COMPETITIONS / ACTIVITY CONDUCTED & ORGANISED

Indian Association of Physics Teachers (NGPE-2020) Competitive Examination successfully conducted for F.Y./S.Y./T.Y. B.Sc. students on 19th jan 2020. Total number of Students appeared for the examination is 25.

Science Association conducted an Intra collegiate Science Exhibition ORIGIN 2020 in 18th Jan 2020 . Seven exhibits with 18 students were participated from Department of Physics in INTRACOLLEGIATE SCIENCE FEST ORIGIN -2020 organized by department of Computer Sciences.
Special sessions for preparation of Joint Entrance Test for Master of Science JAM -2020 was conducted by Department faculties for T.Y.B.Sc. students. 09 students were participated.

Physics department celebrated National Science Day on 28th Feb 2019. The Theme for the day was “Science for the people and people for the Science”. FY, SY and TY B.Sc students attended the session. The autobiography film of Nobel Laureates and their Journey towards Success were screened in the collaboration with Mass Media Department.

Inter Departmental Activity" NAKSHATRA"

Department of Physics in collaboration with Botany department organized an event "NAKSHTRA" on 7th March 2020. Prof. Jatan Mehta, Science Communicator, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) delivered a talk on "Why Explore Space?"

Certificate Course in Physics

Department of Physics conduct unpaid certificate course in Energy Auditing for UG students. 36 Students are enrolled. The duration of Course is 30 Hours.

Guest Lecture

a) Prof Krishnkant Mishra,TCET , Kandivali, delivered lecture for undergraduate students on topic " Perspective of Physics in Medical Sciences” on 6th Aug 2019.

Workshop on Syllabus Revision

One day workshop organized by department of Physics to reframe the syllabus of FYBSC under Autonomy on25th Aug 2019 . Prof Raendra Deshmukh, Registrar, ICT, Mumbai, Prof D M Nerkar , HOD Physics Sathaye College, Vile Parle were present
One day workshop organized by department of Physics to reframe the syllabus of SYBSC under Autonomy on23rd Nov2019 . Prof Vijay Mayekar, HOD Physics Ramnarayan Ruia College, Matunga Mumbai was invited to give inputs and guideline for revision of syllabus.

Industry Workshop

2 Two day National level Workshop on Solar Cell Technology was organised by department of Physics in collaboration with e-Cell Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) BOMBAY on 29th & 30th Jan 2020. Prof. G. Rajaganeshan ,Chief Technical officer, Solar Energy Institute Chennai conducted a Training session on Fabrication and installation of Solar Panel/ photo voltaic cell . 20 students participated in the activity.

Field / Industrial Visit

Faculty Members of Department of Physics along with 25 Students visited Mahindra & Mahindra limited company, Kandivali Branch. Mr Sunil Kulkarni, Vice President, Department of Manufacturing Operations Automotive Division enlighten students by giving Live demonstration of assembly of automotive vehicles embedded with DSP systems.

Student’S ACHIEVEMENTS

Mr Akhilesh Tayade persuing M.S In Physics from Copenhegan University, Denmark.
Mr Ranjan Das from TYBSc Physics participated in RD parade at Rajpath, New Delhi on 26th Jan 2020.
Mr Dharmendra Yadav SYBSc Physics student got selected in Corps of Military Police in Indian Army.
Ms. Vaishnavi Singh SYBSc Physics student got opportunity to participate in AYIMUN 2020 (Asia Youth International Model United Nations) organised by World Health Organisation (WHO) in Malaysia between 22nd-25th Feb 2020. She delivered a talk based on socio-economical condition in Sudan.

TEACHER’S ACHIEVEMENTS

1. Dr Gitesh Padhye has been Appointed as a Academic Counselor for the Bachelors Degree Programmes for Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.

2. University of Mumbai, Research Convection Avishkar 2019 Felicitated Dr Gitesh Padhye for Guiding Research Group entitled " Development of Nutritious Khakara- A source opf Protein" at UG level selection round on 24th Dec 2019 for Mumbai-2 Zone.

3. Dr Gitesh Padhye attended Three Days InterNational Conference on " Smart materials and nanotechnology (ICSMN-2020)" organised by SKN Sinhgad college of Engineering, Pandharpur held during 02 to 04 Jauary 2020.

4. Dr Gitesh Padhye attended Three Days InterNational Conference on " Advanced nanomaterials & Nanotechnology" organised by S D college, palghar and Department of physics University of Mumbai From 26 to 28 November 2109.

5. Dr Gitesh Padhye worked as a member in Advisory Committee and also Resource person in Three Days InterNational Conference on " Advanced nanomaterials & Nanotechnology" organised by S D college, palghar and Department of physics University of Mumbai From 26 to 28 November 2109.

6. Dr . Pravin Pawar was appointed as a judge in Avishkar , Research Convention :2019-20 at Mumbai University level.

7. Dr. Pravin Pawar worked as a resource person in two days workshop organized by National College of Sci and Commerce in Feb 2020.

DR. Amit Singh	Published a paper titled “ FTIR- Reflectance Study of PEDOT:PSS/Ge Nano composite thin films” in the Journal of Research in Physics and Applied Sciences, vol3, No1, may 2020.

Refresher /Short term course:

Dr. Gitesh Padhye attended refresher course organized by UGC-HRDC in the subject of Physics. The refresher course completed successfully with 'A' Grade at UGC HRDC- University of Mumbai , between 6th Nov to 19th Nov 2019.
Dr. Amitkumar Singh successfully completed “LaTeX for Students, Engineers, and Scientists”an online course conducted from 24 September 2019 to 2 December 2019offered by IITBombayX, an online learning initiative of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

Short term course:

Mr. Shailendra Singh attended a short term course on Cooperative learning organised by SNDT , department of Education Technology on 16-22 March 2020.
