Department of Physics - Activities & Events in 2022-23

• COMPETITIONS / ACTIVITY CONDUCTED & ORGANISED 

• Indian Association of Physics Teachers (NGPE-2022) Competitive Examination successfully conducted for F.Y./S.Y./T.Y. B.Sc. students on   22nd January, 2023. Total number of Students appeared for the examination is 23. 

• JAM lecture series was conducted from September 2022 to January 2023 by Dept. members to guide the students to qualify competitive exam. Total 15 lectures were conducted to guide students on topic of core physics like electronics, solid state physics, Mathematical physics, Atomic physics, Laser Nuclear physics etc. 

• Physics department celebrated National Science Day on 26th Feb 2023 by visiting TIFR, Colaba, Mumbai. Total 40 students of FY, SY and TY B.Sc. class participated. To attend lectures on popular themes like Black Holes, cryptography and Giantmetre-wave Radio Telescope were witnessed by staff and students.

• Department of Physics organized the visit to attend INNOVATION FESTIVALorganized by Ministry of Culture, Government of India in Warli, on 3rd FEB 2023 by visiting Nehru Science Center. Total 58participants were part of the event. 

• A Career Guidance Session was conducted for F. Y. B. Sc. (CBZ & PCM) students on Saturday, 1st April 2023 in the Seminar Hall from 1.00 to 3.30 p.m. Dr. GiteshPadhye (Head, Department of Physics) guided the students about various career options and job opportunities in the respective fields. Total 97 students [76 students from F. Y. B. Sc. (CBZ) and 21 students from F. Y. B. Sc. (PCM)] attended the session. 

• Guest Speaker

1. Special session ON quantum mechanics “BASIC PHILOSOPHY BEHIND QUANTUM MECHANICS”F.Y.B.Sc. ,S.Y.B.Sc. , T.Y.B.Sc. wasconducted by Dr. Ashish Desai, Assistant professor, Dept. of Physics, ParvatibaiChougule college of Arts and Science, Margaon, Goa  on 18th August 2022 from 10.45 am to 12.00 noon.Basics of quantum theory, concept of particle in box 1D, 2D and 3D are covered with many examples. Total 130 students from above mentioned class were participated.

2. Dr. Shivani Singh, Assistant professor, Dept. of Physics, Thakur College of Engineering and Technology, delivered a guidance lecture for undergraduate students on topic “My Journey towards research after Graduation” on 14th March 2023.Learners were explored the future perspective in Physics.Total 80 students from F.Y.B.Sc. andS.Y.B.Sc. above class were participated.

Inter Departmental Activity" NAKSHATRA"

• FIELD VISIT

• Department of Physics in collaboration with Department of Botany and Science Association organized the event "NAKSHTRA" on 15th JAN 2023.  In this activity study of ETHENO-BOTNICAL PLANT in Natural Habitat was done. Total 29 students and 4 staff members  were part of the event.

• Faculty Members of Department of Physics along with 42 Students of F.Y.B.Sc., S.Y.B,Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc.visited to Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) HOMI BHABHA Auditorium, Colaba, and Mumbai, to understand the industrial uses of LIQUID NITROGEN on 26th FEB 2023.Learners were participated in live demo experiment on stage.

  
  

• Faculty along with Non Teaching staff of Department of Physics visited to the event WESTERN INDIA SCIENCE FAIR conducted by Ministry of culture , Government of India on 3rd February to attend the  hands on different experiments  organized by students from Rajasthan , Madhya Pradesh and Goa . Total 50 students fromF.Y.B.Sc., S.Y.B,Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc. werepresent for the event. 

• MOU SIGNED 

MOU is signed between Thakur College of Science & Commerce (Party 1)and Transcend Satellite Technology PvtLtd(Party 2) on 25th September 2022. The MOU was taking place to mutually develop a Cube satellite Training.This MOU is aimed to promote the study and research of Satellite and Technology and its applications among the global student community. The MOU was signed by Dr. GiteshPadhye, HOD, Department of Physics along with Principal       Dr. (Mrs.) ChaitalyChakraborty (Party 1) and Ms. PramithaRamprakash, Chief executive officer (Party 2). This event was supported by Hon. Trustee Manoj Singh Ji and Mr. GovindYadav, Founder, Vyomika Space Pvt Ltd along with T.K. Sundermurthy(Former Mission Director, ISRO).

• Lecture conducted on 7th Floor for Space related awareness

A Guest Lecture cum Seminar on ISRO SPACE Activities was organized on 7th September 2022   on 7th Floor auditorium by Mr. GovindYadav, Founder, Vyomika Space Pvt Ltd.   Topic “Opportunities to Join the Indian Space Program” wascovered. Presentation on historical journey of ISRO and various types of space missions organized by ISRO was narrated with animations and visuals.To aware students about space program and assembling of mini satellite   lecture was conducted .Total 85 students from F.Y.B.Sc.and  S.Y.B,Sc. were participated.

• Hands on in Physics Lab for making satellite.

Two days workshop cum Hands on training as ‘VYOMIKA SPACE CAMP’ for making satellite was organized on 27th -28th SEPTEMBER 2022 in Physics Lab for degree college students by Mr. GovindYadav, Founder, Vyomika Space Pvt  Ltd. In this workshop humidity, temperature, and height measuring sensors were interfaced with Aurdino processor. Initially circuit is tested on breadboard later same is mounted on Printed circuit board and readings were recorded at various places in college premises. Total 22 students from class F.Y. &S.Y.B.Sc. were participated.

Student’s ACHIEVEMENTS

• Ms. Rakhee Roy learner from SYBSc, PM( Roll No: 1320)was participated and successfully completed the course on “GEO SAPTIAL APPLICATIONS FOR FOREST ECOSYSTEM ANALYSIS” conducted during 20th JUN 2022 to 25th JUN 2022 conducted by Department of Space , ISRO, Government of India. 

TEACHER’S ACHIEVEMENTS

1. Dr. GiteshPadhye was invited as a resource person to R.D.National College, for workshop on revised syllabus of Practical in Physics 25th AUGUST 2022.

2. Dr. GiteshPadhye published a book on HANDBOOK ON PRACTICAL PHYSICS’ on FYBSC by SHETH Publication with ISBN No. 978-93-5576-362-4.

3. Dr. GiteshPadhye attended “International Climate change Conference on Impact study of Climate change and  Air quality for sustainable goals” on 13th January, 2023 at Thakur college of science and commerce kandivali.

4. Dr. GiteshPadhye was invited as a resource person to DBJ College, Chiplun for one day workshop on CBCGS, FYBSC revised syllabus on 27th AUG 2022.

5.   21st  April 2023. In Research Scholor Meet, Research Students of Patkar College, Affiliated to Mumbai University has presented their research proposals through presentations.

6. Dr. Amitkumar Singh attended “International Climate change Conference on Impact study of Climate change and  Air quality for sustainable goals” on 13th January, 2023 at Thakur college of science and commerce kandivali.

7. Mr. Shailendra Kumar Singh was invited  as a judge for an Intercollegiate poster presentation in Physics on 21st December 2022 at Royal College.

8. Mr. Shailendra Kumar Singh attended “International Climate change Conference on Impact study of Climate change and  Air quality for sustainable goals” on 13th January, 2023 at Thakur college of science and commerce kandivali.

Awards:

Dr. GiteshPadhyereceived a prestigious degree ofDOCTOR OF SCIENCE(D.Sc.) from THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY, USA in month of May 2023. This degree received by the hands of Honorable chief rector, American University. I was shortlisted by 120 Governors of the States.

Research Paper Publication:

Refresher /Short term /FDP course:

• Dr.GiteshPadhye attended FDP on IMPLEMENTING NEP 2020 for quality Education in HEIs from 9th AUG -16th AUG 2022, conducted by Thakur College of Science and Commerce.

• Dr. Amitkumar Singh attended and completed one week faculty development program and ‘Meaningful Research & Intellectual property Rights “ from 4 to 10 July , 2022 Organized by Teaching Learning Centre, Ramanujan College University of Delhi in collaboration with K.L.E. Society, B.V. Bellad Law College, Belgavi Karnataka under the ageis of PanditMadan Mohan Malviya National Mission on teachers and teaching. .

• Mr. Shailendra Kumar Singh has attended workshop on “Students Centricity in Education at FlameUniveristy, Pune, Maharashtra, organized by MSFDA during 16th to 18th December, 2022.

• Dr.PravinPawar was attended  a STTP on QUANTUM COMPUTING conducted by Fr.C.Rodrigues Institute of Technology , Vashi, Navi Mumbai  conducted in duration 05th-9th January 2023.

• Dr.PravinPawar was attended “The Olyampiad Exposure Camp in Physics -2023” held at HomiBhabha Science Center , TIFR, Mankhurd held on 16th JAN 2023 to 20thJauary 2023.
