Creating an Inspiring  Story Of your Own

Junior Computer Science, I.T. and Electronics Department had jointly organised Nation webinar on Life Skills on 6th August, 2020 at 5p.m. on zoom platform.

More than 390 people attended the webinar. Professors, Associate Professors, Junior college teachers and students from various colleges were present for the webinar.

         

 Mrs.Vaishali Naik, Senior HR Leader, Kotak Mahindra Bank & Hay House teacher, spoke on the occasion for  renewing motivation and developing self confidence in students.

Workshop - Developing skill set through MS-XCEL

With an aim to introduce F.Y.J.C. students of  Science and Commerce to the various uses and  functionalities of the software MS-EXCEL , the Department of  Computer Science and I.T. jointly organized a ten days Online Workshop on MS-EXCEL from 15th Feb. to 26th Feb. , 2021. On each day, one faculty member of Department of Computer Science or I.T. conducted classes over Zoom Meeting from 5pm to 6pm.

On the last of the work shop, the link for the feedback form was shared with the participants. The e-certificates were distributed to them  within a couple of days.

Thus ended the Online Workshop on MS – EXCEL with immensely positive feedback .It serves its prime objective to introduce and expose F.Y.J.C. students  to  tools of MS-EXCEL that are necessary for data handling, data entry and data analysis in day to day life.

Webinar: Preparing Youth for Aatmanirbhar Bharat


The Junior Science Department of Mathematics at Thakur College of Science & Commerce successfully conducted a webinar on “Preparing Youth for Aatmanirbhar Bharat” on 8th August 2020 at 5.00 pm.. The honorable speaker for the same was Dr. (CA) Varadraj Bapat who hails from the Department of Accounting and Finance, SJM School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.

 

The webinar saw an overwhelming response and was joined by 380 attendees from across the country. Dr. Varadraj spoke about a plethora of topics like Capitalism, Indian Economic Thinking and Mental Disorder.  He brought into fore an interesting correlation between Indian economic thinking and spirituality Vasudhaiva Kutumbhakam concept. He also compared various forms of economic thinking like Materialistic vs Spiritual, Comforts vs Happiness, Individualistic vs Collective and Competition vs Co-operation prevailing in the society today. He talked about how consumerism and capitalism has negatively affected the world with respect to the society we live in as well as the environment. He also emphasized on how Substance abuse is a leading and prevalent factor contributing towards mental disorder in today’s youth.


The webinar was very effective, resourceful and had a strong impact on all the attendees. Dr. Varadraj concluded the webinar with a strong proverb which said “Unity makes a country strong and powerful”. 

Activity  II

Department of mathematics (junior science) conducted a quiz competition on “Basic Trigonometric Formulae “on 29th April 2021 for giving an edge to the  students appearing in the competitive exams which was attempted by 118 students.

The winners of this quiz competition: Gupta Puja Umesh from S16/3265 bagged the first rank, Bhatia Shreya from S12/ 2409 stood second while Mamindla Rashmitha from S15/3088 stood third.


BIOLOGY  DEPARTMENT

Habit Mastery

Biology Department, Junior College, TCSC had organised Nation webinar on “Habit Mastery” on 5th August, 2020 at 5p.m. on Zoom platform.

The webinar was organised on “Discover how to make new habits and break old, Learn the missing link in Habits”

188 registrations done from different parts of the country. 

More than 239 people attended the webinar. Professors, Associate Professors, Junior college teachers and students from various colleges were present for the webinar.

The webinar commenced with Ganesh Vandana by Mrs. Trupti Raul and a short introduction of  our college. It was followed by a welcome speech delivered byScience Vice Principal, Mr. Narendra Tiwari.

Mr. Kerry D’ Souza gave a  brief introduction of  the Resource person, Mr Krishna Iyer. He is Trainer and Director in Technology and Education companies. 

He is a  motivational speaker at several global conferences including the Windy City Banking Conferences in Chicago, had addressed Engineers at Microsoft Seatle, CEOs & executive in India, United States, Malaysia and Canada on topics such as Leadership, Corporate Governance, Team collaboration, Egoless leadership, Innovation and Thinking skills.

Activity  II

Biology Department, Junior college had organized skill development program  on Hydrophonics for FYJC students from 19th April to 29th April 2021. Total 20 students participated.        



CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT 

Webinar on topic “ Molecules that changed the world”.

Chemistry Department (Junior Science) of Thakur College of Science and Commerce organised a webinar on 1st August 2020, on the topic  “Molecules that changed the world “ .  

Prof. Dr. Santosh .J .Gharpure from Chemistry Dept. IIT Bombay was the esteemed Guest speaker for the day. 

 The webinar was conducted on zoom platform and was streamed live on youtube from 5:00p.m 

The webinar was attended by 379 participants from across India and outside comprising of teachers from degree and junior colleges , research scholars and  students  . 

The objective was to make people aware  about some simple molecules discovered during nineteenth and twentieth century through a synthetic chemists perspective . 

To develop interest  and understanding of few molecules which brought renaissance in science of their time and which continue to make an impact even today . 

The speaker threw light on  various chemical compounds like acetic acid,carbohydrates etc.which exist in nature and can be synthesised in laboratories for the benefit of mankind.

The participants were spell bound with the indepth knowledge of the speaker on the topic .It was an interesting presentation which gave an impetus and encouragement to science students for future research.

The speaker  answered convincingly to many questions raised by the participants . 

The participants gave their valuable feedback on the Webinar and  were given

  e -certificates .

Activity  II

Skill development programme was conducted on Basic Analytical techniques through the Zoom platform for FYJC students from 6th February 2021 to 6th March  2021.

120students successfully completed the programme in ten sessions of one hour duration each . The students were shown various practical techniques adopted in performing experiments on purification of substances by different methods, analysing samples of water for hardness and checking adulterants in food samples

Activity  III

Chemofig: On 23rd April 2021 “Chemofig"a poster making competition was conducted for FYJC students through the Zoom platform at 5.00p.m.The  students expressed their creative thoughts through beautiful drawings on following topics  : Application of Adsorption and Colloids, Chemistry in everyday life and Hybridisation and bond formation.

PHYSICS  DEPARTMENT

Webinar: Professional Ethics and Principles

When thinking about ethics, mostly it is viewed as rules for difference between right and wrong. Another way of defining ethics focuses on the disciplines that study standards of conduct, such as philosophy, law, psychology or sociology.

For more enlightment on ethics and principles, a  National Webinar on “Professional Ethics and Principles” was conducted by Department of Physics (Junior College), Thakur College of Science and Commerce. This webinar was conducted on 7th August 2020, 5.00 pm, on Zoom platform. The Keynote speaker for the webinar was Mr. Ajitkumar Nambiar, Supervisor (Poorna Prajna High School) and an Author. 

Considering the number of scams and corruptions that have occurred in institutions and corporates over the past several years, it should come as no surprise that ethics in the workplace is a major concern. General ethical principles including honesty, integrity, accountability, responsibility, objectivity need to be followed.


According to the speaker, the agencies of education such as family, school and society play an important role in developing ethical and moral values among our youths.

Activity II

Department of Physics Junior College organized a four day event” Visit To Virtual Lab” from 26th April to 29th April 2021 with the objective of familiarizing the students not only with   practical physics but also explore the intricacies of concepts in Physics, thereby initiate their  journey from abstract to concrete. The students were guided to use virtual lab at Amrita which uses the state – of – the –art computer simulation technology, an initiative as part of NME-ICT and PhET. Colarado.edu simulations. Each day we could open these window of comprehending concepts to an average of 245 students.


Nature Club  ( 2020-21)

Nature Club of Thakur College of Science & Commerce (Junior College) had organized a Webinar on the topic “Various Interaction in Nature” on 19th of March 2021. The speaker, Mr. Sunil Kumar Vishwakarma, a naturalist by heart and a biology professor by profession, explained the different interactions occurring among the living organisms such as mutualism, predation, etc. The webinar was conducted on zoom platform which was attended by 100 students.

The speaker also shared some amazing fun facts related to animals and plants which had the students completed engrossed into the session.

PURPOSE OF THE EVENT: To make students aware about the Nature by showing small documentary video and discussion on the Same. 


Outcome of Event: - Due to Covid, The Webinar was conducted online Via Zoom Platform. We received active participation from both Science as well as Commerce students for webinar in Which Nearly 100 students were present. Two Documentaries were shown; one was on plastic and other on electronic waste. Students also asked doubts and shared their view on protection of environment by reducing use of plastic and adapting 3R’s – Reuse, Reduce & recycle Mantra for waste.

NAME OF THE EVENT: SPIRITUAL SPEECH BY SWAMIJI FROM                                          RAMAKRISHNA MISSION

PURPOSE OF THE EVENT: To make students aware about the importance of discipline and Truthfullness in education by the spiritual speech. 


Outcome of Event: - Due to Covid, The Webinar was conducted online Via Zoom Platform. We received active participation from both Science as well as Commerce students for webinar in Which Nearly 100 students were present. Swamiji  has motivated and inspired the students through his speech by giving various examples from our mythological stories . Students also asked doubts and shared their view on increasing the self strength and concentration for understanding, analyzing and memorizing the difficult topics in the subject.

NAME OF THE EVENT: Drugs Awareness

DATE: 3rd April 2021

TIME: 5:00 PM

PURPOSE OF THE EVENT: To make student aware about drugs. It gives Knowledge, Skill and benefits of living healthy life.

OUTCOME OF EVENT: Youth Forum Committee was conducted drugs awareness quiz on Google form. We received active participation from both science as well as commerce students for quiz in which 218 students were present. Students understand drugs addiction is expanding major issue in all over world. People often use drugs as a way for their difficulties, although drugs create its effects. Drug addiction affects not only health and relationship but also society and the environment. Drug awareness quiz include education and outreach to help student to understand that the risk of drug use.

NAME OF THE EVENT: Addiction of Internet

PURPOSE OF THE EVENT: To make students aware about the Internet Usage and its Addiction in Today generation with Various side effects by showing small documentary video and discussion on the Same. 


Outcome of Event: - Due to Covid, The Webinar was conducted online Via Zoom Platform. We received active participation from both Science as well as Commerce students for webinar in Which Nearly 100 students were present. One Documentary Video was shownon Internet Addiction. Students also asked doubts and shared their view on Various Online Games Like PUBG, Blue Whale etc.. All the students were of point , That Such games or Excessive Usage have adverse effects of Skill , Knowledge and functioning of Brain.


SCIENCE EXHIBITION

2020-2021

Science Association of Junior College has organized Science Exhibition 2020-2021. “CONTRIBUTION OF TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION IN SCIENCE FOR AATMANIRBHAR BHARAT” was the theme of the exhibition. Total 26 exhibits have been shown by FYJC students on zoom platform on 1st April, 2021 at 5:30 P.M. TO 8.30 P.M. Out of 26 Exhibits 9 were Non-working model and 17 were working. The exhibition was judged by Dr. GiteshPadhye, Dr. C. P. Shukla and Dr. Sanjay Shukla. 

“Automatic irrigation system”, “Li-Fi technology”, “Aita- an A.I. Assistant” are winning working model and for non – working model “Women safety”, “Application of Mathematics in stock market”, Covid Vaccine are winner.
