In the Academic year 2019-2020, Department of Botany had organized various Curricular and Co-Curricular Activities to enhance the knowledge of learners in field of Plant Sciences. The details of the activities conducted are as follows:
Excursion and visit to exhibition:
On 11th August, 2019 One Day Excursion to Keshav Shrushti, Bhayander (West) was organized by the department for T.Y B.Sc. (Botany), S.Y. B.Sc. (CB) & F.Y. B.Sc. (CBZ) learners. About 110 learners visited the Herbal garden, Biogas plant, Goshala, agriculture field and studied various flora-fauna including economically important plants. Hands on Training on paper making was given to the learners by Keshav Shrushti staff members.

One Day Excursion to Sanjay Gandhi National Park was organized by the department for F.Y B.Sc. (CBZ) learners on 15th September, 2019. Students studied various flora-fauna including economically important plants endemic or rare or exotic plants growing in the area as well as concept of in-situ and ex-situ conservation, importance of Wild life and their conservations in the biological repositories.

Workshop:
On 27th July, 2019 Workshop on "How to refer the reference books" was organised for F.Y.B.Sc. (CBZ), S.Y. B.Sc. (CB), and T.Y B.Sc. (Botany). Learners learnt how to study the references.
On 12th February, 2020 workshop on "Draw the Diagrams" for F.Y.B.Sc. (CBZ), S.Y. B.Sc. (CB), and T.Y B.Sc. (Botany) learners was organized to create awareness of how to draw various tissues like parenchyma, collenchyma & sclerenchyma, their distribution pattern in the plant body. About 37 learners participated in the workshop. Dr Vinit Vaidya and Mr. Amol Mohite were the resource person.

Guest Lecture:
Guest Lecture was organized on "Phytochemistry and Pharmacognosy" on 17th September, 2019. Dr. Sunita Shailajan, Prof & Head, Department f Botany Ruia College, the Resource Person addressed 161 learners from F.Y. B.Sc. (CBZ), S.Y. B.Sc. (CB), and T.Y B.Sc. (Botany) regarding Pharmacognosy and phyto-chemicals obtained from plants and new Career options in the field.

Guest lecture on Taxonomy of Angiosperms was organized on 28th September, 2019. Principal (Dr.) Rajendra Shinde, St Xavier's College was the resource person. He Explained how plant identification is important for our daily life as well as application of taxonomy in new emerging areas.162 learners from F.Y.B.Sc. (CBZ), S.Y. B.Sc. (CB), and T.Y B.Sc. (Botany) attended the lecture.

Botany Colloquium (online)
One Day Botany Colloquium (online) was Organized in Collaboration with IQAC on “Applications of Plants in Industry” on 17 May 2020. The topic of discussion were- Importance and Role of Fungi, Relevance of Plants in Industry & Role of Plants using Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry. Ex Principle Dr. (Mrs.) Usha Mukundan (Director, Hindi Vidya Prachar Samiti, Ghatkopar, Mumbai), Prof. (Dr.) Sunita Shailajan (Former Dean, Research, Consultancy and Innovation, Ruia College, Mumbai), Dr. (Mrs) Shashirekha Sureshkumar (Associate Professor, Department of Botany, Mithibai College) and Dr. Nitin Malekar (Director, Agri – Food Security and Healthcare Services, Mumbai) were Resource Persons. A total 374 participants from different parts of the country attended the session.

Diagram drawing competition:
Subject based diagram drawing competition was organized by the Department on 14th Feb, 2020, 39 students from F.Y.B.Sc. (CBZ), S.Y. B.Sc. (CB), and T.Y B.Sc. (Botany) participated in the competition and drawn the sketches on various plant tissues/ organs.

To Enhance the drawing skills of SY BSc (CB) learners, an online drawing competition “One Photograph Challenge” Was organized by the department on 8th May, 2020. Mr. Deepak Tiwari, Coordinator, Department of BMM, TCSC) & Mr. Kislaya Kindam Jha, Coordinator,Department of FTNMP, TCSC judged the event.

Sanjeevani: Departmental Activity
To enhance creativity, Leadership quality, presentation skills of the learners, Department had organized intra-collegiate event based on Fun and learn "Sanjeevani" on 3rd Feb, 2020.
There were several subject based sub-themes viz. can you remember, Crazy neurons, Treasure hunt, Botingo (Try your Luck), Fruit Ninza, Brain under hammer (Crime scene), Worm (PPT/Poster) and Jugad from Kabad (Best out of waste). Total 291 students from FY, SY and TY B.Sc. Participated in the event.

Inter-Departmental Activity: Nakshatra
Department of Botany in Collaboration with Department of Physics, organized Nakshatra 2020, on 7th March, 2020. Nakshtra plants exhibition i.e. constellation in which one is born and the plants for that constellations to give strength and energy along with medicinal plants were exhibited. Certificate Courses in Botany:
Department of Botany conduct two unpaid certificate courses, to enhance the skill of the students in the subject.
“Taxonomy of Angiosperms” where students learn the principles of identification, nomenclature and classification of the plants. Duration of the course is 30 hours.
“Sales Mark” in Collaboration with Department of commerce, where Sales Mark: Commerce students learn Practical knowledge of preservation Techniques of Jam, Jellies, Pickles etc. & Botany Students learn Marketing skills. Duration of the course is 30 hours.
