Department of Botany, organized various Curricular and Co-Curricular Activities during the Academic year 2023-24. The details of the activities are as follows:
Workshops:
Department of botany organized a workshop on “Refer the Reference Book” on 12th July, 2023 from 1.30 pm to 3.30 p.m. for the students of S. Y. B. Sc. (CB) and T.Y. B.Sc. Botany, to make them understand importance of the reference books in higher studies and practical knowledge to refer the reference books. 32 students attended the workshop. Dr. Vinit Vaidya was the Resource person for the workshop.

Workshop on “How to arrange and use your Reference Books effectively ” was organized by the department of Botany on August, 19th, 2022. 65 students from U.G. and P.G., participated in the workshop. Mr. Sahasdeo Taware, Librarian and Ms. Monisha Paradkar, Asst. Librarian, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, were the Resource person for the workshop. Students were explained the history of Library Science and process of arranging the books. They were taught how to use the reference books effectively for academics.

On 6th March, 2024, Department of Botany, organized a workshop on “Applications of Coefficient of Correlation as Bio-statistical Tool”. Dr. Gulab Nibrad, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Thakur College of Science and Commerce, was the resource person. He explained basics of Biostatistics as well as how different bio-statistical tools can be used in Botanical study. 32 students attended the workshop.
Guest Lecture:
On 27th January, 2024, Department of Botany organized a Guest lecture on "Understanding Cancer and Its Management ". Resource person Dr. Nitin Malekar, Director, India at Onkos DX, Mumbai addressed the students from F.Y. B. Sc, S.Y. B.Sc., T. Y. B. Sc. & M.Sc. class from Science streams. 78 participants attended the session. Dr. Malekar explained the types of cancer, agents which can cause cancer, cytological and molecular changes in cancerous cells and what precautions should be taken to minimize the same.
Orientation & Refresher Course/FDP:
Dr. Chandra Prakash Shukla, Completed FDP on “Industry led innovations and cutting edge technologies” organized by MSFDA, Pune, from 11th September to 15th September 2023.
Dr. Chandra Prakash Shukla, successfully completed Faculty Development Programme on “Research methodology in Digital humanities. A case computational analysis of non invasive interventions “organized by Department of Computer Science University of Mumbai in collaboration with Thakur Collge of Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Kandivali (E), Mumbai, from 26th February to 29th February, 2024.
Dr. Chandra Prakash Shukla, successfully completed two week (online) Refresher Course in Botany with A+ grade, conducted by Teaching Learning Centre, Ramanujan College, University of Delhi, under the aegis of Ministry of Education, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching, from 29th July to 13th Aug 2023.
