DLLE has been recognized as a statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. In the academic year 2023-24, a total of 170 learners registered for various DLLE projects like Annapurna Yojana (APY), Survey Research (SR), Population Education Club (PEC), Education For All (EFA), Career Project (CP) and Industry Oriented Project (IOP) in Thakur College.
First term training program of DLLE was conducted on 16th September, 2023, in which 149 learners participated. Dr. Vijay Patil, University field coordinator of DLLE, guided DLLE learners about how to conduct activities of DLLE projects in this training.
Street plays on Women Empowerment & Cyber Crime were conducted on 26th & 27th September 2023 at Ganpati Pandals in Kandivali by 24 PEC students.
Breast Cancer Awareness Program was conducted by Dr Daxa Thakkar (Junior Clinical Coordinator, Asian Cancer Institute, Mumbai) on 27th Oct 2023 to spread awareness about breast cancer early symptoms, diagnosis & treatment. In this program 129 students and 33 staff members participated.
PEC students conducted Public Awareness on Banking Procedures on 6th,7th and 8th November 2023 to enhance financial literacy in Borivali and Kandivali area. Total 29 students of PEC participated in it.
Quiz on Water conservation was conducted for all DLLE registered learners in Thakur College on 9th November 2023 in which 89 students participated.
Poster making competition was organized for all DLLE learners on 10th November 2023. The topics for poster making were Gender equality, Ocean cleanup, Water conservation & Green Transportation. Total 60 students participated in the event.
On 2ND December 2023, Awareness Program on Advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones and importance of millets was conducted by 14 EFA students, at Samata Vidya Mandir-Kandivali-E.
On 15th December 2023, 14 students of EFA conducted street play to spread awareness on Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) in college campus.
On 19th December 2023, PPT Making competition was conducted on the topic- Different Tribes of India in which, 20 EFA students participated.
On 28th December, 2023 PEC learners visited Vimaltidevi Old Age Home at Gorai, Borivali (west) to understand the challenges and joys faced by the elderly residents & to understand the importance of compassion, empathy, and respect for the elderly people.
DLLE Unit of Thakur College of Science & Commerce organized voter’s awareness program in college campus from 27th to 29th January 2024 by setting help desk and going to classrooms in which 119 DLLE registered students participated.
Road Safety Awareness Program was organized on 30th January 2024 near traffic signals at Mahindra and Mahindra Co. Circle, Kandivali (E) to spread awareness about road safety rules to common people in which 121 DLLE students participated.
The Department of Life Long Learning & Extension (DLLE) unit of Thakur College of science & commerce organized a comprehensive Waste Management Awareness Drive from February 1st to February 7th, 2024, aimed at fostering sustainable garbage disposal practices. Total 118 DLLE students participated in it.
Guest lecture on Team Building & Leadership was organized by DLLE & Zoology departments on 3rd February 2024. Resource person for the event was Dr. Ajay Brahmbhatt, HR Manager, Siemens Limited, Mumbai (also student manager of 2011-12 batch).
Students registered for Annapurna Yojana of DLLE, visited Daya Vihar Ashram at Malwani, Malad (W) on 3rd February 2024. Students saved money from their sales of foods and contributed to buy groceries & snacks for children.
Industrial visit of IOP students was conducted to DSG Group, a prominent residential construction business at Borivali East on 21st February 2024, in order to understand various aspects of business, like profit margin analysis, outsourcing practices, etc.
Second term training program was conducted on 28th Feb 24 in which 131 DLLE students participated. DLLE field coordinator Dr. Vijay Patil was the resource person for this training.
C.D. Disaster management program was conducted by Mr. Bhushan Padhare, Assistant Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Home Dept, Govt. of Maharashtra in this event he explained students the steps to be taken for saving lives of people, in case of natural calamities like earthquake, flood and fire. Total 128 DLLE students participated in it.
Career Fair was organized for CP students on 2nd March 2024, in which students displayed Posters on various career opportunities across diverse fields.
