The academic year commenced with a vibrant Induction Session at Thakur College of Science and Commerce, where seasoned educators and senior students welcomed the 14th batch of Mass Media students, setting the tone for an enriching journey ahead on June 27th, 2023.
To immerse students in the richness of Indian Cinema, a visit to the National Museum of Indian Cinema was organized on July 2nd, 2023, to inculcate understanding of the industry's heritage and evolution.
Following an engaging screening of documentary "No Water Land," students had the privilege of an interactive session with the Director Saumitra Singh himself, enriching their cinematic insights and fostering dialogue on July 2nd, 2023.
A vibrant Fresher’s party, 'Flamboyance x Nayaab 2023,' held under the captivating theme 'Blackjack Grandiose' on July 25th, 2023 which presented the aces, kings and queens in their most vivid colours, marking the beginning of enduring friendships and memories.
On August 1st, 2023, students embarked on a photography trek to Palasdari Waterfalls near Karjat, blending learning with adventure amidst nature's splendour.
August 15th, 2023, witnessed a symbolic homage to patriotism as students from BAMMC and FTNMP embarked on a heritage skyline walk along Marine Drive till Girgaum Chowpatty.
An immersive cinematography workshop led by esteemed third-year students Mr. Yash Jain and Mr. Glyton on August 23rd, 2023 as a part of peer to peer learning, provided invaluable hands-on experience, nurturing budding talents in the realms of film production.
Entertainment Journalist from Peeping Moon, Miss Tanmayi Savadi, shared her expertise in Entertainment Journalism on August 24th, 2023, inspiring students to explore diverse avenues within the media industry.
Mr. Mithil Shetty (Creative Director, Jio Creative Labs) and Mr. Gladwin Menezes (Sub- Editor, Times of India) offered their valuable insights into creative writing, editing and innovation, to students enriching understanding of their craft on August 25th, 2023.
The screening of observational documentary “Moon on the Man" on August 26th, 2023, provided a captivating glimpse into cinematic storytelling, complemented by interactions with Director Prince Shah and Music Composer Prassanna Vishwanathan.
On September 1st, 2023, students were inspired by the wisdom of established Writer and Director, Mr. Deepak Dev, whose insights ignited their passion for storytelling and creative expression.
The department in collaboration with Women Development Cell of College and Kashish Arts Foundation organized an impactful one day film festival on gender sensitization towards LGBTIQA+ Community on 8th September 2023.
The students had a privilege of experiencing a mesmerizing screening of Vijay Aanand’s timeless Hindi classic ‘Tere Ghar ke Saaamne’ hosted at prestigious Y.B. Chavan Center, Nariman Point on 25th September 2023.
The year culminated with an illuminating address by investigative journalist Mr. Sanjay Singh (Writer of Telgi Scam) on December 11th, 2023, shedding light on the intricacies of investigative writing and journalistic integrity.
A total of 65 students of Third Year BAMMC and BAFTNMP embarked on a journey to Nainital- Jim Corbett-Rishikesh-Haridwar from 21st December to 29th December 2023 for Industrial Visit. They visited SPNG Kashi Vishwanath Textile Mill and Naini Paper Mill of Uttarakhand.
On 12th January 2024, the students came wearing multiple hues to express openness and support acceptance, as they walked together hurling slogans in a vibrant Pride Parade for LGBTQIA+.
TCSC became a venue partner for 20th Third Eye Asian Film Festival organized by Asian Film Foundation and patronized by Government of Maharashtra. Around 40 films were screened in TCSC Campus from 12th January to 18th January 2024. More than 50 volunteers and a team of faculties made sure the success of the event.
The Department's Annual International Short Film Festival, 'Cortokino... Unleashing Global Cinema' on its 12th edition, held under the theme 'Maestros Del Cine,' celebrated the global diversity of filmmaking, supported by esteemed partners Iran Culture House and Prabhat Chitra Mandal.
To end this academic year a dazzling Farewell "Nazrana x Falsafa 2024" was held on 7th March 2024, bathed in the theme 'Enchanted Realm' on, signalling the culmination of cherished bonds and reminiscences.

Gauransh Chauhan – Student of TYBAMMC was featured with Ajay Devgan in a TV Commercial for Walkaroo Footwear. He also won multiple pageant titles across different Colleges in Mumbai- Mr. Kshitij 2024, Mr. Umang 2024, Mr. Stylist 2024, Mr. Enigma 2024 and was First Runner up for Mr. Illenium 2024. He has been the official voice of promotional video of Mukesh Patel Auditorium by NMIMS College. He has also been the official voice for promotional videos of educational institutions under the Thakur Trust.
Our student and well known actress Ms. Mazel Vyas from TYBAFTNM appeared in much appreciated OTT Series ‘Dahad’ starring Vijay Varma and Sonakshi Sinha.
Aryan Tiwari – Student of TYBAFTNMP won Band Event in Umang Fest (NM College). Kshitij Fest (Mithibai College) and Illenium Fest (Atlas University). He also worked in 2 songs for “Mrs Chhatterjee vs Norway”- as a Guitarist and “Rafta Rafta” series for Bhuvam Bam - as a Guitarist
Yash Jain - Student of TYBAFTNMP is handling all content creation for world leading NGO for women's.
Harsh Mishra – Student of SYBAMMMC is the President of National Human rights and social justice commission's Mumbai N/W (media cell) division He also won an award from the National Human rights and social justice commission for helping women who were suffering from harassment and domestic violence, helping people who were facing property dispute, and providing free legal advice.

Adnan Shakeel – Student of SYBAMMC is a Voice Artist who has given his voice in the official Hindi version of “The summer I Turned Pretty “on Amazon prime original Series and Dubbed for the character Steven And also voiced for Prince William in The crown Season 6, He has also given his voice for Very popular Anime Code geass and dubbed for main lead Lelouch !
Jenessa Bhathena, Nitya Wanage, Dhwani Kulshreshtha, Tanushree Sharma, Rinisha Shah – Students of SYBAMMC participated in an International workshop on Research Methodology in digital humanities guided by Prof. Joseph DeSouza, York University.
Aditya Singh – Student of SYBAMMC worked in Ep-log media as an Anchor-Producer and made a podcast show named ’Building Bharat-Ek nayi disha ki orrr’. Which would be streamed on Channels like- Gaana, Jio Saavan, Apple-podcast etc.
Tanish Wade – Student of SYFTNMP worked as a senior live producer at temptation island season 1 on Jio Cinema.
Anurag Rai – Student of SYFTNMP worked as an RCO in Temptation Island, shot reels for Big FM India, shot after movies for many Bollywood films and also for singer, Nikhitha Gandhi.
Jay Chauhan – Student of SYFTNMP worked as Assistant Director for Web Series Title "Dahej Ki Naukri" With Prashant Sharma Pictures Production and Director Shubham Shrivastava.
Purvi Mohapatra – Student of SYFTNMP worked in Entertainment ki Raat Housefull as an act’s producer. She also did Temptation Island India season 1 (colours TV) as a story producer. She is currently working for Madness Machayenge (Sony TV) as a senior assistant creative producer.
Sarthak Malavade – Student of SYFTNMP worked as an Audio / Sound Engineer for, The great Indian Kapil show (Netflix) 2024, MTV hustle season 3 2023, Shark tank India 2023. He also worked for the biggest Mahashivratri on the planet with Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev at Adiyogi Shiva Statue in Tamil Nadu.
Naman Bhavsar – Student of SYBAMMC shot and edited behind the scenes for kingfisher, Bikaji, acted in a sketch video as Puneet Superstar, edited reels for a Social Media Influencer Jai Madaan.

THE INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FEST: CORTOKINO’S ASCENSION
The 12th edition of CortoKino, the Annual International Short Film Festival organized by the Media Department of Thakur College of Science and Commerce, commenced with grandeur on January 18th and continued to reach its zenith till the dusk of 19th January. The festival was shrouded in the twinkle of this year's captivating theme "Maestros Del Cine" (Masters of Cinema).
The inaugural ceremony presented the lamp lighting performed by well-known actor Ms. Jaya Bhattacharya and featured the screening of "Kolahal", a masterfully crafted short film directed by Dr. Santosh Pathare. A captivating array of International and Animated short films from around the world, captivated the discerning audience in the flagship CortoKino event. These masterpieces were analysed by the skilled masters of the art- Mr. Amit Chitalia and Mr. Harshvardhan Vemula respectively.
The stand-up comedy event "Imma Joking", judged by Mr. Amar Babar and Ms. Gurleen Kaur, filled the venue with laughter and joy. Further, the other events of the day- "Script-Scribe'' judged by the seasoned Mr. Ramendra Vashishth, "D Rap Raddar 12.0" judged by the famed Rapper Void, "Frame Tailor'', the trailer-making event critiqued by the versatile creator Mr. Sagar Badheka, and the poetry event "An Eve of Sonnets'' guided by the literary wizards Mr. Amit Singh and Mr. Danish Rana, each added its unique flavour to the festivities. The highlight of the day was the TVC event "Ad-land Adventure" judged by Mr. Saad Nawab and a mesmerizing fashion show "Lights, Camera and Couture'' graced by television personalities Mr. Fahmaan Khan and Ms. Roopal Tyagi, which brought the day to a splendid close. Day 1 of CortoKino'24 stood as a testament to the enduring allure of film artistry and the creative spirit that unites enthusiasts and professionals alike.
The second day of CortoKino'24 began with National Movie Screenings judged by Mr. Suraj Rao, featuring films from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Delhi, showcasing diverse expressions of creativity. Following this, a series of engaging events unfolded, starting with the Journalism competition "Media Mavericks" evaluated by Mr. Gladwin Menezes (Sub Editor, TOI) and the Make-Up and Hairstyle event "Vintage Elegance" under the seasoned eye of Ms. Gayatri Dhuri and Ms. Anamica Mishra, that explored the artistic aspects of beauty. The day continued with the CC Short Film Event, where participants showcased compelling stories under the guidance of the talented judge Mr. Ahmed Faisal Inam. The FACE Event, overseen by television actor Abhishek Kapoor, presented documentaries capturing the hustle and bustle of a Mumbaikar's life, while the Storyboarding event "Picture Your Tale" and the Graphic Design competition "Graphic Gurus'' showcased talents under the supervision of industry experts- Mr. Atul Chouthmal and Mr. Dhruv Shah respectively. Ms. Vaishnavi Dukhande lent her expertise to "Crafted Chronicles'', the poster-making event, and Designer Ms. Muskan Mittal judged the costume-making competition "The Whimsical Wardrobe", adding to the creative fervour of the day. The Photography event "Lens Lumiere", evaluated by Mr. Krutik, showcased captivating visual narratives, leading up to the electrifying Band event "Amplifest" evaluated by Ms. Valencia Quinnie.
The culmination of CortoKino'24 was marked by the much-anticipated award ceremony, where outstanding participants were honoured, with Team Sanjay Leela Bhansali(KC College) emerging as the triumphant winner. The event also recognized exemplary works in Animation, National, and International short films, with 'Tokri' by Suresh Eriyat, 'Mirag' by Abhijeet Zunjarrao and 'Paper on the Window' by Iran Culture House securing victories in their respective categories. The presence of renowned actress Hina Khan added to the grandeur of the occasion, leaving an indelible mark on participants and audience alike.
CortoKino’24, following a 12-year legacy, continued with another year of appreciating the ever-evolving mould of cinema and honouring the finesse and influence of prominent directors with its theme for the year- “Maestros Del Cine”.
