleges
students participated in the competition and made the event grand
successful.
An
inter collegiate Aptitude Test was conducted on 21st February 2019 on
different topics of Mathematics, Logical reasoning, General Knowledge,
Current Affairs etc. 104 students from different stream such as Science,
Commerce, all Specialized courses of different colleges participated.
A
guest lecture on the topic ‘Poverty in India – An overview’ was
organized on 8th March 2019. Ms Ravishri Mishra , Associate Prof. Royal
college of Science , Commerce and Arts was the guest speaker to deliver
the lecture. 109 learners from F.Y. B.Sc. attended the lecture.
R is a programming language and software for statistical analysis, graphics representation and reporting. R was created by Ross Ihaka and Robert Gentleman at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and is currently developed by the R Development Core Team. We conducted two day workshop on R software on 27th and 28th July 2018. 30 faculties from different colleges participated in this workshop. Asst. Prof. Shobhana S Nadar, Khalsa College, Mumbai was the resource person for this workshop. Prof. Shobhana gave us practical understanding on almost all concepts of the language from where one can take him/her self to higher levels of expertise.
