DLLE has been recognized as a statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. In the academic year 2024-25, a total of 226 learners registered for various DLLE projects like Annapurna Yojana (APY), Survey Research (SR), Population Education Club (PEC), Education For All (EFA), Career Project (CP) and Industry Oriented Project (IOP) in Thakur College.
Street play on anti-drugs was organized on 14th September 2024, at two Ganapati Pandals at Carter Road no. 4. Borivali east, by 31 PEC students to educate the public, especially the youth about the dangers of drug abuse.
On 25th September 2024, Quiz competition was organized on the topics diet & health & balanced diet for all the registered DLLE students in which 199 students participated.
First term training program of DLLE was conducted on 25th September, 2024, in which 212 learners participated. In this training program, Dr. Vijay Patil, University field coordinator of DLLE, guided DLLE learners about how to conduct activities of DLLE projects.
On 28th October 2024 , a group of 24 EFA students performed a street play on NIOS and IDOL at various public places in Mumbai. The students were divided into 8-9 subgroups and performed at Samta Nagar Bus Depot, Dream Park, Singh Estate, and Poisar Metro Station.
A Rally was organized for Voter’s Awareness by DLLE unit of Thakur college in Samata Nagar area of Kandivali East on 14th November 2025, to encourage eligible voters to vote in upcoming elections and to inform common people about importance of right to vote as well as to empower community with knowledge about the electoral process. Total 145 students participated in it.
On 15th November 2024, a seminar on the need and importance of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) was conducted at the NIOS centre at Malad West. Organized by EFA, the session was attended by 18 students from EFA. Esteemed lecturer Neelam Rajesh Tupe provided insights into the significance of NIOS in flexible and inclusive education. The seminar aimed to help students understand NIOS’s role in alternative education, explore its benefits for those unable to attend regular schools, and discuss the advantages of open schooling.
DLLE organized a Voting Pledge Activity in classrooms on 16th November 2024. On this day, Degree college students of Thakur College took pledge to vote compulsorily and to encourage their family members and friends to vote in the upcoming election on 20th November 2024.
On 18th November 2024, class to class awareness program was conducted by DLLE students to ensure that the students, faculty and staff are aware of their voting rights and the importance of participating in the elections.
DLLE in collaboration with NSS Unit of Thakur College organized celebration of 75th Anniversary of Constitutional Day. This day was celebrated by mass reading of preamble on 26th November 2024, in which students of various classes of degree college participated. The activity was conducted in classrooms and laboratories.

DLLE unit of Thakur College organized poster making competition on the topic Waste Management: Segregation of Waste at Source” on 12th December 2024. Total 123 registered DLLE students participated in the competition
On 27th December 2024 To 29th December 2024, a group of 24 EFA students from Thakur college of science and commerce performed a street play on NIOS and IDOL at various public places in Mumbai. The students were divided into 8-9 subgroups and performed at Samta Nagar Bus Depot, Dream Park, Singh Estate, and Poisar Metro Station,etc.
EFA students conducted a survey from 15th January 2025 to 2nd February 2025 to assess the awareness and understanding of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) among families residing in slum areas of Borivali, Vasai, and Kandivali. Each participating student surveyed 50 families, gathering insights into their knowledge, perceptions, and potential interest in these alternative education systems. Total 19 students participated in it.
PEC students participated in community awareness activity on cybercrime awareness & Awareness on HMPV Virus Myths & Facts on 12th January 2025, in which 32 PEC students participated to raise awareness about the growing threats of cybercrime including common forms such as hacking, identity theft, phishing and online fraud and about Myths and Facts of HMPV Virus in different areas of Mumbai.
Beach cleaning activity was conducted by 31 PEC students of Thakur College, on Juhu beach on 31st January 2025.
A poster exhibition “Career Fair” was organized by DLLE unit of TCSC on 6th February, 2025 in which the 35 CP students displayed posters showing information on their chosen career field. Information on diverse careers such as medicine, Pharma, Aeronautical, Data Science, nursing, biotechnology, Web designee, CA, CFA, Charted Accountants, Ethical Hackers, Jobs in armed forces and MBA was displayed.
Annual Festival “UDAAN the Flight of Extension-2025” was conducted on 10th February 2025 at KES, B.K. Shroff College of Arts and M.H. Shroff College of Commerce, (Autonomous), Kandivali (W). students of Thakur College participated in various competitions and our student Mr, Darshit Yadav secured 2nd rank in Elocution competition.
Road safety awareness drive was conducted by DLLE unit of Thakur College of Science & Commerce on 20th February 2025, to spread awareness about traffic rules and safe driving among people. Total 112 registered learners of DLLE participated in the Rally carried in Thakur Village upto Mahindra and Mahindra Co. signal. Students distributed colourful paper aeroplanes with road safety slogans written on them, to rickshaw drivers, bike-riders as well as truck and bus drivers.
‘Nutrifest-2025’, the Cooking Competition on Fireless healthy cooking was organized by DLLE unit on 7th March 20025, in which 36 students participated & prepared wide variety of healthy snacks.
Students registered for Annapurna Yojana of DLLE, visited Daya Vihar Ashram at Malwani, Malad (W) on 8th March 2025. Students saved money from their sales of foods and contributed to buy groceries like rice, dal, cooking oil, wheat flour, sugar, etc & snacks for children.
A poster making competition on NIOS, IDOL, and Distance Learning was held on 10th March 2025 to raise awareness about alternative education systems. Twenty three EFA students participated, showcasing their creativity and understanding of these flexible learning options through visually engaging posters.
An essay competition on NIOS, IDOL, and Distance Learning was held on 12th March 2025, to raise awareness about alternative education systems. Total 25 students participated, showcasing their knowledge and analytical skills through well-structured, handwritten essays.
On 13th March 2025, second term training program for all DLLE students was conducted in collaboration with Thakur College of Engineering and Technology & Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research . During this training, University Field Coordinator, Dr. Vijay Patil sir gave valuable guidance on completion of DLLE project books.
Industrial visit was organized on 15th March 2025 for IOP students to DGS Seetal Uptown, a real estate and infrastructure industry near Hanuman Mandir, Borivali west. In this visit 11 IOP students participated to understand the working process and operational strategies as well as opportunities in this industry.
