Department of Chemistry - Activities & Events in 2021-22

• The Department in collaboration with Department of Organization of Commerce (Junior) organized “Online International Level Video Embedded Quiz on E-Waste” on 18th April 2022.

• The intention of this activity was to inculcate the awareness regarding the dangers of E- waste posed to the Human civilization 

The total number of participants was 772

• As part of Social Responsibility initiative The Department of Chemistry & OC(Junior) organized a drive to dispose E-Waste on 18th April 2022.

• The Department of Chemistry organized online “National Chemistry Proficiency Test, Rasayan 2022” from 15th April, 2022.The objective of this activity was to create passion for the subject of Chemistry at the National level.

The total number of participants who attempted the test was 300

• Chemistry Association & The Department of Chemistry organized a webinar on “Career in Packaging Industry” on 17th March 2022. The Guest speaker was Dr. Baburao Guduri from Indian Institute of Packaging, Mumbai. The speaker very aptly outlined the growing demand of the packaging industry and urged the participants to pursue this as a full time career.

It was attended by 142 participants

• A Webinar on “Dandi March-Background & Salt Law” was conducted on 12th March 2022 by Mr. Prashant N Deshpande, Konkan Province Coordinator, Swadeshi Jagran Manch. The speaker gave the insight into all the circumstances which led to the successful campaign of the Dandi March

• Department of BMS in collaboration with Department of Chemistry organized Intercollegiate “Online Video Embedded Catechism-Chembuzzment On CBDC” on 26th February,2022.Apart from the core subject of chemistry , the learners were motivated to draw their interest into the financial developments of the country through this event.

277 Participants registered

• The Department of Chemistry conducted its intercollegiate annual departmental fest “CHEMTASTIC 2022” on 25th & 26th February ,2022. Variety of activities were being conducted for the first time under this umbrella at the inter-collegiate level. None of the students of TCSC were participants of this event so as to give fair winning oppourtunities to the participants of other colleges.

• The Department organized lecture series on “CSIR NET SET Examination” for Post Graduate learners From 16th February 2022.The Resource Person was Dr. Sharad Pasale

• Chemistry Association & The Department of Chemistry organized a webinar on “Career Opportunities in Healthcare Sector” on 15th February 2022. The Guest speaker was Ms. Bhavisha Kharnare, Sr. Manager- Special Project’s & Academics, Hinduja Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai. The Guest speaker elaborated on the various post graduate programmes which can be explored at the Hinduja Hospital.

It was attended by 112 participants

• The Department of Chemistry & Samatanagar Traffic Division (Mumbai Police) organized Road Safety Awareness Campaign to create awareness about Road Safety and Traffic Rules on 5th February 2022 in the Seminar Hall. One of the major fatalities in India is due to road accidents. Hence to bring out the relevance of this aspect , this activity was conucted with the help of the traffic police. 

221 learners attended the event.

• A Guest lecture by Riddhi Golwankar (Ph. D, University of Kansas) on the topic “Higher Education in the USA-The Present Scenario” was held online on 23rd December 2021. Many students intend to pursue their higher education abroad. Hence to realise their intentions, this activity was organised wherein the guest speaker all the features associated with pursuing higher education abroad.

It was attended by 248 participants

• The Department organized a webinar on “Role of Daughters in Indian Society” on the occasion of “International Daughters Day “on 26th September 2021.The Guest speaker was Dr. Anjali Badlani, BDS (Dentist). The Guest speaker very lucidly explained the enormous opportunities which the women in the Indian Society can shoulder.

The webinar had altogether 221 participants

• The Department of Chemistry conducted a Guest Lecture on "Understanding of Innovation in your Research”. The Guest Speaker was Dr Shahaji More, Principal Engineer, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Taiwan on 25th September 2021. Research is an integral part of higher education as well as of high professional demand. Hence to prepare the students with the various challenges associated with the field of research, a talk by an eminent scientist was organised.

It was attended by 103 participants

The Department organized a Guest Lecture on "Scholars Talk" by the toppers of 2020-2021 batch, the speakers were Akansha Tiwari, Sana Kazi, Viraj Vaidya. This talk basically was held for the TY BSc students with the intention of smooth planning of their final year studies in Chemistry.

The lecture was attended by 145 participants

• Completed her Internship with the Research Department with Muktangan Education Trust Mumbai in August 2021. 

• Awarded the certificate of Appreciation for Volunteering in “Deaddiction and Cancer Screen Camp” for Sanitation Workers at MCGM, Kandivali from 4th- 5th April.

• Completed the “Online Training Course for Organ Donation Awareness” organised by National service Scheme, the University of Mumbai in collaboration with v4organs foundation, Bengaluru/Mumbai during 2021-22 with an A+Genius Grade
