Junior College Commerce - Activities & Events in 2024-25


Commerce Association Maths

Department of Mathematics (Junior College) organised Skill Development Programs on 23rd January, 28th January, 3rd February and  6th February 2025 to enhance their practical skill with resource person Mr. Jainish Gotecha.

Activities Included, Know Yourself ,Meet and Greet ,Closing Eyes Knowing Someone ,Turncoat Debate,Sell a Product, Group Discussion,Debate ,Knowledge Improvement ,Talent Show,Insights of Business and Startups,Interviews,Resume Writing,Impact and Testimonials 

Participants reported significant improvements in their technical and soft skills. Employers acknowledged the enhanced capabilities of program graduates, leading to better job opportunities and professional growth. Testimonials from participants highlight the program’s effectiveness in career transformation.

Total 85 students participated in progam. 


Department of Economics

Department of Economics of TCSC (Junior Commerce) had Conducted a Skill Development Programme from 9th to 14th January 2025, with a view to inculcate & nourish Soft Skill, Professional Skill, Management Skill & Personality Development of the Students to enable them to acquaint & get adapted with the requirements of corporate sector, so as to enhance their employability.

The Session was of 5 Day’s ( 10 hours). Dr. Vinit Vaidya & Mr. Aakash Deshmukh were the Resource Persons for the Session. It was highly interactive and Activity Based Session. Enthusiasm, Vibes & Active participation of the Students were highly  Commendable, throughout the Session. 128 Students enrolled for the Event. SKD Test was conducted on 24th January 2025 . 43 Students Appeared & Successfully Completed the course. Certificates were issued to the Students who have Cleared the Exam. It was a New Learning experience to the Participants.


Book Keeping & Accountancy Department

Book Keeping and Accountancy Department of Junior College, conducted the Skill Development Program on 'Accounting Package in Computer' from 3rd March to 8th March, 2025.

The program received an overwhelming response from around 40 students from IT and Non-IT FYJC Divisions who participated in the program.

Dr. Prashant Hakim, the Resource Person, assisted students to understand the basics of Tally Accounting Software by completing the course in 10 hours.

Students were enthusiastic to participate, raise questions and clear their doubts. Students gave a positive feedback for the learning experience of new accounting skills and were delighted and happy to get a Participation Certificate for attending all the sessions.


Commerce Association

Commerce association of Junior College organized “Anti -Tobacco “ seminar on 15th February 2025. This seminar was organized to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption, educate them about prevention strategies and encourage a tobacco – free lifestyle. The event aimed to provide factual information regarding the dangerous of tobacco use , specifically the younger generation. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Rohan Bartake  who inspired students to adopt and maintain healthy habits , free from tobacco. He also discussed the immediate and long – term health effects of tobacco use , including cancer , lung disease ,heart condition and the psychological impact. Total 149 students attended the seminar.

Department of Environment Education

Department of Environment Education (Junior Science and Commerce) organized a Skill-based Workshop on 30th January, 2025 in the Inner Quadrangle, in collaboration with Pidilite Industries. The Workshop covered Pouch making and Fridge Magnet Making, taught by 2 professionals - Shamika Deshpande and Anchan Adhao from Fevicryl. The objective was to inculcate 'Learning by Doing for future Sustainable Living'. 91 participants joined for this Workshop and proudly  took away their self- made artefacts. Not to forget, the pouches made by them were exchanged with each other as a memory


Department of Secretarial Practice

Department of Secretarial Practice (Junior Commerce) and Department of B.Com (Banking and Insurance) jointly  organized “SKIILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM on "STOCK MARKET and ONLINE TRADING ” on 20th and 21st January ,2025.  This event was organized to make students understand the importance and role of capital market in the Indian economy and to spread awareness about how the stock market works in India. It was conducted by SEBI SMART trainers Mr. Pratyush Bhaskar and Ms. Surbhi Gupta. The program imparted valuable knowledge to the learners who were motivated to develop their skill by taking specialised courses and start trading in their future. 102 students participated and successfully completed the program.


GST Wokrshop Report 2024

Date of the Event: 27th September 2024

Venue: 6th Floor (Room No. 609, 610, 611, 612) at Thakur College of Science and Commerce.

On 27th September 2024, the Department of BAF and Junior College ( Accounts department ) of a Thakur College of Science and Commerce organized an informative and interactive GST (Goods and Services Tax) Workshop. The total count of 585 learners who registered and attended the work shop.

The event aimed at providing students with a comprehensive understanding of GST and its impact on various aspects of business and the economy. The workshop was held in conjunction with the ICSI seminar, adding depth to the academic experience for the students.

The primary focus of the GST workshop was to make the learning process engaging, fun, and interactive. To achieve this, the event incorporated various activities, including games, chart presentations, and the creation of placards by the students to explain key concepts of GST. These activities were designed to encourage active participation and make the learning process more enjoyable and practical.

Activities and Highlights of the Event:
1. Introduction to GST: 
The workshop began with an overview of Goods and Services Tax (GST), explaining its significance in the modern economic landscape and how it has revolutionized the taxation system in India.
Students were introduced to the basic principles behind GST, including its types (CGST, SGST, IGST), and its impact on both businesses and consumers.
2. Interactive Learning through Games:
To enhance engagement, several interactive games were organized. These games allowed students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical and fun way.
The games covered key topics such as the computation of GST, the concept of supply, and identifying exempted items under GST, helping students better understand how GST functions and its various components.
3. Student-Led Presentations:
Students were encouraged to create charts, games, and placards that explained different aspects of GST. This collaborative effort allowed students to present complex concepts in a simplified and creative manner.
Through the charts, students depicted visual representations of GST types, computation formulas, and GST rates. The placards highlighted exempted items, offering quick reference material for understanding GST in day-to-day business contexts.
This hands-on approach reinforced learning, ensuring that students internalized the concepts of GST in a more memorable and effective way.
4. Group Discussions and Q&A Sessions:
The event included group discussions, where students were divided into smaller teams to discuss various GST-related topics. This encouraged collaborative learning and provided a deeper understanding of the complexities of GST.
A Q&A session followed, providing students with the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts regarding GST, its implementation, and its implications on business operations.

Outcome of the Event:
The GST workshop achieved several key outcomes:
1. Enhanced Understanding of GST:
Students gained a deeper understanding of GST, including its types, computation, supply concept, and exempted items. The interactive games and student-led presentations made the learning experience engaging and practical.
2. Increased Engagement:
The workshop saw a high level of participation from students. The inclusion of interactive games, group discussions, and creative presentations helped maintain student engagement throughout the event.
3. Development of Collaborative and Creative Skills:
Through group activities such as creating charts, games, and placards, students developed their collaborative and creative skills, which will benefit them in their academic and professional careers.
4. Practical Application of Knowledge:
By participating in the games and presentations, students were able to apply their knowledge of GST in real-world scenarios, making the learning process more relevant and impactful.



Entrepreneurship Development

The Department of OCM organised a three day  SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM on 30th, 31st and 1st February 2025 on the topic- Entrepreneurship Development. The objective behind this event was to develop the process of acquiring and refining the necessary abilities and knowledge to successfully launch and manage a business. 
There were three renowned speakers for the start up fields - Mr Prashant Katarkar , Mr Ms Jasmeen Kaur, Charit Anchan who in their innovative ways shared their skill and ideas with our students.
There were around 60 students who participated in the event .



Skill Development Programme (Dept. of Economics, Junior College)

SHORT  FILM MAKING  &  STREET PLAY  Department of Economics of Junior College of TCSC organised a Short Film Making   & Street Play   Competition, respectively on 26th & 28th of August 2024. Theme of the Event was “ National Integration.” Objective of the Event was to inculcate & Foster the feeling of Unity in Diversity, Harmony, Tolerance, Peace, co-operation, Patriotism etc_among the Student’s, that in turn will contribute in Building up of a Strong & Secular Nation_ Incredible India _ the Largest Democratic Country & emerging  Super Economic Power, that can lead the Whole World.

PR ACTIVITY:-   As a part of inculcating values & in developing the Feeling of Oneness, the Department  Conducted a class -to-class  PR ACTIVITY in Junior Commerce section ( FYJC & SYJC) on 26th August & had created a huge impact among the Students, by creating awareness regarding  the Need for National Integration. 
FYJC & SYJC  Student’s Actively Participated in PR activity, wearing Tri colour Dress,  Taking  the Pledge ; Reciting  Patriotic  Poetries, waving  Amazing & Creative Posters with the Theme  “National Integration.” All the Performer’s & Best 3 Poster’s were awarded/ motivated  with Surprise Gifts.
