Department of Physics - Activities & Events in 2020-21
In the Academic year 2020-21, Department of Physics had organized various Curricular and Co-Curricular Activities to enhance the knowledge of learners in field of Physics. The details of the activities conducted are as follows:
On the occasion of National Science Day Department of Physics Organized a Science Quiz competition (online) for undergraduate students on Saturday, 27th Feb 2021.
A Screen play (online) on “Prof Satendra Nath Bose- A Journey towards Nobel Prize” for FY and TYBsc Students on 1st March 2021. More than 100 students participated in both the activities.
A guest lecture for Certificate course on Energy Auditing organized on Thursday 25th March 2021 through Zoom platform. Dr Ajitkumar Gudekar, Certified Energy Auditor and Assistant Professor, D J Sanghavi College of Engineering, Mumbai was the resource person. The Topic for the speech was “Energy Auditing, Energy Management & Career Opportunity”.
On 1st April, 2021 an online guest lecture was organized by the department of Physics and Botany on “Importance of Proteins in Daily Diet”. Resource person Ms. Vibha Hasija, Department of Food, Nutrition & Dietics, Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai, spoke about the role of proteins in our daily diet. Total 100 participants attended the session.
A Lecture on Career Opportunities in Physics after Graduation was organised on 3rd April 2021 for undergraduate students. 49 students were attended. The Resource person Mr. Shailendra Singh spoke about the various career options in the field of Physics and allied Branches.
12 Students from F Y B Sc & S. Y. B. Sc. Participated in “ORIGIN 2021” under guidance of Dr. Pravin Pawar.
19 Students appeared in National Level Online competitive examination conducted by Indian Association of Physics Teachers, National Graduate Physics Examination held on 24th Jan 2021.

A one day workshop on “Get yourself Ready for Job Market” based on English communication and Personality Development for the learners of SY and TYBSc physics had organized on 14th April 2021 through ZOOM platform. The details of the workshop were mentioned below.

presented a paper titled “Study on Blending of Groundnut Oil with Other Vegetable Oils and its Physicochemical Properties” in the National Conference on “Sustainable Development - A Green Approach” held on 6th March, 2021 at Thakur College of Science & Commerce, Kandivali (East), Mumbai.
Presented a Research Paper titled "Influence of Physical & Chemical Factors on species Richness of Fresh water algae of Western Ghat, India” in One Day National conference on “Sustainable Development :A Green Approach” organized by Department of Botany, EVS and IQAC of TCSC in collaboration with University of Mumbai, on 6th March, 2021.
Presented a Research Paper on " A Review on Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons: Sources, Routes of Exposure and Methods of Bio-remediation". in One Day National conference on “Sustainable Development :A Green Approach” organized by Department of Botany, EVS and IQAC of TCSC in collaboration with University of Mumbai, on 6th March, 2021.
participated & presented paper titled “Blending of Edible Oils to study change in Physicochemical Parameters” in the Golden Jubilee “International Conference on Nanomaterials & Nanotechnology” held on 25th to 27th March, 2021 organized by Department of Physics, University of Mumbai.

Dr.Pravin Pawar has attended a One National conference (Online) conducted by Department of Botany ,Thakur College of Science and Commerce , Kandivali (East), on Sustainable Development-A Green Approach held on 6th March 2021 and presented paper as “Conducting Polymers :As an Alternate Energy Source”.

Mr Raj Panchal Participated and presented a research paper entitled “ Bizarre black holes” in the conference of Physics Education and Research organized by Space Education and Research Foundation (SERF) Ahmadabad during 21-26 Sept 2020.
Third Year student Mr.Ritesh Pasi has successfully completed a certification in ‘Satellite Based Navigation :A journey from GPS to Mobile Phone Platform ’ conducted by Dept Of Space, Indian Space Research Organisation , Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun , conducted From 1st Mar 2021 to 12th March 2021.
TYBSc Physics student Mr. Ritesh Dharmendra Pasi successfully completed a International short term course on Advanced Physics between 6-8 August 2020.
