Department of Chemistry - Activities & Events in 2020-21

1.With the objective of streamlining the efforts of scoring high grades in their University examinations, *Scholars talk* for the TYBSc students was organized on 2nd November, 2020.The Speakers were: Mr. Jaydeep Yadav & Ms. Pratiksha Dave. The Number of participants were 50.

2.Online workshop on Chemistry Structure drawing using Chemsketch software was organized. The Resource person was Dr. Arjun Chavan on 12th December,2020 & 9th January,2021.37 Postgraduate students participated in this workshop.

3.Guest lecture was organized on “Higher Education in the USA-The Present Scenario”. The speaker was Karan Maindan, Pursuing Ph.D. Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Southern Illinois University, USA on 23rd January,2021.177 Graduate and Postgraduate students attended this session.

4.Guest lecture was organized on “Importance of the Girl Child”. The speaker was Dr. Neha Nemani MBBS on 24th January,2021.198 Graduate and Postgraduate students attended this session.

5.Guest lecture was organized on “Dissolution Studies”. The speaker was Kesari Thapa, Deputy Manager, Dept. R & D ADL, Ajanta Pharma on 24th January,2021.128 Graduate and Postgraduate students attended this session.

6.As part of the Social Responsibility, the Department organized Online International Level Video Embedded Quiz on Covid Vaccine.1417 participants attempted this quiz. Launch Date 29th January,2021

7.Guest lecture was organized on “Bounce Back Big”. The speaker was Dr Dinesh Gupta

IIT MUMBAI on 5th February,2021.148 Participants attended this session.

8.Guest lecture was organized on “Importance of Pulses & Deworming for Healthy Life”. The speaker was Ms. Namrata Kadam Nutritionist, Coach, Herbalife Wellness on 10th February,2021      98 Graduate and Postgraduate students attended this session.

9.National level Chemistry Proficiency test -Rasayan (NCPT-R2021) was organized separately at the Graduate and the Postgraduate level in which 603 and 172 participated respectively. Launch Date 9th March,2021

10.Guest lecture was organized on “India’s Freedom Struggle, the Dandi March & its significance in today’s context”. The speaker was Mr. Swanand Oak, Senior Journalist on 12th March ,2021.127 participants attended this session.

11.The Department represented 21 exhibits in ORIGIN -2021 held on 20th March,2021

12.Guest lecture was organized on “Scope for higher studies & Research Opportunities after B.Sc. & M.Sc. Chemistry”. The speaker was Dr. Kiran Gore, IIT Kharagpur, on 30th March,2021.150 Graduate and Postgraduate students attended this session.

13.Guest lecture was organized on “Harmful effects of Tobacco and its impact in Covid times”. The speaker was Dr. Rohan Bartake on 5th April,2021.154 participants attended this session.

14.Guest lecture was organized on “Career Opportunities in Packaging.”. The speaker was Dr. Babu Rao Guduri, Joint Director & Head: R & D Division, Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Mumbai. on 28th April,2021.55 TYBSc students attended this session.

15.Guest lecture was organized on “Career Opportunities in HealthCare Sector.”. The speaker was Ms. Bhavisha Kharnare, Sr. Manager, Special Projects & Academics, Hinduja Hospital & Research Center, Mumbai on 5th May,2021.45 TYBSc students attended this session.
