STUDENTS’ COUNCIL – ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025
The Student Council commenced the academic year with the formation of the council. All academic toppers from various departments were automatically made part of the council. The nominees from sports, NSS, NCC, and cultural were also made part of the same. Lady representatives were nominated by the head of the institution who became part of the council as well. Students who were not interested to associate with the council gave their NOC to the second topper. Formation of the council was followed by the General Secretary Election, a pivotal event that set the foundation for student leadership. Mr Amol Patil was elected as the General Secretary of the year by the members.
The election process was conducted democratically, with nominees presenting their vision and commitment towards fostering student engagement and institutional growth. Campaigning was marked by interactive sessions, speeches, and student discussions, ensuring a fair and informed voting process.
With the formation of the council, the year was set in motion with a strong emphasis on leadership and student participation. Throughout the year, the council organized impactful events, upholding students’ welfare, and created a thriving academic and extracurricular environment.
1.Formation of T.R.I.B.E.
To enhance student involvement and leadership, the Student Council introduced T.R.I.B.E. (Talented, Resilient, Innovative, Bright & Energetic). This initiative brought together a team of student Class Ambassadors who worked closely with the council, ensuring better communication and participation in college activities. Each ambassador is expected to actively engage in various events, fostering a culture of teamwork, innovation, and holistic development. The formation of T.R.I.B.E. marks a significant step in creating a more dynamic and inclusive student community.
2.Cake and Cookies Day
Day & Date: Friday, 30th August 2024
Time: 09:00 a.m. onwards
Venue: Gangway (Behind Canteen) / Inner Quadrangle
To add a fun and delicious twist to student activities, the Student Council organized Cake and Cookies Day, where students showcased their baking skills. Participants set up stalls, offering a variety of homemade cakes and cookies. The event was a delightful experience, fostering creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurship among students.

3. Plastic Awareness Drive 2024-25
Date: Monday, 2nd September 2024
Durations: 3 days
The Plastic Awareness Drive was organized to educate students about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and promote sustainable alternatives. Over three days, student volunteers from the Student Council and TRIBE visited classrooms to raise awareness through informative announcements and interactive discussions. They shared important facts about plastic waste and encouraged students to minimize single-use plastic by adopting eco-friendly habits. The drive aimed to inspire small yet meaningful steps towards sustainability by emphasizing the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling plastic.
4.Youth Parliament - I
Date: Thursday, 19th September 2024
Venue: Dev Prabhakar Shastri Studio (7th Floor)
The Youth Parliament was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The event began at 10:30 a.m. with a total of 56 participants engaging in thought-provoking discussions. The session was led by Speaker Vishesh Naik, who guided students through structured debates on critical socio-political issues.
The two key topics discussed were:
1. Laws for Violation against Women Dignity Need Revise
2. Support & Training for Sports in India is Sufficient Enough
The event provided students with an opportunity to express their perspectives, analyze policies, and propose solutions. Through this platform, participants enhanced their understanding of governance, lawmaking, and the democratic process.
5. Guest lecture
A Guest Lecture on Cyber Security in the Digital Era was conducted for degree college learners on Friday, 22nd November 2024, from 10:00 PM onwards at Seminar Hall, 1st Floor. The session was delivered by Dr. Suresh A. Shah, a renowned social activist. The lecture aimed to educate students about the growing cyber threats, digital safety measures, and responsible online behavior. A total of 236 students attended this insightful session, gaining valuable knowledge about safeguarding personal and professional data in the evolving digital landscape.
6. Livemint 24-25

This session focused on discussions, news analysis, debates, and exchanging views on current events happening in the country and around the world. A total of 60 students actively participated, engaging in insightful conversations and broadening their perspectives on various topics.
7. Mr. and Miss Thakur 24-25
Date: Thursday, 12th December, 2024
Time: 10:00 AM onwards
Venue: Auditorium
The Mr. and Miss Thakur competition was held on Thursday, 12th December 2024, at 10:00 AM onwards in the Auditorium, 7th Floor. The event aimed to showcase students' confidence, talent, and presence of mind through a three-round competition. The first round consisted of a walk and introduction, where participants introduced themselves with style. The second round, the talent round, gave participants a platform to display their unique skills. Finally, in the third round, the question and answer segment tested their wit and presence of mind.The event was judged by Alumni and former Lady Representative Srushti Kamble, who provided valuable insights and encouragement to the participants.
A total of 22 participants; 11 male and 11 female represented various departments such as Animation, BMS, BAF, B.Com, IT, and others, making the event a diverse and competitive affair. After a tough contest, the winners were announced:

8. Christmas Fervour
Date: Tuesday, 17th December 2024

Venue: Quadrangle and Gangway
The Students' Council successfully organized a festive event, 'Christmas Fervour', on Tuesday, 17th December 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Inner Quadrangle. The event embraced the color theme of red and white, spreading the joy and spirit of Christmas among students and faculty members.
As part of the celebrations, students set up stalls showcasing their entrepreneurial skills, offering a variety of products such as mocktails, handmade candles, chaat, sandwiches,nachos, cupcakes, cakes, and cookies. The event also featured exciting game stalls managed by the Students' Council members, including activities like dart games, basketball, and Throw the Ring.
9. Traditional day
The Traditional Day was celebrated on Friday, 10th January 2025, with great enthusiasm and cultural pride. Students embraced their heritage by dressing in traditional attire, representing the diverse cultures of India. The event aimed to promote unity in diversity and encourage students to take pride in their roots. The campus was filled with vibrant colors, elegant ethnic wear, and a festive atmosphere. Students participated in various activities, capturing the essence of cultural traditions through music, dance, and group photographs. The event successfully fostered a spirit of inclusivity and celebration among students.
10. Youth Parliament - II
The Youth Parliament - II was successfully conducted on Monday, 10th March 2025, at 10:30 AM onwards in the Auditorium, 7th Floor. This session provided students with a platform to express their opinions, engage in critical discussions, and understand the workings of a parliamentary debate. The event witnessed 64 participants, each bringing their unique perspectives to the debate.
The session was presided over by Speaker Vishesh Naik, who guided the participants throughout the discussions. The two key topics discussed were:
1. AI in Our Everyday Life: Is It a Boon or Bane? – Addressing the growing influence of artificial intelligence and debating its benefits and risks.
2. India, the Third Largest Economy! A Milestone or Mirage? – Evaluating India’s economic growth and whether it is truly a significant achievement or just an illusions

The event encouraged analytical thinking, structured debate, and a deeper understanding of national and global issues, making it a highly engaging and insightful experience for all participants.
11. PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP AND NATURE TRAIL TO SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK
To create awareness among the students and make them knowledgeable regarding the biodiversity, museum specimen, Student Council, TCSC in collaboration with BioVision Charitable Trust, organized Nature Trail to Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) on 06/Feb./2025. Total 32 students of various department like B. Sc. Professional Science IT, DS, CS. Students from B. Sc. Plain science like Botany, Zoology, Physics, Maths and Chemistry and Bachler of Finance Management (BFM) were actively participated in the nature trail. The collaborative spirit reflected a shared commitment to making a positive impact on environment. The SGNP plays a vital role in raising awareness about conservation issues and promoting sustainable practices. 40 students participated in this Bio visit and were hugely benefited.

11. Being Generous
The Students' Council of Thakur College of Science and Commerce organized a heartfelt Donation Drive, titled "Being Generous", on 11th and 12th March 2025. The initiative aimed to support underprivileged children by collecting essential items for the Touch Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need.
Students and faculty actively participated by donating pens, pencils, books, rice, sugar, clothes, and other necessary supplies. The overwhelming response from the college community showcased the spirit of kindness and generosity. The event not only provided valuable resources to the children but also instilled a sense of social responsibility and empathy among the participants.
12. BEST BOY AND BEST GIRL
Students Council is bestowed with the responsibility of choosing BEST BOY AND BEST GIRL for the Academic year. Every year Judges from outside colleges are invited to make the selection. This year too Dr A K Singh, Principal of Ramnarayan College of Law, Dr P Kakkad, Vice Principal of Thakur College of Architecture and Vice Chairperson of our PTA Ms Shrushti Goel was invited to select BEST BOY AND BEST GIRLon 11th April.2025. After rigorous interview Somesh Mishra from Biotechnology was declared BEST BOY and Rashmi Tiwari from BSc(DS) was declared BEST GIRL.
