Indian Association of Physics Teachers (NGPE-2022) Competitive Examination successfully conducted for F.Y./S.Y./T.Y. B.Sc. students on 21st January, 2024. Total number of Students appeared for the examination is 22.

Physics department celebrated National Science Day on 25th Feb 2024 by visiting TIFR, Colaba, Mumbai. Total 15 students of FY, SY and TY B.Sc. class participated. To attend lectures on popular themes like Physics is Fun, The cool show and Mesmerizing chemistry were witnessed by staff and students.

Guest Speaker

Special sessiononAstronomy“”F.Y.B.Sc. ,S.Y.B.Sc. , T.Y.B.Sc. wasconducted by Dr. VirendraYadav, Assistant professor, ARIES, NanitalUttarakhandon 18th August 2023 from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. On “Why should we study Astronomy?”Total 110 students from above mentioned class were participated.

Adv. ChetanBhavkar , Lawyer High Court delivered a guidance lecture under walk with Scholors for undergraduate students on topic “Career in Law after Graduation ” on 12th February 2024 .Learners were explored the future perspective in Indian Constitution and Law .Total 25 students from S.Y.B.Sc. andT.Y.B.Sc. above class were participated.

Seminar / Workshop organized by department

One day -International Colloquium on Millets and Cultural Heritage

The Government of India sponsored the proposal for International Year of Millets (2023) which was accepted by United Nations General Assembly. To promote the use of Millet Department of Physics along with basic sciences conducted One day -International Colloquium on Millets and Cultural Heritage on 10th FEB 2024. From Department of Physics along with faculty, 20 students from TYBSC were participated. Renown speakers like MissNaziaDeoghare, Finland and Dr A.D. Jadhav , Cuba at international and at national level Dr Sushil Kumar Upadhyay , Ex Director RCFC –CR were participated as Guest Speaker.

Inter Departmental Activityon :

FIELD VISIT
Department of Physics in collaboration with Department of Aviation and Science Association attended the event on 16th December 2023 at Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology. The program was arranged by Aeronautical Society of India on ‘Aviation Saftey Equipment Display’ to spread awareness about Safety equipments and Regulation. In this event total 18 students and 1 staff members were participated from Physics Department.

ESTABLISHMENT OF ASTRONOMY CLUB :

The MOU is signed between Thakur College of Science & Commerce (Party 1)and Transcend Satellite Technology Pvt. Ltd(Party 2) on 25th September 2022 continued this year .The MOU was taking place to mutually develop a Cube satellite Training.This MOU was aimed to promote the study and research of Satellite and Technology and its applications among the global student community. Yomika Space Pvt. Ltd along with T.K. Sundermurthy(Former Mission Director, ISRO).With reference to this MOU , the Department of Physics established Astronomy club with Third year and Second year .Under which different activities were planned based on Astrophysics and Astronomy events.

Live Telecast of Launching of ADITYA L1 conducted on 7th Floor for Space related awareness

Department of Physics and Astronomy club together celebrated a live telecast of the launch of ADITYA L1 in DEVPRABHAKAR SHASTRI studio on 7thFloor. To spread awareness in students about India’s achievement in space program this event was organized.Total 85 students from F.Y.B.Sc. S.Y.B,Sc.andT.Y.B.Sc.were participated.

2 days Inter College cultural resonance

Two dayscompetition cum event was organized by Astronomy club along with collaboration of Department Physics .The participants were participated in event like DATA & WISDOM, SENSORY & SCIENCE, DIFFERENT GAMES& CHALLENGES .Learner from Science and Commerce were actively participated in PUZZLES &ARTS. ENTERTAINMENT event was highly responded by all stream learners as its sub events like MINI SHARK TANK and CHARADE EXTRAVAGANZA were challenged spontaneity of participants.

Address of PM to the Youth :

Department of Physics conducted live streamline ofAddress of PM to the youth at DevshastriPrabhakar studio, 7th Floor on the occasion of Three Semiconductor Facilities. Learners from the basic sciences along with the faculty were present for event of “India’sTechade: Chips for Viksit Bharat” on 13th March 2024.

CARRE activity :

Online course conducted by MAHRASTRA GOVERNMENT, supported on UNICEF

Learners from F.Y.B.Sc.(PC-PM) were participated in CARREactivity by completing Online course conducted by MAHARASTRA GOVERNMENT, supported by UNICEF on CLIMATE CHANGE AND WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. Total 20 learners were successfully completed the event. The course was conducted during 20th -26th Mar 2024.

Social Activities

Learners from F.Y.B.Sc.(PC-PM) were participated in Charni Road chowpaty cleaning event planned under CARREactivity. Total 20 students were participated in Social Activity .

Ms. Rakhee Roy learner from TYBSc, Physics ( Roll No: 403 ) , got selected for for THE GEORGE WASHIGTON UNIVERSITY for MS Program in the field of Physics(Astrophysics) with scholarship offered as $21000.

Mr. Vinayak Singh (SYBSC-PM-1106) got recognition from NASA in collaboration with Institute of Astronomy , University of Hawai for his contribution for analysis of data for objects near Earth and Main belt asteroids.

Dr. GiteshPadhye has been awarded Global Academics Excellence Award 2024 (International) at Dubai UAE on 10th-11th Feb 2024.
Dr.PravinPawar was Appointed as Judge for Avishkar -2023-24 by University of Mumbai.'
Dr.PravinPawar was published a patent on “EXPLORING SUPERCONDUCTING DEVICES FOR EFFICIENT QUANTUM INFORMATION PROCESSING AND STORAGE”in OCT 23.
