TCSC- Students & Staff Holistic Arise Program Expedition

SHAPE is a single window that provides a wide range of services to students. It includes a variety of components aimed at nurturing the intellectual, emotional, social, physical and creative aspects of students.
It includes:
Academic Support - It provides support to vernacular medium students in coping with the academics of the English medium programs. Special classes to understand and interpret the subject and conversations in English. Students are given special training to communicate in English, this assists them during placements and higher education. Various personality enhancement programs are organised throughout the year to groom students skills for employment prospects.
Student Support Program for Study Abroad. – The College has tie-ups with reputed
Universities in Canada, U.S.A. and Australia for students higher education. This program allows students to study two years Undergraduate level in TCSC and graduation year at foreign Universities. The students are oriented about foreign education and career enhancement abroad.
Emotional Support & Life Skills – Counselling services, peer support groups and mental health resources to address emotional well-being. Guest Lectures and workshops are organised to address and strengthen emotional wellbeing of the students. Workshops on time management, financial literacy and career planning to prepare students for employment
Community Service Program – Volunteer opportunities, service-learning projects
and partnerships with local organisations to encourage civic responsibility and community involvement.
Employee Support and Services Program -TCSC Employee Co-operative Society is a registered society which is registered and functional since 2012. This co-operative society facilitates employees to save and invest their money for returns. Academic and non-academic staff members are members of this society, they can avail loans from the society for their immediate unforeseen needs at no collateral guarantee. The non- academic staff members find a sense of security with this program.
Students Support Program in Sports – The College takes keen interest to promote sports among the students. It provides ample facilities to nurture their sports enthusiasm into a career. Sports coaches of international repute are appointed by the college for training and coaching, Relaxation in attendance, Counselling sessions, Extra academic training, lunch and meals, jerseys for matches etc are a few support activities. The College has grown enormously in sports and stands 2nd at University of Mumbai championship since few years.
Academic Support
Various personality enhancement programs were conducted throughout the year for Holistic development of the students and faculty members.
During the Year 16 no of Career Development Sessions were organised across all departments in their respective domain.
IYM was the International Colloquium on Millets and Cultural Heritage on the theme “Unveiling the Potential for Sustainable Agriculture, Nutrition, and Global Well-being" which was held on 101h February, 2024.
A National Conference on "Harmonising Wisdom by Unveiling Swami Vivekananda's Teachings and Indian Knowledge System for Enhancing Quality in Higher Education" on 6th March, 2024.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), TCSC organized a Guidance Session on "Preparation for the 4th Cycle of Accreditation by NAAC" on 9th August, 2023.

A "Research Methodology Workshop" was organised by the Research Committee, Thakur College of Science & Commerce (Autonomous) on 2d" February, 2024.

NCC
National cadet corps with the motto “Unity and Discipline” has been carving the social moral values of the cadets enrolled. The unit has been working for the past 22 years with the same ideology. The following activities were organized by the 3 Maharashtra Battalion and 5 Maharashtra Girls Battalion NCC Unit this year:
Beach Cleaning event was organized by the Unit at Aksa Beach, Mumbai to create awareness about the importance of cleanliness to the people visiting the beach. Cadets conducted this activity on 5th June, 2023 and 20 cadets participated in this beach cleaning drive.
Poster Making Competition was organized on 12th June, 2023 on various themes including ‘World Ocean Day’, ‘Save Water’ and ‘Dangers of Social Media Addiction’. The competition was held to encourage the artistic skills of the 23 participating cadets, apart from sensitizing them towards their moral responsibility to protect nature and to understand the risk factors associated with social media addiction.
Amarkanth Jha Blood Donation Camp was organized by Amarkanth Jha Foundation, Mumbai on 30th June, 2023 at Acharya Narendra Dev Vidya Mandir, Borivali, Mumbai. A total of 18 NCC Cadets volunteered for this noble cause. Paper Bag Making and Distribution activity was organized by the NCC Unit, TCSC on 7th and 8th July, 2023. Approximately 500 paper bags were made and distributed to the local vendors and shopkeepers in Thakur Village, Mumbai to spread the message to reduce plastic bag usage.
Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated jointly by the NCC Unit, TCSC and NCC Unit, Thakur College of Engineering and Technology in the Engineering ground campus on 26th July, 2023. The Honorable Chief Guest for the event Lt. Cdr. Bijay Nair (Retd.), decorated Indian Naval Officer reviewed the Guard of Honor presented by the NCC cadets which was followed by his interactive session. He inspired the cadets with his life experiences and motivated them to work passionately towards their personal and professional goals. A total of 46 cadets participated in the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations with great pride.
Rann Hath Sainik Din (Shaheed Din) was organized by Anam Prem, a city-based NGO on 23rd September, 2023 to honor the parents and relatives of the brave soldiers who died in combat while protecting the motherland. A total of 26 cadets volunteered for the event and presented Shok Salami to the martyrs and reflected on the profound sacrifices made by the brave soldiers and their families.
Ganpati Visarjan Traffic Control Duty was conducted on 28th September, 2023 by the NCC Unit, TCSC in association with Samta Nagar Police Station, Mumbai. A total of 14 SD Cadets and 6 SW Cadets helped the traffic police for the smooth conduct of idol immersion and traffic management in and around the visarjan areas.
5 Maharashtra Girls Battalion NCC Unit, TCSC in association with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Kandivali East, Mumbai organized a cleaning activity under the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign on 1st October, 2023. A total of 27 cadets participated in this activity which included a Cleanliness Drive conducted at Damu Nagar, Kandivali East and near Akurli Metro Station Road, Mumbai. The cadets were divided into sub-groups for cleaning and collecting the garbage and to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness in the nearby localities. The cleanliness drive successfully met the objectives of the SHS campaign by undertaking shramdaan activities to generate jan-andolan through community participation.
Puneet Sagar Abhiyan was the “Beach Cleaning Activity” which was spearheaded by Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024 organising committee and led by renowned Environmental Activist and Lawyer Mr. Afroz Shah to create awareness about cleanliness and its importance on 28th October, 2023 at Devachi Wadi, Versova Beach. A total of 40 SW Cadets of 5 Maharashtra Girls Battalion NCC Unit participated in the beach clean-up drive.
Blood Donation Camp was organized by HDFC Bank, Mumbai on the occasion of NCC Day which was celebrated on 28th November, 2023. Four SW Cadets of 5 Maharashtra Girls Battalion NCC Unit, TCSC volunteered for this camp.
Army Day was celebrated by the NCC Unit, TCSC on 15th January, 2024. The Chief Guest for the event was Major Pawan Kumar Thapliyal, a veteran of the Indian Army. Cadets of the unit presented Guard of Honor to the Chief Guest. Shok Salami was also performed to pay condolences to the brave warriors who laid down their life for the motherland. Guards were commanded by CJUO Pradumnarayan Singh, SGT Raj Gupta, LCPL Harivansh Parsad Gupta and LCPL Varun Rathod. This was followed by a motivational talk by Maj. Pawan Kumar Thapliyal who extensively interacted with the cadets. He shared his experiences in the army as well as his academic journey which was highly motivating for the cadets. He also encouraged them to believe in themselves and spoke about the significance of fitness, positive attitude, sense of humor, team work and emotional quotient. A total of 67 cadets participated in this event.
Musical Evening by the Naval Cadets was organized at Navy Nagar, Colaba, Mumbai on 4th March, 2024. The harmonious musical evening was organized to pay tribute to the soldiers which was conducted under the supervision of Director General, NCC. A total of 18 Cadets were present for this event.
Students’ Achievements:
Cadet Sahil Vishwakarma (Air Wing) participated in National Republic Day Parade, 2024 in Prime Minister's Rally.
Annual Competition was organized to create a competitive spirit and the winners were:

3 Maharashtra Battalion NCC Unit:
1. Senior Under Officer Sagar Menon participated in Inter Group- Shooting Competition held at Pune.
2. Cadet Junior Under Officer Pradumnarayan Singh and Company Sergeant Kaushlesh Mishra were awarded the Best Cadet in Shivaji Trail Trek held at Kolhapur.
3. Sergeant Shivam Sharma was selected for All India Trekking Camp held at Kerala.
4. Junior Under Officer Sanchit Renose, Company Quarter Master Sergeant Prathamesh Chavan, Sergeant Ayush Pathak, Sergeant Krishna Varma, Corporal Ayush Chavan, Corporal Varun Rathod, Lance Corporal Arjun Gupta and Lance Corporal Harivansh Prasad Gupta got selected for Army Attachment Camp held at Pune.
5. Company Quarter Master Sergeant Sachin Shukla cleared the Indian Army Agniveer Selection Process Examination and got selected in the Indian Army.
6. Cadet Junior Under Officer Pradumnarayan Singh and Corporal Varun Rathod were awarded medals for Best Administration, Sergeant Raj Gupta was awarded medal for Best Photographer and Lance Corporal Arjun Gupta was awarded medal for Best Obstacle Training at the Combined Annual Training Camp.
5 Maharashtra Girls Battalion NCC Unit:
1. Senior Under Officer Anjali Giri was selected and attended the National Level Basic Leadership Camp at Nanded.
2. Senior Under Officer Anjali Giri was awarded Best Senior in Combined Annual Training Camp held at Tarapur.
3. Company Sergeant Major Diksha Singh, Sergeant Sakshi Patel, Sergeant Anamika Mondal and Lance Corporal Rama Singh were selected and attended the Pre- IGC Republic Day Camp.
4. Sergeant Pari Nag was selected and attended the National Level Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Camp held at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
5. Sergeant Supriya Rajbhar was selected for Firing Inter Group Competition held at the Thal Sanik Camp.
6. Sergeant Sakshi Patel was awarded for the Best Guards at the Pre-Inter Group Competition Republic Day Camp.
NSS
The NSS Unit of Thakur College of Science and Commerce formed in the year 2002 has been consciously striving towards enabling social transformation though its outreach projects for the year 2023-2024. A strong and dedicated team of 300 NSS Volunteers (169 Male and 131 Female) undertook the following activities this year in and around college and in its seven adopted areas:
Area Based Activities:
Tree Plantation and Conservation (Venue: Shri Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram, Manori): For the past 16 years, the Ashram is adopted by the NSS Unit, where the project Tree Plantation and Conservation was initiated to support the on-going afforestation drive in the adjoining 75 acres of land. This year too, the volunteers visited the site every Sunday and conducted various activities to preserve and conserve nature, and supported the ashram in its upkeep and maintenance work. Volunteers carried out various tasks like planting saplings and trees, watering the plants, landscaping, beach cleaning, ashram cleaning and kitchen-related work. This year, a total of 1,150 saplings and trees were planted by around 70 NSS volunteers every week for the entire year. A total of 15 NCC Cadets also participated in the tree plantation drive which was held on 27th August, 2023 at Manori.
The NSS unit of TCSC in association with Shri Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram, Manori organized the “Laksh Laksh Deep Sohala” on the occasion of Kojagiri Poornima on 24th October, 2023. The volunteers helped the 30,000 devotees visiting the ashram on this auspicious day by ensuring proper crowd control and management. As a part of the festivities, close to 2 lakh diyas were lit representing the divine light by the 80 volunteers who participated in this fest.
Paper Bag Making and Distribution: Under the “Ban on Single Use Plastics” initiative, the NSS Unit, TCSC conducted Paper Bag Distribution project activity in Thakur Village, Kandivali (East), Mumbai on various important occasions throughout the year. The paper bags made by the 150 volunteers were distributed to the local vendors and shopkeepers. The vendors and shopkeepers were explained about the negative impact of plastic usage on the environment and the NSS volunteers suggested various sustainable alternatives of plastics that can be used by them. A total of 18,000 paper bags were distributed under this initiative free of cost.
Medical Camp and Ration Distribution: The NSS Unit in association with Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar Mumbai organizes Medical Camp on second- Sunday of every month since the last 22 years. The primary aim of this project is to provide free medical check-ups, medicines, and ration to the tribal villagers of Kosbad (the adopted village of TCSC). With the dedicated team of Medical Practitioners and NSS volunteers, this year a total of 465 tribal villagers were attended by the doctors and medicines were dispensed to them during the 12 Medical Camps organized by the Unit. The NSS volunteers assisted the medical practitioners by keeping the records and documentation of the tribal patients.
The team also conducted “Periodic Interactions” with villagers on various topics like Health and Personal Hygiene, Sanitization, and other social issues. Awareness was created amongst the village women about Menstrual Hygiene by the Samiti Members along with the female NSS volunteers. The NSS volunteers also conducted “Value Education Classes” for the children in Kosbad village during the visits to instill moral values and principles for their holistic development.
In addition to the Medical Camps, Ration Kits and other necessities were also provided to the villagers to meet their day-to-day requirements. This year, a total of 650 Ration Kits were distributed to the villagers. Around 670 kilograms of Lentils, 1,240 kilograms of Rice, clothes and educational material were distributed during the year. This year around 500 mango saplings were also distributed to the locals for plantation.
Blood Donation Drives: The NSS Unit, TCSC has been organizing blood donation camps and drives regularly over the past decade. This year, the unit had organized Three Blood Donation Drives in collaboration with The Lions Club, Lions Club Millennium, Indian Red Cross Society, Borivali Blood Bank, Nair Blood Bank and HDFC Bank throughout the year. The drives were conducted at Thakur College of Science and Commerce and Borivali Railway Station. The collected blood units were donated to the Borivali Blood Bank, Meenatai Thackrey Blood Bank and Rajiv Gandhi Blood Bank for the treatment of needy patients. The NSS Unit successfully collected 495 blood units this year. A total of 46 NCC Cadets also participated in the blood donation drive conducted in the month of July, 2023.
Rakhi Project: “Rakhi Project” of NSS Unit in collaboration with Seva Vivek, a Non-Profit Organization based at Palghar, took the initiative to provide financial assistance to the tribal women. They assisted these women by selling ‘Rakhis’ in the college campus from 10th to 30th August, 2023. The project was a huge success with an active participation of 70 volunteers resulting in a substantial collection of Rs. 19,760/- being raised from the sale of 1,000 rakhis towards the NGO to help and empower the tribal women. Additionally, volunteers facilitated the sale of bracelets, keychains, earrings, and chocolates made by differently abled children in collaboration with V.D. Indian Society for Mentally Challenged, Malad, Mumbai. A total of 184 items were sold generating a revenue of Rs. 6, 920/- which was donated for the noble cause.
Flash Mob during Ganesh Festival: A Flash Mob on “No Plastic Movement, Nirmalya Mukti and HIV/ AIDS” was conducted on 25th and 26th September, 2023. The flash mobs were performed in front of the Ganesh Pandals to sensitize the community about waste management, recycling of waste, and to address the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS. A total of 40 volunteers actively participated in the flash mob and impressed the audience with their vision.
Balwadi Project: The NSS unit in association with Soul of God School, Mumbai organised and implemented the Balwadi Project. This project involved 10 volunteers engaging the students of Classes 1 to 3 in Bal Vikas activities like poetry recitation, educational games, and motivational songs. The project was carried out on every Friday and Saturday commencing from 24th August, 2023 to 31st January, 2024.
Pulse Polio Campaign: To accomplish the aim of making India Polio free, the Unit took an initiative of conducting Pulse Polio Immunization drives on 28th May, 2023, 10th December, 2023 and 3rd March 2024 in collaboration with Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The 40 volunteers after getting due training from the doctors, undertook the campaign in Akurli Hill Area and Damupada, Kandivali, Mumbai. This year, two campaigns were conducted and 2,044 children were successfully immunized.
College Level Activities:
Mega Beach Clean-Up Drive: Beach Cleanliness Drive in collaboration with “For Future India (FFI)”, an NGO was organized on 22nd April, 2023 on the occasion of World Earth Day. A total of 45 volunteers collected around 60 Kgs waste from the Uttan beach as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan of GoI.
NSS Day: On the occasion of 54th NSS Day, the Unit celebrated this day with the children of Montfort Children’s Home, Borivali, Mumbai on 24th September, 2023. Volunteers organized a series of activities like drawing and singing with the children at the facility and created beautiful memories with them. The 60 volunteers involved in the activity also donated books and toys to the facility.
Rally for Dengue Awareness: A rally was organized in collaboration with ESIC Hospital, Damunagar, Mumbai to create awareness about Dengue and its prevention on 11th October, 2023. The 31 volunteers organized a rally in Thakur Village and the areas in its vicinity with captivating slogans to address the medical concerns associated with Dengue.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: In the spirit to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation, the NSS Volunteers were administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge on 31st October, 2023 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This day observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) re-affirms the inherent strength and resilience of the citizens to withstand threats to the security, unity and integrity of the country.
Meri Maati Mera Desh: “Meri Maati Mera Desh (MMMD)”, with the tagline ‘Mitti ko naman, veeron ka vandan’, was a Nationwide and people led “Jan Bhagidari” initiative to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence which is the final phase of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Under this initiative the following activities were undertaken:
Administering the Panch Pran Pledge with a handful of soil which was collected in the “Amrit Kalash” between 9th to 15th August, 2023 in TCSC Campus. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) C. T. Chakraborty, Faculty Members, Staff and over 100 NSS volunteers proudly took the Panch Pran Pledge.
“Vasudha Vandan”, the tree plantation drive was undertaken at Kosbad Village, Palghar District and at Shri Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram, Manori, Malad (West), Mumbai. On 13th August, 2023 more than 500 Alphonso Mango saplings were planted and distributed by 30 volunteers in Kosbad Village and more than 60 Bamboo saplings were planted in Shri Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram by 55 volunteers. On 3rd September, 2023 tree plantation drive was again organised at Shri Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram and 20 saplings were planted by 35 volunteers.
NSS volunteers performed a street play on “Panch Pran” on 15th August, 2023. The street play enacted by 15 volunteers aimed to create awareness about Panch Pran and its relevance in Thakur Village, Kandivali (East), Mumbai. The NSS Unit also distributed 300 paper bags to local vendors in Thakur Village to reduce the consumption of single-use plastics.
A Community Engagement Rally about “Panch Pran and Meri Maati Mera Desh” was organised on 15th August and 21st October, 2023 with 75 volunteers and 37 volunteers respectively. This rally organised in Thakur Village and TCSC College Campus, Kandivali, Mumbai raised awareness about Panch Pran and Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign.
NSS POs of various affiliated colleges of University of Mumbai representing Mumbai Suburban Zone-II and Palghar District were administered “Panch Pran Pledge” during the Annual NSS Planning Session of POs held at TCSC on 31st August, 2023.
The NSS Unit volunteers met Shri. Anurag Thakur, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, GoI while on his visit to Mumbai on 15th September, 2024 under the aegis of this Nation-wide programme. Also present on this occasion was Dr. Rameshwar Kothawale, State Liaison Officer, Mumbai. The notable efforts of the NSS unit were well appreciated by the esteemed dignitaries.
“Selfie with Mitti” was the two-days public relations campaign with 35 volunteers conducting class-to-class awareness. Learners uploaded a total of 1,102 selfies under this drive in their honest bid to respect the Motherland.
Meri Maati Mera Desh initiative culminated with Mr. Vinayak Yadav, NSS Unit volunteer representing TCSC and University of Mumbai at Kartavya Path, New Delhi on 31st October, 2023. He handed over the Amrit Kalash to the authorities to be used for the construction of Amrit Vatika at New Delhi. The NSS team representing University of Mumbai were also a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav finale celebrations held at New Delhi where they were administered the Panch Pran pledge by the Honorable Prime Minister
Workshop on “Gender Sensitization” was organized in collaboration with MAVA (Men Against Violence and Abuse), India on 6th September, 2023. The Resource Person for the Session was Mr. Pravin Thote, Project Coordinator, MAVA who guided the learners about the complexities of Sex, Gender and the stigma associated with alternate sexualities. The session was well attended by 38 volunteers who were able to demystify the myths and misconceptions about gender and work towards a gender neutral society.
Deep Cleaning Drive: The NSS Unit of TCSC was involved in Deep Cleaning Drive at Singh Estate Road No. 2, Kandivali East, Mumbai on 14th January, 2024. The event was graced by Mr. Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra who appreciated the efforts taken by the unit and also actively participated in the cleanliness drive. A total of 35 volunteers actively participated in this initiative.
University Level Projects:
Hundredth Mann ki Baat: University of Mumbai organized the screening of the Centenary Mann Ki Baat episode for all the learners and faculty members. A total of 14 volunteers participated in the event and derived positive affirmations and learnings from the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address. They also participated in the visual show held at Gateway of India, Mumbai.
Planning Session of NSS Program Officers (POs): TCSC NSS Unit in association with NSS Cell of University of Mumbai organized the “Planning Session of NSS Program Officers (POs)” on 31st August, 2023. Mr. Ramesh Deokar, NSS PO, University of Mumbai was the resource person for the session who guided the NSS POs from all the affiliated colleges of University of Mumbai Suburban Zone-II and Palghar District about the functioning of NSS unit, the administrative procedures, enrollment of volunteers, management of activities under NSS unit etc. Mr. Deokar also explained about various government schemes related to NSS and also the selection criteria to be eligible for participating in camps like NIC, NAC, Avhann and NRD. NSS PO, TCSC also guided the participants about activity selection, association with NGOs, PFMS and its usage.
Swachhata Hi Seva: The NSS Unit participated in the clean-up drive at Manori Beach and at University of Mumbai Kalina Campus on 1st October, 2023. This drive was organised under the Swachh Bharat Mission which aims to generate greater public participation and reinforce the concept of sanitation for all.
Bhajan Sandhya: University of Mumbai organized Bhajan Sandhya at Gateway of India on 2nd October, 2023 to commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The NSS Unit of Thakur College of Science and Commerce attended the Bhajan Sandhya where they were administered the pledge for “Swachh Bharat”.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebration: A total of 21 learners from NSS unit of TCSC attended the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebration organized by University of Mumbai on 20th February, 2024. The participants attended the guest lectures on the life and times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
7-Days Residential Special Winter Camp was organized from 24th to 30th December, 2023 at Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Tribal Residential School, Shirole Village, Bhiwandi Tehsil, Thane District. The pre-camp preparations were completed by the NSS Volunteers prior to the camp commencement. The 7-Days camp followed a fixed schedule including Yoga exercises, Morning Assembly, Flag Hoisting, Cleaning and Maintaining Camp Site, Field Work, Guest Lectures etc. followed by Inter-group Activities and community dinner. During the camp, the unit donated 450 mats, repaired the school washroom, and distributed 900 kilograms of clothes, toys and books to the villagers. The volunteers helped the Residential School to cultivate and grow the “Kitchen Garden” in the backyard of the school campus. A Medical Check-Up Camp was organized for the 450 resident children who were screened by the doctors.
A variety of interactive sessions on topics like Team Building, Sex Education, HIV/ AIDS, awareness about Snakes were conducted by the in-house faculty of TCSC as well as other activities like Star Gazing, fun and games which were organized for the school children. A few Ex-Volunteers and esteemed dignitaries conducted the following engaging interactive sessions:

• Dr. Santosh Pathare, renowned Film Critic, Writer and Director delivered a talk on “Parental Communication”
The camp was attended by 97 male and 53 female NSS volunteers and 2 POs. College Management and Faculty Members also visited the camp site to boost the morale of the campers.

DLLE
DLLE has been recognized as a statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. In the Academic Year 2023-2024, a total of 170 learners registered for various DLLE projects like Annapurna Yojana (APY), Survey Research (SR), Population Education Club (PEC), Education for All (EFA), Career Project (CP) and Industry Oriented Project (IOP).
“First Term Training Program of DLLE” was conducted by Resource Person Dr. Vijay Patil, University Field Co-Ordinator, DLLE, University of Mumbai on 16th September, 2023. The training aimed at orienting the 149 registered DLLE learners about the DLLE’s functioning and scope of activities under its various projects. “Second Term Training Program of DLLE was also conducted by Dr. Vijay Patil on 28th February, 2024. A total of 131 DLLE learners participated in this session. Dr. Patil guided the learners in detail about Project Writing which is an important aspect of the DLLE’s documentation format.
Street Plays on Women Empowerment and Cyber Crime were enacted by 24 PEC learners at prominent Ganapati Pandals located in Kandivali, Mumbai. The street plays organized on 26th and 27th September, 2023 aimed at creating community consciousness about women empowerment and the need for safety on digital platforms to avoid cyber-crimes.
Breast Cancer Awareness Program jointly organized by Department of Lifelong Learning & Extension (DLLE) and Women Development & Empowerment Cell, TCSC was chaired by Dr. Daxa Thakkar, Junior Clinical Coordinator, Asian Cancer Institute, Mumbai on 27th October, 2023. The session aimed at generating knowledge and spreading awareness about breast cancer, its early symptoms, timely diagnosis and treatment. The program was well attended by 129 learners and 33 faculty and staff members.
PEC learners conducted Public Awareness on “Banking Procedures” on 6th, 7th and 8th November, 2023. This financial literacy programme by 29 PEC learners aimed to spread awareness about the banking procedures to the residents staying in Borivali and Kandivali areas of Mumbai.
Quiz competition on “Water Conservation” was conducted on 9th November, 2023 for DLLE learners to sensitise them regarding water conservation and its management strategies. A total of 89 learners attempted the quiz on the methods of water conservation to emphasise the importance of water sustainability for the future.
Colourful posters on Gender Equality, Ocean Cleanup, Water Conservation and Green Transportation were displayed under the Poster Making Competition held on 10th November, 2023 for DLLE learners. A total of 60 learners participated and presented their posters for this competition.
Awareness Program on “Advantages and Disadvantages of Mobile Phones and Importance of Millets” conducted at Samata Vidya Mandir School, Kandivali (East), Mumbai was spearheaded by 14 EFA learners on 2nd December, 2023. The EFA learners spread awareness in the school about the importance of millets and also explained the potential advantages and disadvantages of using mobile phones.
Street Play was organized in the college campus on 15th December, 2023 to spread awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). A total of 14 EFA learners promoted the flagship scheme of Government of India which facilitates micro credit loans.
Power Point Competition on the theme “Different Tribes of India” was held on 19th December, 2023 showcasing how the tribal communities have played a key role in conserving the rich culture and heritage of India. The event witnessed a participation of 20 EFA learners.
DLLE Unit of TCSC organised Voters Awareness Program in the college campus from 27th to 29th January, 2024. The activity aimed to encourage the eligible voters and first-time voters to exercise their democratic voting right and participate in the electoral process in large numbers. A total of 119 DLLE learners participated in the comprehensive voter awareness activities in the campus by initiating class-to-class promotions and setting up a help desk giving information about processing Voter-ID Cards.
Road Safety Awareness Program was organised on 30th January, 2024 to create awareness about road safety at the Mahindra & Mahindra Limited Company Circle, Western Express Highway, Kandivali, Mumbai. In this program, 121 DLLE learners participated to spread the important message of adhering to traffic rules and safe driving.
Comprehensive Waste Management Awareness Drive was conducted by DLLE from 1st to 7th February, 2024 by 118 DLLE learners to raise awareness regarding effective disposal of waste and to embrace responsible waste management practices for a sustainable tomorrow.
Social Visit was organised to Daya Vihar Ashram, Malwani, Malad, Mumbai on 3rd February, 2024. A total of 11 APY learners visited the Ashram and gave groceries and snacks to the children in the facility from the money saved by them after selling home-made snacks in the college campus.
Industrial Visit was organised for 12 IOP learners to DSG Group, Borivali (East), Mumbai on 21st February, 2024. The visit to the prominent residential construction business helped the IOP learners to understand the working of real estate business, market trends, profit dimensions of real estate business and outsourcing practices for cost efficiency.
Civil Defence Disaster Management Program was organised by DLLE on 5th March, 2024. The Resource Person Mr. Bhushan Padhare, Assistant Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Home Department, Govt. of Maharashtra in his session explained the comprehensive disaster management plan to increase the resilience of the State of Maharashtra towards disasters. He discussed the State’s hazard profile, preventive and mitigation plans and emergency response and recovery mechanisms as laid down in a disaster management plan with 128 DLLE learners.
Career Fair was organised for 33 CP learners on 2nd March, 2024 to understand the dynamic landscape of work. They explored the diverse career fields and navigated a plethora Other Dept.

The College Gymkhana facilitates the needs of students who play Indoor games like Martial Arts, Judo, Carrom, Chess, Boxing, etc. whereas a Large stadium with viewing gallery and other infrastructural facilities provide an ideal ambience for outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Throwball, Kabaddi, Basketball, etc.
The College also provides Table Tennis, Chess & Carrom Area in the Gymkhana.

Cricket/Football Stadium and International Standard Multi-Sport Facility Thakur Cricket Stadium ground has two pitches which are actively used & its outfield has patches of green grass and red soil. The ground has lush green outfield with 60-to-65-yard boundary and natural turf wicket. Thakur stadium cricket ground is one of the best grounds in Kandivali area which provides international standard multi‐sport facility. It is having sitting are where 500 to 600 people can sit and enjoy the sports events. Ample parking space toilet, drinking water facilities are available within the stadium area. Care taker staff cottage are also available.
The entire stadium area is covered with full boundary wall. The boundary is short only on side of the pitch which is straight. Stand side boundary is quite long. Proper white marking for 30 yards is clearly visible. Ground is available on rent for both leather as well as tennis ball. Ground is also available for night matches. Thakur Cricket Stadium Turf, a unique international standard multi‐sport facility that has been set up at Thakur Stadium. While they have prepared two artificial football pitches, Thakur Cricket Stadium Turf will offer the best possible training facilities for football, cricket, volleyball, and tennis. Football academies provide coaching at the turf.
