Student Council Events of academic year 2021-2022


STUDENTS’ COUNCIL- ACADEMIC YEAR 2021-2022

 Students’ Council underwent a transition from online to offline this year. After conducting activities remotely for one full year, Students Council got into action with all enthusiasm. The year started with Principal madam nominating Lady representatives of the college and academic topper coming together to form a council. GS was elected from among the members. Once the council was formed, planning for different activities started. Social media page was updated from time to time so that the council can reach out to more and more students. Our most popular and awaited event, YOUTH PARLIAMENT and LIVEMINT was conducted with a lot of zeal. Students discussed, debated and deliberated on a lot of topics and honed their communication skills. The activities conducted in Students Council this year are as follows:


LIVEMINT: This year STUDENTS’ COUNCIL continued LIVEMINT- a series of event to discuss current affairs and students view on various burning topics.

 

Livemint 1 : 11th December 2021


 

On 3/02/2022, the first LIVEMINT of the year was organized by the Students’ Council of Thakur College of Science and Commerce. The Student In charge was Ms Divya Deora. 60 students participated in the event. LIVEMINT provides a platform to the students to discuss and debate on current affairs and express their opinion on various events around them. Debating, discussing and deliberating is the backbone of democracy and we encourage students to do the same using this platform. The event was planned and executed by the students of BSc IT and BSc CS department. The points highlighted in the event were:

 Crypto currency

Surrogacy 

Marital Rape

Russian invasion and whom should India support etc.

The students gathered news from newspaper and other medium under following heads like economic, political, social, technological, sports, entertainment and world news and discussed and deliberated on them.

Livemint 2 : 

    

Second LIVEMINT was conducted on 3rd Jan, 2022 under supervision of  student In charge LR Satakshi Singh. The event started with reading of news in various areas followed by discussion and debate with participants. 65 students participated in the event.

Chocolate making event-  

 

As a part of skill enhancement, on 21st December, 2021 Students’ Council conducted a workshop on chocolate making for the students of Thakur College of Science and Commerce. Kajol Gala, alumni of our college was invited to conduct this workshop. She has been making chocolates for last 3 years and has turned her hobby of making chocolates into fulltime online business. The students registered for this workshop by paying Rs 30. Students were taught to make three kind of chocolates and were also briefed about importance of packaging. The session was appreciated by all. More than 25 students participated in this event.


 

SECRET SANTA

   

 This year Christmas was celebrated on 23rd  Dec, 2021 offline, in the open quadrangle behind the college from 11am to 1pm. All student who wanted to participate got a gift of not more than Rs 50 and received a gift from any anonymous student in return. An interesting part of this event was that every student had to attach a small note to their present. Both degree and junior college participated in the event and it was liked and enjoyed by all.


Traditional Day:-


   


The Student Council of Thakur College of Science and Commerce conducted an online Traditional day Competition on the 28th January 2022. 40 Students from different departments participated in the event. Students took photographs wearing traditional outfits and portrayed their culture by dancing, singing and acting in a short video. The entries were uploaded on the Instagram page of the Students Council. They were judged on the basis of content and likes.

The winners for this competition were

1. Ms Pankti Patel from SYBAF got the 1 st position

2. Ms Anjali Pandey from SYBFM got the 2 nd position

3. Ms Apurva Chawrasiya from TYBCOM got the 3 rd position


GUEST LECTURE

       


A WEBINAR on ‘Understanding emotions, recognize, validate and take control’ was organised on 22nd Feb, 2022 on zoom platform. Mrs Purvi Jadav, a clinical psychologist was invited as a speaker. She spoke about importance of realistic goals and power of positive thinking. There were 116 participants in the event. All the students keenly listened to her lecture and was hugely benefitted.



Mr. and Ms. Thakur 


   

Mr and Miss Thakur is one of the most awaited event in TCSC which recognises students with all round personality. On 23rd Dec, 2021 Mr and Miss Thakur 2021-2022 was conducted in the auditorium of the college. Mr and Miss Fresher of each department participated in the competition. The program started with each participants introducing themselves followed by talent round and question and answer. Raksha Sharma and Priyal Shah, former lady representatives of the college were called to judge the event.   

In total there were 24 participants (12 female and 12 male) 

The show ended with the declaration of 

 Jahnavi Jhingan from BMS as Miss Thakur and  Gauransh Chauhan from BMM as Mr Thakur. Dhriti Pandey and Omkar from Bsc IT were declared runners up of the event.

YOUTH PARLIAMENT

 

   

The most popular event of Students’ Council, Youth Parliament 2020-2021 was held on 5th March, 2022. It is a simulation of Parliamentary activities where both ruling and opposition parties’ debate over the topics decided by the organiser. The objectives of the event are to strengthen the roots of Parliamentary democracy, develop tolerance of the views of others and to enable the students to present their views in an organised manner. The three topics for discussion this year were:

  1. Is Bitcoin; NFT future of our country

  2.  AFSPA, is it killing democracy 

  3. Indian students stuck in Ukraine, is our education system responsible.
