National Space day Celebration
The national space event was organized on 23rd August 2024. The event featured various competitions, including a quiz and a sketching contest, Science Show and Movie screening which allowed students to showcase their knowledge, creativity and witnessed experiments related to lens law, low frequency, Bernoulli's principle, and electromagnetic disturbances. Total 150 students of FY, SY and TY B.Sc. class participated in the event.
Visit to Research Institute
Physics department visited “ Giant Meter wave Radio Telescope” world's most powerful telescope operating at low radio frequencies built and operated by the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research on 29th November . Total 47 students of FY, SY and TY B.Sc. class and 03 staff members participated in the event.
Competative Examination
Indian Association of Physics Teachers (NGPE-2024) Competitive Examination successfully conducted for F.Y./S.Y./T.Y. B.Sc. students on 19th January, 2025. Total number of Students appeared for the examination is 21.
Organized Science Exhibition ORIGIN 2025
Department of Physics in collaboration with Science Association successfully organized ORIGIN 2025 interdepartmental event aimed to foster scientific curiosity, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration on 18th February 2025. The event was inaugurated by the Principal of Thakur College, along with distinguished guests, faculty members, and student coordinators.
A total of 156 projects were exhibited in different formats like Working Models, Non-Working Models and Poster Presentations from various departments. The event reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing modern challenges. The event concluded with an award ceremony recognizing the winners of competitions. Faculty members and student volunteers were appreciated for their contributions in making ORIGIN 2025 a grand success.
National Science Day celebration
Physics department celebrated National Science Day on 1st March 2025 by visiting TIFR, Colaba, Mumbai. Total 30 students of FY, SY and TY B.Sc. class participated. To attend lectures on popular themes like “ Universe ke Kahani gravational waves ki Jubani” and Talking machines were witnessed by staff and students.
Walk with Scholors
Adv. Vikas Singh, distinguished alumnus of 2007 batch, co-founder of "All is Well” financial firm delivered a guidance lecture under “walk with Scholars” for undergraduate students on topic “Career in Finance after Graduation ” on 7th March 2025. The event aimed to broaden students' perspectives on potential career paths beyond traditional physics-related fields. Various career opportunities in finance was discussed including: Financial analysis, Risk management, Quantitative finance Investment banking & Fintech. He explained how the strong mathematical and analytical foundation gained from a physics degree can be a significant advantage in these fields.He also provided practical advice on: Developing relevant skills, Networking, Preparing for interviews and importance of continuing education and certifications.The lecture included time for a question-and-answer session, allowing students to ask specific questions and gain further clarification. 15 T.Y.B.Sc.physics students actively participated in the lecture, demonstrating a keen interest in the topic.

Dr. Gitesh Padhye has attended FDP on co-exploring multiple dimensions of assessments in higher education, conducted by MSFDA , Pune from 3 June – 7 June 2024.
Dr. Gitesh Padhye has published book on Physics Practicals as per NEP – 2020 for FYBSC Students with ISBN : 9789362682130 at SHETH publications.
Dr. Gitesh Padhye, Dr Pravin Pawar, Dr Amit Singh & Mr. Shailendra Singh has worked as Presiding officer in Maharashtra State Assembly Elections - November 2024.
Dr. Gitesh Padhye has appointed by University of Mumbai as Coordinator in SYBSC syllabus committee.
Dr. Amit Singh has attended One week Faculty Development Programon “Hands-on Training on High End Research Equipment” , organized by Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, Maharashtra In collaboration with Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy (MSFDA) Pune, from 9 Dec – 14 Dec 2024.
