Theme: National Youth Day

Name of Activity: Class to class promotion on The Teachings of Swami Vivekananda

Details of Activity

In celebration of National Youth Day, commemorated on 12th January every year to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Swami Vivekananda Association organized a unique and inspiring activity – class-to-class promotion of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and philosophies.

A group of selected student volunteers visited each classroom of Degree College, delivering short yet impactful sessions on various aspects of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. The themes included:

  • The importance of self-confidence and inner strength

  • Service to humanity as the noblest goal

  • The role of education in character building

  • The message of unity and universal brotherhood

  • The call to youth: “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached

The sessions were interactive and included quotes, real-life applications, anecdotes from Swami Vivekananda’s life and brief reflections by students. Many students also presented posters and charts depicting his messages and philosophies. 

Teachers encouraged discussions after each presentation to help students connect the messages to their own lives and aspirations. The initiative aimed not only to educate but also to inspire students to imbibe these timeless values in their personal and academic journey.

Outcome:
The class-to-class initiative created a ripple of enthusiasm, reflection and motivation throughout the college. It fostered a deeper understanding of Swami Vivekananda’s vision and its relevance in today’s world, leaving a lasting impression on young minds.

                                     

National Youth Day 


Theme: Visit to Ramakrishna Mission, Khar

Name of Activity: VIVEKA Workshop (Human Excellence Development Programme)

Details of Activity

As part of the observance of National Youth Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Viveka Workshop was organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, for college students and Faculty Members. Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnanji was the Chief Guest. The first session of the workshop was titled “Yoga, Vitality and Youth – The Swami Vivekananda Way” was led by Swami Dayadhipananda, a renowned monk of the Ramakrishna Mission, known for his dynamic talks on youth empowerment and yogic living.

During the interactive session, Swami Dayadhipananda delved into the philosophy of Yoga as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda, focusing on its role in building:

  • Mental strength and clarity

  • Physical vitality and discipline

  • Moral integrity and self-confidence

  • Spiritual awareness and inner peace

He highlighted Swami Vivekananda's belief that "Strength is life, weakness is death", and explained how Yoga—when practiced with dedication and purpose—could help young individuals harness their inner potential, face life’s challenges boldly, and develop leadership qualities rooted in values.

The workshop included:

  • Guided breathing techniques and simple yoga postures

  • Discussion on the four yogas (Karma, Bhakti, Raja, and Jnana)

  • Real-life examples of youth transformation through yogic living

  • A Q&A session, where students asked insightful questions related to stress, focus, and the spiritual path and self-reflection, stressing that true education is not just about acquiring information but about developing strength of character and clarity of thought.

In the second session a movie on Swami Vivekananda at the World Parliament of religions was shown and an insightful lecture was delivered by Dr. V. Srinivas. Then a workshop on Power of Decision Making was led by Shri Harish Dhyani. a distinguished motivational speaker and life skills trainer, known for his impactful sessions with youth and professionals alike.

He highlighted the importance of decision-making abilities in shaping one’s academic and personal success. He captivated the audience with his energetic and relatable presentation. Using real-life examples, storytelling, interactive exercises and thought-provoking questions, he addressed key aspects of decision making such as:

  • Understanding the importance of timely and informed decisions

  • Differentiating between impulsive and intentional choices

  • The role of clarity, confidence, and self-awareness

  • Techniques to analyse situations, evaluate options, and foresee consequences

  • Overcoming fear of failure and trusting one’s instincts

Shri Dhyani also emphasized the value of values-based decision making, encouraging students to make choices aligned with integrity, responsibility and long-term goals. His message, “Every decision you make today defines the direction of your tomorrow,” resonated deeply with the participants.

Outcome:
The workshops was highly appreciated by both students and teachers. It provided a clear framework for making thoughtful, confident decisions in academics, relationships and future career paths. Students found the session insightful, motivational and relevant to real-life situations. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a newfound sense of clarity and direction. The workshops left a deep impact on the students and staff. Participants expressed feeling both energized and inspired. Many students resolved to incorporate basic yogic practices into their routines and follow the teachings of Swami Vivekananda in their personal growth journeys. 

        

Visit to Ramkrishna Mission, Khar 


Theme: Book Exhibition

Name of Activity: Book Exhibition – Teachings & Philosophies of Swami Vivekananda

Date: 10th & 11th March, 2025

Time: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Venue: Gangway, Ground Floor

Details of Activity

A Book Exhibition was organized in the Gangway on the ground floor for all the learners of TCSC. The exhibition was centred around the life, teachings and philosophies of Swami Vivekananda, aiming to inspire students and staff through his timeless wisdom. 

The collection included a wide range of books and publications such as:

  • The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda

  • Inspired Talks

  • Letters of Swami Vivekananda

  • Biographies, essays and simplified versions for young readers

  • Illustrated storybooks and inspirational quote collections

Posters displaying his famous quotes were placed throughout the venue. Students were encouraged to read excerpts, write reflections and even recommend books to their peers.

Teachers and volunteers guided the students in exploring the books, sparking meaningful discussions about character, courage, service and the true purpose of education—core aspects of Swami Vivekananda’s vision.

Outcome:
The exhibition was met with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike. It succeeded in igniting curiosity and admiration for Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. Many students expressed interest in borrowing the books for deeper reading and some even pledged to incorporate his principles into their daily lives.

The Book Exhibition proved to be not only informative but also deeply inspiring, making it a fitting tribute to the legacy of Swami Vivekananda.

Theme: Offline Quiz Competition 

Name of Activity: Quiz Competition of Life Journey of Swami Vivekananda

The Swami Vivekananda Committee of TCSC successfully organized an Intra-college quiz competition. The event aimed to promote knowledge and awareness about Swami Vivekananda, the principles of Swami Vivekananda among the students, fostering holistic development and a sense of purpose, Swamiji ideas and Philosophy, Swami Vivekananda's teachings, emphasizing self-realization, service to humanity, and the pursuit of knowledge, that highly relevant in the contemporary educational context. The event Witnessed a significant rise in students' awareness of Swami Vivekananda's teachings, Students expressed a greater interest in exploring the philosophical aspects of their education.

It also focused on fostering healthy competition, and encourage students to engage in learning outside the classroom. It was an intellectually stimulating event that witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. Students showed great enthusiasm, and the audience was equally engaged. The quiz was not only a competition but also a great learning experience for everyone involved. 

The quiz competition was divided into three rounds:

  1. Video Screening: A video of 20.23 minutes on journey of Swami Ji from Narendra to Vivekananda was screened.

  2. Semi-Final Round: A question sheet containing 10 questions based on journey of Swami Ji was asked to solve in time period of 10 minutes

  3. Final Round: Question are asked to each group of learners and learners need to answer with 1 minute or it will pass to next group.

Theme: Book Review Competition

Details of Activity

Swami Vivekananda Association has organized a book review competition “SARANSH” on 10th December 2024 for degree learners of TCSC. 88 learners had participated in SARANSH. The activity was focused to create awareness about the teaching and philosophies of Swami Vivekananda among the learners. Through this activity the Association also tried to improvise the reading, writing, Communication, Paraphrasing and analytical thinking of learners, that will enable to perform comparatively better in academic and professional examinations. The activity was judged by Dr. Rakhi Bhattacharya & Suchandana Dutta. Each participant is allowed to express their reviews in maximum time of five minutes and they were judged on the basis of Content, Delivery of Matter, Presentation Skill, Confidence and clarity of matter.
