Taarangan 2019-2020
Months of prior preparation, hours of dedication and countless moments to savor for the archives culminated on 12th and 13th December, 2019 welcoming the 12th Year of Thakur College of Science and Commerce's Annual Cultural Festival – “Taarangan-Bringing Stars to Life". The theme for this year was "Barah Ka Para- #Everything12 to commemorate 12 years of grandeur, glory and accomplishment that the festival has garnered with an apt tagline #dozenyearsofmemories.
The Inauguration Ceremony witnessed jubilant roar and applause with the Chief Guests and prominent faces of the Indian Television, Mr. Anang Desai and Mr. Arun Bakshi striking the gong to declare the fest open. More than 2400 students from 128 colleges across Mumbai participated in exciting events scheduled over the two days, giving each one an opportunity to embrace and showcase the kind of talent they possessed.
Participants actively competed in the field of sports, gaming, performing arts, fine arts & literary arts through the events like Box Cricket, CS GO, Solo Singing, Group Dance and Fashion Show on Day one. Bollywood Actor, Mr. Shreyas Talpade made a special guest appearance and interacted with the frenzied crowd drenching the atmosphere with smiles and cheers. Famous playback singer, Ms. Tulsi Kumar set a jocund mood in the evening with her melodious singing leaving the crowd swaying to the captivating runes and drawing a close to Day 1 on a high note.
Day 2 commenced fashionably with flair and style with events like fashion show, street dance, beat boxing and stand-up comedy which kept the audience on their toes. Challenging mind fest events on investments, journalism, stocks and ultimate plan B tested the intelligence & imagination of the participants. An influx of celebrities graced the stage with their eminent presence with noted Playback Singer, Ms. Sunanda Sharma giving a rendition of her song 'Duji Vaar Pyaar'. The stage was braced and set on fire in the evening, as Special Guest and Actor Jackky Bhagnani stepped up with TCSC Alumni Mudassar Khan and enthralled the audience with their new song.
The dynamic DJ Duo Project 91 took the stage making the audience groove to their beats. The audience welcomed noted Director Ms. Divya Khosla Kumar amidst roar and applause while she held the audience spellbound with her enthralling performance. The Day concluded with an energetic & splendid performance by Mr. Jigar Rajpopat and his team as they fused billboard hits with the Indian tunes of Dhol and Tasha leaving the audience in an energetic and enchanted state of mind.
Finally, came the moment of decision, victories, celebrations and better luck for the times to come. The Colleges bagging the podium spots were Mithibai College - New York (Best College), S.K. Somaiya College- Tiger (1st Runners-Up) and St. Andrews College- Metatron (2nd Runners-Up). Taarangan, as promised, brought stars to life making them shine and raising the bar like never before.
