About Thakur Institute of International Studies

Introduction and Program Overview

Thakur College’s International Program for Technology and Business is a comprehensive 2+2 twinning program that enables 12th Pass out students to complete the first two years of their undergraduate studies at Thakur College in India and then transfer to a partnered foreign university for the final two years. Upon completion, students earn their bachelor’s degree awarded by the foreign partner university. This model is modelled on the successful programs of top Indian and Western Universities, which allows students to spend two years at Indian Universities and then two years at an overseas university of their choice.

The program is designed to offer students a global education experience while leveraging the strengths of Thakur College’s instruction in the initial years.

In this program, students follow an internationally aligned curriculum at Thakur College for two years, covering foundational and core courses in technology or business. After meeting the academic and language requirements, students transfer seamlessly into the third year at one of our partner universities in the USA, Canada, or Australia. The final degree is granted by the partner university, giving students an internationally recognized qualification. This approach provides several benefits, including exposure to global academic standards, significant cost savings (since only two years are spent abroad) and the comfort of transitioning to a foreign university with a strong academic foundation.

The program focuses on fields of Technology and Business, catering to students aspiring to careers in computer science, information technology, engineering technology, business management, finance and related areas. Thakur College has established partnerships with reputable universities abroad (detailed in Section 3) to facilitate credit transfer and ensure the curriculum in the first two years meets international standards. By completing two years at Thakur and two years abroad, students gain a blend of local and international expertise, develop cross-cultural skills, and earn a degree from a foreign institution – all under a well-structured and closely monitored framework.
