A guest Lecture was conducted on “Approximation of Continuous function” by Dr. G. Hemasundar (Ph.D-TIFR), Associate Professor, SIWS College on 29Th June 2019. Students of S.Y.B.Sc and T.Y.B.Sc (Maths and Stats)) attended the session. Dr Hemasundar discussed about the application of approximation of continuous function and gave the proof of the theorem in a very easy format. Alumni Mr. Amit Vishwakarma (Presently studying in IIT -Jodhpur) conducted a “Guidance lecture” on Preparation of IIT JAM and various other entrance examinations on 8th July 2019. He spoke about the various entrance exams which students should prepare for further studies in the field of Mathematics and Statistics. He also made students aware about the time and paper pattern and syllabus of various entrance exams
Guest Lectures
. On 27th July 2019 a guest lecture on “Leadership and Creativity” was delivered by Ms. Mamata Pandey, Entrepreneur. Students of S.Y. B.Sc. and T.Y. B.Sc. (Maths and Stats) were present for the lecture. Ms. Pandey focussed on the topic “Creative leadership is ability for realising innovative solution”. It is one of the most important and essential part for employment in any area
The Competitions were held on 30th July 2019 to increase the calculative abilities of the students and to bring forward the mental abilities of the learners within the time limit. Total 56 students from Basic science and Computer Science participated in the event.
On 23rd August 2019, a Guest lecture on “Career Guidance in Statistics” by Dr. Ujjvala Phatak, Associate She spoke about the various avenues after T.Y.B.Sc. (Statistics).
On 30th August 2019, department organised a Guest lecture on “Career Guidance in Mathematics” by Dr Amiya Ranjan Bhowmik, Associate professor, ICT Mumbai. 54 students of F.Y. B.Sc. S.Y. B.Sc. and T.Y. B.Sc. were present. He talked about the application of Mathematics in Real world
To prepare the learners for various Government competitive examinations, the department conducts Aptitude Test in every term.
In first term, the test was conducted on 11th September and 58 students from science and commerce streams participated.
On 24th September 2019 Poster Making and Data Analysis on Poverty in India was conducted. To create awareness about social status of our country. 138 learners actively participated in this event. Students presented poster and did data analysis related to the data of poverty in different states of India
The Quiz competition was held on 23rd December 2019. Total 81 students participated. Different topics of Mathematics, Logical reasoning, General Knowledge and Current affairs related topics were covered in different rounds.
On 5th February 2020, department conducted a Guest lecture on “Gender Sensitivity”. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Vijendra (Retired Professor, NMIMS).
On 24st February 2020, the department conducted Inter-Collegiate Aptitude Test. A total of 96 learners form different colleges participated in this event. Topic for this test were based on numerical aptitude, logical reasoning, English and current affairs
The department conducted Workshop for the faculties of TCSC on use of R-Software for statistical analysis of data. 33 faculties participated in the workshop. Mrs. Anuradha Hait, Dr Gulab Nibrad and Dr Neeta Jain conducted the lectures for 4 days and various analysis tools were discussed and hand on training was given.
A National Level Online Quiz Competition on the theme Current Affairs and General
Knowledge was organised on 25 th April, 2020. All the learners and faculties or any
person who were interested to enhance their knowledge were allowed to appear the
quiz. Link of the quiz was provided and was kept functional till 2 nd May. There was noregistration fee for the event. E certificate was provided to all participants. Total 891
participants appeared the quiz from all over India. Merit certificates were given to them
who scored more than 70%.
A National level Aptitude Test “Knowledge Enhancement Week” was organised by the department from 7th to 13th May, 2020. The aptitude tests were conducted for the topics History and Geography on 7th , Mathematics on 8th , General Knowledge on 9th , General Science on 10th , Logical Reasoning on 11th , Current Affairs on 12th and General English on 13th May .Total 2675 students and faculties from all over India participated the event. All were
given E Score cards.
COMPARATIVE STUDY ON EFFECT OF COVID 19 IN DIFFERENT STATES OF INDIA was organised on 18 th May, 2020. Resource person for this webinar was Prof. Mr. Mandar Bhanushe, Incharge, Faculty of science and Technology, IDOL, University of Mumbai. To make this Webinar more interesting and understandable Mr. Bhanushe presented COVID 19 situation in India graphically. This webinar was live on Zoom and YouTube. Around 617 participants from various parts of India have attended this live webinar.
