Student Council Events of academic year 2020-2021



This year was different from other years for Students’ Council. The pandemic and resulting lockdown were definitely a dampener but nothing could suppress indomitable spirit of our young learners. So, we delve into action from the remote confine of our home and started with the selection of Lady Representatives, formation of Council followed by election of our GS and JS in  the beginning of the new academic year. Once the council was made planning for different activities started and due to lack of physical proximity it was decided to have an Instagram account of the Council itself where students can showcase their talent and we can also reach out to a huge crowd present in the social media. This year we introduced a new event LIVEMINT to discuss and debate on current affairs and important topic from time to time. The activities conducted in Students Council this year are as follows:


  1. Christmas Fervour : 25th December 2020: this was an online event conducted to celebrate Christmas. Here students were urged to upload Christmas themed images, Christmas decoration of their own Christmas tree at home and tagged Students’ Council Instagram Page. 


 





  1. Mr. and Ms. Thakur, the most sought after event of the college was organised on  30th January 2021. Prof. Mr. Amjad Sayed;, Mr.Rahul Thakker and Mrs. Brijal Thakker were invited to judge the event. The event was conducted in three rounds.

   Winners of the event were: 

Mr thakur : Yash mishra - Fybmm B

Miss Thakur :  Jyoti Choudhary - Fybammc C

Runner up Miss Neha Jha - BMS

Runner up Mister Sanjog Chopra- Bs.CS



 


  1. Chocolate Day was celebrated on 14th Feb 2021.  Students were asked to order online which were then catered to by our students who were bakers and chocolatiers.   Cakemeawaybyvira - Virajita Chigullapally( BSc CS) registered herself as a baker and Elite chocolates - Kajol Jain (BMS) registered herself as chocolatier.


  1. LIVEMINT: This year STUDENTS’ COUNCIL introduced LIVEMINT- a series of event to discuss current affairs and students view on various burning topics. The students are asked to gather news under following heads like economic, political, social, technological, sports and world news. The news collected under different heads  are read out and then discussed.

  LIVEMINT 1  : 23rd Feb 2021

The first LIVEMINT was conducted on zoom platform. The teacher in charge for the event was Mr Ashish Richariya and Student In charge was Mr Purav Parikh. 17 students participated in the event.


     

LIVEMINT 2 :

Second LIVEMINT was conducted on 10th March, 2021 under supervision of Teacher In charge Pradeep Prajapati. The student in charge was Parth Sarvaiya. The event started with reading of news in various areas followed by discussion and debate with participants.  65 students participated in the event.   


 


LIVEMINT 3 : 

Third LIVEMINT was conducted on 25th March, 2021 under supervision of Teacher In Charge Jyotsna Anthal. The student in charge was Madhu Ramasamy. The event was participated by 62 students.

 

  1. A WEBINAR  was organised on 25th Feb, 2021 on MENTAL WELLBEING DURING PANDEMIC on zoom platform. Dr Purvi Jadav, a clinical psychologist was invited as a speaker. She spoke about importance of realistic goals and importance of positive thinking. There were 206 participants in the event. The event was very motivating for the students and they responded very positively towards it.

   


6. TRADITIONAL DAY 

The Students' Council of Thakur College of Science and Commerce conducted an online Traditional day Competition on the 25th February 2021.  32 Students from different departments participated in the event. Students took photographs wearing traditional outfits and portrayed their culture by dancing, singing and acting in a short video. The entries were uploaded on the Instagram page of the Students Council. They were judged on the basis of content and likes. 

The winners for this competition were

1. Dharni Multani from Bsc CBZ got the 1st position

2. Sakshi Billimoria from  Bmm got the 2nd position

3. Krisha Deora from Science got the 3rd position

     

  1. YOUTH PARLIAMENT

The Students’ Council  organised Youth Parliament 2020-2021 on, 12th April 2021. It is a simulation of Parliamentary activities where both ruling and opposition parties’ debate over the topics decided by the organiser. The objectives of the event is  to strengthen the roots of Parliamentary democracy, develop tolerance of the views of others and to enable the students to present their views in an organised manner. The three topics for discussion  this year were:1. Justification of farmer’s bill 2. Censorship of OTT content 3. Battery operated vehicle- Future Of India. Rama Ray from BC department were invited to judge the event.Good speakers were selected as follows
