Thakur College has partnered with select international universities that will accept our students after two years of study, with full recognition of credits, into their degree programs. Each partner university offers specific degree pathways for our students in technology or business streams. The current partner universities and their corresponding degree pathways are:
Rider University (New Jersey, USA) – Students can transfer into Rider University’s programs, such as the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems/Computer Science or the Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analytics. For example, Rider guarantees entry into the third year of its B.S. in Information Systems or B.B.A. program for Thakur students who complete the first two years and meet the requirements. (Rider University lists Thakur College as an official transfer partner in Mumbai and provides pathways for both business and technology majors.)
University of the Fraser Valley (British Columbia, Canada) – Students in the technology stream (Information Technology/Computer Science) can transfer to UFV’s Bachelor of Computer Information Systems program. Thakur College’s curriculum for the first two years of the B.Sc. Information Technology is aligned so that graduates can enter UFV at the third-year level. Up to 60 credits earned at Thakur are transferred to UFV, allowing students to complete the B.C.I.S. degree with two additional years of study at UFV. (UFV’s partnership with Thakur College specifically enables a block transfer of 60 credits into their Computer Information Systems degree, contingent on meeting a GPA and English requirements.)
Royal Roads University (British Columbia, Canada) – Students in the business stream have pathways to Royal Roads University’s programs, such as the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainability and International Business or the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication. For example, RRU’s agreement with Thakur College allows students who complete the first two years of Bachelor of Commerce with any specialisation at Thakur to transfer into the 3rd year of RRU’s BBA in Business & Sustainability program
In the Communication domain, students have the opportunity to pursue a combined Bachelor of Communication and Media and Master of Communication. Thakur students in the Media and Communication track for the first two years can transfer to the University of Canberra to complete a bachelor’s degree in Communication and, subsequently, a Master’s in Communication within approximately two and a half years.
These unique pathways allow students to graduate with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Canberra, providing a competitive edge in their respective fields.
Each partner university has been carefully selected for its academic excellence, compatibility of programs, and commitment to supporting transfer students. All these institutions are accredited and well-regarded in their respective countries. Thakur College, through memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with each partner, has established credit articulation agreements ensuring that courses completed at Thakur in the first two years will fulfil the required coursework at the partner university.
Degree Pathways: Depending on their chosen stream at entry (Technology, Business or Communication), students will be mapped to an appropriate degree pathway at the end of Year 1 or the beginning of Year 2. For instance, a student in the technology stream might be on a pathway to complete a B.Sc. in Computer Science or IT abroad, whereas a business stream student might be on a pathway to a BBA or related degree abroad. The exact degree title conferred is that of the foreign university’s program (for example, BBA (Hons) from RRU or B.Sc. CIS from UFV). Section 8 details how the transfer of credits and admission to a foreign university works in practice.
Final Degree Award: Regardless of which partner university a student transfers to, the final bachelor’s degree is awarded by the partner foreign university. The diploma and transcripts for the last two years will be from the foreign institution, with appropriate mention (as per that university’s practice) of transfer credits from Thakur College. This means students officially become alumni of the foreign university, with equal status as any other graduate from that institution.
Thakur College will, however, recognize the student’s completion of the first two years through transcripts and could provide a certificate of completion if needed (for example, an Associate Degree or Diploma equivalence, subject to academic council approval). The primary intent, however, is that students continue on to finish the degree at the partner university. By partnering with multiple universities, the program offers flexibility – students can choose the country or specialization that best fits their career goals, while all paths assure a high-quality international degree after two additional years of study.
