NSS Activities & Events in Academic Year 2019-2020



NSS UNIT of Thakur College of Science & Commerce had always been Pro-active for taking up sustainable and developmental projects in society. 250 Volunteers (126 male & 124 female) were enrolled in the unit under the guidance of 3 Program Officers Prof. Sushil Shinde, Dr. (Mrs.) Manju Singhania, and Prof. Mithilesh Vishwakarma. The Unit had organized various activities in academic year 2019-20 like Tree Plantation and Conservation, Blood Donation drives, Beautification of Playground and school, Pulse Polio Immunization, Traffic controlling, Rakhi project, Note book Distribution, Medical Camps & Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Tribal Villages, Adoption of school for Education Purpose, Rallies for Awareness, Health Check Up, Nirmalya mukti, Book collection for Gyanganga Library, 7 Days Special Camp and many more. NSS Volunteers were also part of activities organized at District, University, State & National Level.


ORIENTATION MEETING

NSS unit of Thakur College is well known for the innovative thought, well organized project and enthusiastic participation in activities, all get channelized with participation of every volunteer and under the approval and supervision of program officer. There is always orientation prior to every project undertaken by us Leaders take initiative to execute and make sure all the participated member along them complete the project with ease and precision within the given period and maximum utilization of an individual is done with respect to one’s capability.

AREA BASED PROJECT

  1. Tree Plantation & Conservation at Manori (Sunday Project) & Kojagiri Poornima Celebration


Adopted Area: Shri Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram, Manori (Malad West)

No of Students: 50-60


Shri Gagangiri Maharaj ashram is been adopted for more than 12 years for tree plantation and conservation. Around 50-60 volunteers actively participate in this project on every Sunday. We majorly focus on maintenance and conservation of around 40000 trees by loosening of soil creating decomposition pits and soil beds for the better growth of trees. This year around 30,000 nursery saplings were prepared by our volunteers which was supported by Clean we go NGO. The tree sapling is part of mass plantation drive to be carried out at Mumbai Goa Highway. Ashram trust felicitated Principal Dr. Mrs. Chaitali Chakraborty & NSS Prog Officer for their dedicated support for the tree plantation activities in ashram for more than 12 years.

Along with tree plantation and conservation volunteers prepare for Khojagiri Purnima a yearly event in ashram in which thousands of devotees attend to lit 2 lakh diyas in ashram premises. NSS Volunteers help in washing diyas and sorting it. NSS volunteers also help in organizing the event and performing street plays for mass awareness. This year we performed street plays on Election & Voting Awareness on the day 14th October 2019 prior to the assembly elections. Public was made aware about their rights of voting and a pledge was also taken to vote.









  1. Medical camp at Wada, Talavali (2nd Sunday project)

Adopted Area: Talavali village, Vikramgad, Wada Dist. Palghar

No of Students: 20-25

NSS Unit of Thakur College of Science & Commerce has been running this project since 18 years in association with Shri Satya Sai Seva organization. This project is conducted on every 2nd Sunday of the month. Around 20-25 volunteers actively participate in this project. The Motive was to provide facilities such as free health check-ups and free medicines to the tribal of the nearby village. Volunteer helped to organize the medical camp and assist the doctors to keep the medical records of the patients in form of case papers. 560 tribal villagers were provided medical facilities and dental check-up of 412 ashram school kids. We also distributed clothes and blankets to villagers. We provided ration to the 1397 villagers. 

A survey of toilets was carried out in village for making the villagers aware about the cleanliness and hygiene. Beaching powder was provided free to the villagers and demonstration was been shown by volunteers to keep the toilet clean. Regular interaction with the villager was done by volunteers for various purposes like Gram Swachata, Health and Sanitation. Volunteers visited the Vatsalya Ashram School and taught the students by using modern teaching techniques. We distributed stationaries and other necessities to the children for educational purposes.  We also taught the childrens that how to make paper bag with the aim of No Plastic Use.

  1. Pulse Polio Campaign

Venue: MCGM Akurli health centre, Kandivali (East)

Date:-  10th March,16th June,15th Sep. 2019 & 19th Jan,2020

No of Students: 60

In collaboration with MCGM’s Akurli Health center, Kandivali, NSS Unit participated in Pulse Polio immunization programs on 4 polio Sundays Volunteers were trained about the polio drops and how to vaccinate small children by medial officers of the Health Centre. Pulse Polio Campaign was conducted on 10th March,16th June,15th Sep. 2019 & 19th Jan,2020  in this academic year in which total 60 Volunteers actively participated. The volunteers were divided into groups and were assigned with the areas for pulse polio camp and covered area of Damu Nagar, Hanuman Nagar, Akurli Road, Ashok Nakar Thakur Village, Samta Nagar Kandivali Railway, Station, Lokhandwala Complex etc. 9419 children were immunized




  1. Nirmalaya Mukti

            Venue: Quantum Tower BMC Shed S.V Road, Malad (West)

No of Students: 82

NSS unit started up this project in collaboration with Om Sai Nirmalaya Nirmulan Kendra. Volunteers worked under the guidance of Mr. Sanjeev Said (President of Om Sai Nirmalaya Nirmulan Kendra). The project aimed to decompose of flower waste generated during Ganesh festival and to make fertilizer from the waste organic material Flower other waste was collected from the immersion sites from Marve Beach, Aksa Beach and other. It was brought to BMC shed at Quantum tower Malad where around 40 truck waste was dumped. Volunteers segregated the flower, leaves, plastic and other organic material from the garbage. Then shredding flowers and other organic waste was done by using shredder machine. Heaps of shredded flowers were sprinkled with bio-inoculum for the faster degradation, with constant mixing of waste. After 25 days of composting the heaps were thrashed in to fine soil like fertilezer. This was packed in to small packets and provided to small gardens of MCGM. The project was carried out for 31 days in which 40 tons of Nirmalaya was converted into 1.53 tons of organic fertilizer.








  1. Road Safety Project

Venue: Thakur Village

No of Students: 60

In collaboration with PCGT

NSS Volunteers participated in Road Safety Awareness in collaboration with Public Concern and Governance Trust PCGT Volunteers performed street plays in adopted areas and on traffic signals and helped the traffic police officers for managing and controlling the traffic during festivals and on the day of elections. Seminar on Traffic rules and road safety was organized in college in which RTO Officer Senior PI Mr. Chandrakant Ghadge gave guidance to NSS Volunteers. He explained the rules and regulations of road safety. Audio visuals of Roads accidents were shown to participant to learn from the mistakes done by others. 5000 pledges of road safety  were signed by students, and public in week long Road Safety Week.

In collaboration with Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Welfare Foundation, Trax and Universal Sompo General Insurance.

It is one of the International Project where more than 60 Volunteers actively participated to create awareness regarding Road Safety. Rupees 75 thousand was sponsored by TRAX to carry out various activities on Road Safety. The project involved volunteers to stuck the Reflector behind the vehicles to increase visibility in night, performed street plays on Road Safety Awareness, highlighted the Potholes in Thakur Village, & distributed 50 helmets to the pillion aged 4 to 14 years. RTO Senior PI Shri Chandrakant Ghadge handed over the helmets to the kids. Awareness through pamphlets wall stickers with emergency help line numbers were displayed in the area, in shops and residential complexes. Class to class awareness was also carried out to explain the importance & meaning of traffic signs. 3 volunteers were given training by TRAX for carrying out activities throughout the year. Shubham Tiwari, Ahaan Chaurasia Neelam Dutta were appointed as Road Safety Rangers who then trained other volunteers to carry out the activities.








  1. Rakhi Project

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:- 30/07/2019 to 14/8/2019

NSS unit takes a special task towards helping the specially disabled kids of Vallabhdas Dagra School Malad (West). The project aims to raise funds by selling different articles like Rakhis, bracelets, key chains, chocolates, anklets, envelope, other decorative material etc made by the school kids. Volunteers interacted with school children during their visit to school.  A Rakhi stall was arranged in college campus by our volunteers to sell articles for 11 days prior to Rakhi festiva;. Teachers students and parents gave overwhelming response to stall from which we could collecte ₹ 22,751 & this amount has been donated to that school. 

300 Bamboo Rakhis were also sold on the stall which was made by Tribal women of Wada region.

  1. Paper Bag Making

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:- 22nd,23rd,28th,29th,30th& 31st Aug ,29th Nov, 2nd,3rd & 9th  Dec.

Our NSS unit has taken a great initiative with a motive to reduce and control pollution caused due to the use of plastic bags. The volunteers use the old newspapers to make paper bags  and then distributed them to the local vendors. Volunteers Created awareness amongst the citizens regarding the ‘Non-Plastic movement’. We also conducted Anti-Plastic rally in Thakur Village and Samta Nagar. This year we distributed 30,000 paper bags to the fruit vegetable vendors & shop keepers of our locality. More than 100 volunteers participated in this project.








  1. Swachhata Abhiyan at Kalina

Venue: Kalina Campus, Santa Cruz (E)

Date:- 2/10/2019

No of Students: 30

India Plog Run was organised by Mumbai University in association with United Way, India. 30 Volunteers participated. This Campaign lead by Hon. VC Dr Suhas Pednekar on 2nd October on occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. 900 volunteers from various college participated in the activity.







  1. Swachhata Pakhwada at INS Hamla

Venue: Aksa Beach, Malad (west)

Date:- 7/12/2019

The project was initiated INS Hamla, Indian Navy led by Capt R K Singh & Capt Aswani Kumar Hans. NSS Volunteers participated in project by Cleaning the Aksa Beach & Area near by the beach. Total 20 Volunteers of our college & 320 Volunteers of 16 colleges actively participated in this project.  







  1. Clean-Up Drive

Venue: -Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Date:- 31/10/2019 to 6/2/2020 (every Thursday)

Our NSS unit has start Swachha Bharat Abhiyan in Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Our volunteers went to the different Pada’s of the National park & cleaned the area. Door to door campaign against plastic was conducted in padas. Plastic was collected from villagers which was segregated and then handed over to Afroz Shah and team for further processing. Awareness for Swachha Bharat was spread house to home. Around 50 volunteers joined this drive to clean the National park and is still continued.








  1. Clean-Up Drive at Dana-Paani Beach

         Date:- 2nd , 16th , 23rd  & 28th November.

In the collaboration with Mr. Afroz Shah & team our NSS unit has star BEACH CLEANING at DAANA-PAANI BEACH. Volunteers helped to clean the beach and clean the area around it. Volunteers had collected the plastic, glass pieces and other waste materials. Total 15 volunteers attended this project. 






  1. Railway E-Ticketing Awareness

Venue:  Western Sub-urban Railway Stations

Date:- 23/02/2019 to  24/03/2019 ( every Saturday & Sunday )

Railway E-Ticketing awareness was organized in collaboration with D-Link & support of western railway. Volunteer’s were allotted at different stations (Virar to Churchgate). Volunteer taught commuters, How to use E-ticketing “UTS” Application and its functions. Total 35 Volunteers participated in this awareness activity in which more than 5000 commuters were benefitted. This Project aimed Time Saving of commuters and Paper less ticketing. 






  1. Shambhar Takke Shaai Voter Awareness

VENUE: Mindspace, and Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:22/8/2019 to 20/9/2019

This project was organized by NSS unit in collaboration with Project Mumbai (NGO ). In this project volunteers had registered for new Voter ID in elect roll list through electronic medium. Volunteers promoted online registration process through National Voter’s Portal Service NVPS. Around 200 voter registration was done by our volunteers. A desk in the college was installed where 84 voter registration were done. The volunteers also actively participated in private sectors and companies near Mindspace Malad and Goregaon in which we had completed 116 voter registration.


 









College level Projects

  1. Ganesh Immersion Traffic Control

Venue: Thakur village, and Marve Beach

Ganesh immersion is huge and important festival in Mumbai. Our NSS unit regularly participate in crowd controlling in Thakur village. On 3rd,06th ,7th & 8th of September 2019, 90 volunteers did crowd controlling at BMC Artificial pond in Thakur village. On 10th Day Ganesh Chaturthi 12/09/2019 110 Volunteers did Traffic and crowd Control Duty at Marve beach in collaboration with MCGM & Malvani Police Station. The NSS Volunteers not only controlled the crowd but also managed the traffic paving to clear way of incoming vehicles to the Marve Beach for the visarjan of Lord Ganesha. People & Police official appreciated the service NSS Volunteers.

  1. Blood Donation Drive

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce, and Borivali Station

Like every year, this year also our NSS Unit had Organized the blood donation drive thrice in a year 1st June, 17th & 18th July and 5th & 6th December. Around 130 volunteers enthusiastically participated in blood donation drive and made it a successful blood drive. The drive was with support of Shri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Lions Club, Red Ribbon Club, HDFC. Through Street plays & class to class publicity volunteers appealed to donate blood. Thalassemia check-up was organized with support of Lions Club in which 904 students were screened for thalassemia. This year in three camps, 706 units of blood was collected and given to Rajiv Gandhi Blood Bank, Mira Bhayander, J J Blood Bank, Meenatai Thakre Prabodhan Blood Bank & Samarpan Blood Bank.



 





  1. River Rally at Dahisar

Venue: Rustomjee International School, Dahisar (W)

Date:- 19/09/2019

Our College had organized National Conference on River Rejuvenation and Water Management in which Water Man of India Shri Rajendra Singh participated and guided the delegates conference and students of college. NSS volunteers actively participated in rally organized at Dahisar River. They controlled traffic and Crowd during the rally. Shri Rajendra Singh was leading the rally he also addressed the gathering and gave the importance of river in everyone’s life . 75 NSS Volunteers participated along with 500 more students. 






  1. Rainwater Harvesting at Bhiwandi

Venue: Chikhalpada, Bhiwandi Village

Date:- 1/05/2019

NSS Unit in collaboration with Paani Foundation organized Rain Water Harvesting at Chakhalpada Bhiwandi. Total 18 Volunteers were participated in this project. The main motive was to make the trenches of CCT to allow water to soak inside the soil. Volunteers along with villagers prepared trenches and artificial check dams using boulders and stones. Villagers appreciated the efforts of volunteers. 






  1. Yoga Day Celebration.

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:- 21/06/2019

Yoga day is celebrated to imbibe the values of discipline for healthy lifestyle. Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried everyday. Prior to 21st June the International Yog Day volunteers were taught by the yoga instructor of college. Volunteers practice yog mudra and chalankriya. Approx 600 Students of our college also joined this project. Total 100 NSS volunteers participated in this project. Volunteers of Ambika Yog Kutir also demonstrated different Asanas practice in college Auditorium. Principal and other teaching and non teaching staff too participated in this celebration.



  1. Tree Plantation at Bhiwandi

Venue: Savaroli, Bhiwandi

Date:- 01/09/2019

This project was organized by NSS Unit in collaboration with Paani Foundation. 1200 Saplings were planted by volunteers with the help of villagers in Savaroli village. Motive behind this project was to promote Clean & Green environment. Total 35 Volunteers had participated in this project. 






  1. Voter Awareness & Election Duty

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:- 27/09/2019

Thakur college NSS Unit had organized Voter Awareness Seminar in collaboration with 154-Magathane Constituency. Seminar was conducted in the presence of Election officers Mr Shubhash Dalvi OSD MCGM and Mr. Yashwant Pedamkar Election Officer. Volunteers performed a street play on voting awareness & spread the message of the importance of one single vote. Pledge was taken by all the students present in the seminar to cast the vote during assembly election. 120 Volunteers participated in this seminar. 






  1. Election Duty

Date:- 21/11/2019

NSS Unit participated in Assembly Election duty which was given by election commission. Volunteers were allotted at different areas like Dahisar, Borivali & Kandivali. Volunteers helped disabled & Senior Citizens to reach the voting centres and guided them to the voting booths. Crowd & line controlling work was done by the volunteers at various places to help the traffic police for smooth movement of vehicles. Work was well appreciated by the election commission officers of 154 Magathane Constituency.  Total 108 Volunteers were part of election duty. 






  1. Carrer Guidance on Travel & tourism

Venue: Prabhu Upvan, Borivali (E)

Date:- 29/09/2019

This project was organized by Brahma Kumari’s. In this project, seminar was all about the career opportunity in Travels & tourism. NSS Volunteers from different colleges participated in this seminar. From our college Total 20 Volunteers attended this project. 






  1. Blind Folded Bharatnatyam

Venue: Prabhodanagar Thakkrey Ground, Mira Road

Date:- 14/11/2019

This project was organized by Harilal Nritya Academy in collaboration with Rotary Club. In this project, 1000 children performed Bharatnatyam Nritya being blind folded, constantly for 1 hr. and 30 minutes. The main activity of the project was to control the crowd & maintain the participants to their respective position. 25 volunteers participated in this project





  1. Rally for AIDS Awareness

Venue: ESIS Hospital, Kandivali(E)

Date:- 04/12/2019

This rally was organized by Hamsaya Welfare Sanstha in collaboration with NSS Unit. AIDS Rally was started from ESIS Hospital to Shatabadi Hospital. Volunteers aware the people about AIDS throughout the rally & by performing street play. Total 18 Volunteers participated in this project. 






  1. Geeta Chanting Competition

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce, and Gokuldham High School, Goregaon

Date:- 08/12/2019 & 15/12/2019

This event was organized by Chinmaya Mission. Around 500 kids from different parts of Mumbai participated along with 500 parents at Thakur College Auditorium where in the kids chanted the shlokas from Bhagwat Geeta. Competition was held among the children in which they won prizes. Volunteers helped in registration counter, to serve the food and distribute certificates of participation to children. Total 20 Volunteers participated in this project. 





  1. Anti-Addiction Campaign Umang

Venue: Salasar Unique Ground, Mira Road

Date:- 04/01/2020 & 15/01/2020

This project is organized by Team Umang & Chief Guest of this project was Dr Vivek Bindra- A Motivational Speaker. Volunteers performed street play on Nasha-bandi. Our NSS Unit got special appreciation momento for volunteering in the event. Volunteers helped for registration & crowd controlling work. 20 Volunteers participated in this project. 






  1. Run for a Cause

Venue: Thakur Village, Kandivali(E)

Date:- 12/01/2020

Run for cause a Marathon held at Thakur Village was supported by Thakur trust & other organisations. This was second year of the marathon. Volunteer supported this event by   Traffic Controlling and guiding directions to the participants. Mr. Ramesh Singh Thakur Trustee of our college felicitated our NSS unit. Total 45 Volunteers participated in this run. 






  1. Independence Day Celebration

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:- 15/08/2019

On 15th August Independence Day is celebrated every year across the country. Our college had celebrated this day very proudly. Total 130 NSS volunteers had participated in the celebration. Our honourable trustee shree V.K Singh Thakur was the chief guest for the day. The event started by hoisting of National flag, followed by our National Anthem. Our NCC cadets presented a parade and displayed their patriotism for their motherland by performing various acts. Students of different colleges of Thakur Education Trust were awarded. After the Marchpast of NCC Cadets, & in the presence of Thakur Educational Trustee V.K singh, the NSS volunteer and NCC cadets along with all the students of different institute of Thakur Group with teaching staf and non-teaching staff members took a constitutional pledge. More than 750 individuals took the constitutional pledge.




  1. Tuberculosis Awareness

Venue: Shatabdi Hospital, Kandivali(west)

Date:- 14/03/2019

This project was done in collaboration with MCGM and Shatabdi Hospital. Volunteers perfomed Street Play at various places like Shatabdi Hospital & Kandivali station. Project was to aware people about how to get precaution about T.B and what actions to take during this period. Around 7,000 peoples were awared by the Volunteers.

  1. Workshop On Disaster Management

Venue:- Thakur college of science & Commerce

This project was organized by NSS unit in collaboration with “One India One People “ on 16th march, 2019. This project was to aware volunteers about disaster management & first aid. This workshop was guided by Dr. Agarwal. The training about First aid, Fire Fighting was taken by Mr Gopalkrishnan from One India One People. Various practical session on First Aid, Evacuation & Use of Fire Extinguisher were also conducted. There were total 62 volunteer actively participated in this project. 






  1. Volunteership For college Festivals

Venue: Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:- 12/12/2019 to 14/12/2019

Our Thakur college organizes many events in which crowd controlling and security is the basic need. Volunteers were given the task to control the crowd and frisking the people at the college gate. As such the events were like college Annual day known as“TRISHNA” and the most famous intercollege competition known as “TAARANGAN”. There was an active participation of around 130 Volunteers in the event organized by college.








UNIVERSITY LEVEL


  1. SRD and NRD Selection

VENUE: Thakur College of Science and Commerce

Date:- 25/08/2019

District Level selection of Volunteers of Mumbai Western Suburb Colleges took place in our college. 58 volunteers from 37 colleges took part in selection process. The Area Coordinator Dr. Prashant Bhagat of Chetana College and ANO, MAJ.N.D. Chaudhari were present on this day for selection. Selection included performing parade, GK test, Talent Showing and interview round for the selection of SRD & NRD. 34 volunteers of our college helped to conduct the selection for SRD & NRD.













  1. Rally on Nashabandi

Venue: Azad Maidan, Churchgate

Date:- 01/10/2019

This rally was organized by Maharashtra Nashabandi Mandal from Azad Maidan to Gateway of India to aware the society about the harmful effects of tobacco and drugs. 40 volunteers participated in the project. Rally concluded at Gateway of India where a pledge was taken to remain away from Narcotics & Tobacco in presence of Varsha Vidya Vilas Secretary Maharashtra Nashabandi Mandal & by Mr. Amol Madame (Chief coordinator).


  1. Bhajan Sandhya

Venue: Gateway of India, Church Gate

Date:- 02/10/2019

Every year on occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti a Musical event of Bhajan Sandhya is organized by Mumbai University at Gateway of India. This year to celebrate 150th Birth Year of Mahatma Gandhi special program was been organised at the venue. Hon. VC Dr. Suhas Pednekar of Mumbai University and other dignitaries participated in this program. Popular Bhajans of Bapu were recited by students of Music department of Mumbai university. More than 4000 volunteers from over 100 colleges participated in this event. Rally was conducted from Churchgate & CST Station to Gateway of India which included singing of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite Bhajans. TCSC NSS unit was given task of registration & hospitality of guest & volunteer. 41 Volunteers participated in this program. 






  1. Say No to Drugs

Venue:- Shanmukhanand Hall, King Circle

Date:- 26/06/2019

This Project was organized by Maharashtra Nashabandi Mandal, Maharashtra State at Shanmukhanand Hall Sion King Circle on 26th June 2019. Mr Siddharth Jadhav, the Marathi Film Actor is the brand ambassador of Anti-Narcotics & Dr. Suresh Khade Minister of Social Justice of Maharashtra State was the special guest for the event. Lecture by Anti Narcotic Cell Commissioner was delivered to 3000 students attending the seminar. Mr Khade & Siddharth Jadhav also guided student and advised youth to remain away from drugs. 20 volunteers participated in program. Our College was awarded by Mr Siddharth Jadhav for conducting Anti Narcotic Awareness activities in College Campus.



  1. Disaster Preparedness Training Programme

Venue: Majithia College, Kandivali (w)

Date:-  07/01/2020

Project was organised by the NDRF & NSS Unit of Niranjana Majithia College. Project was about how to manage the situation around emergency case. During this project, NDRF team Trained the volunteers about CPR, Choking, Blood controlling & Splinting. Total 100 Volunteers from 50 colleges & 2 volunteers from TCSC was participated in this Training Programme.


  1. Kolhapur Flood Relief

Date:- 26/08/19 to 28/08/19

Kholapur relief Fund project was organized by NSS Cell of Mumbai university with the aim to distribute the relief materials which was collected from Nine different Colleges Volunteers distributed 2000 blankets, 2000 towels, ration & sanitary material totaling to 4500 kg . The relief material was distributed to flood effected 800 villagers of Terwad & Karunjwad of Sangli District with help of Mr. Dilip Rainkar Tahsildar. Our two Volunteers Pawan Ojha & Harsh Sahalot actively participated in  this project. Total 7 Volunteers From 4 Colleges & 2 Programme Officers Mr Suresh Lokre & Dr Ansar Pasha Shaikh led the team. The truck used for transportation was sponsored with Rs 13,000 by NSS PO Mr. Sushil Shinde. The relief and ration materials were donated by the following Nine different colleges Niranjan Majithia, Shailendra Degree College, Rizvi College, M.L Dhanukar, College Lords Universal College, S.M Shetty College, Modern College of Vashi, Usha Gandhi College, Lords Universal College of Law.






  1. Community Connect Fellowship

This project was organized by NSS Unit in collaboration with Blue Ribbon Movement. This project was conducted by Mr. Santosh Pandey & Lead by 10th batch of community connect fellowship. The main motive of this project was to develop leadership skills & making Mumbai better city. 







  1. RUN FOR VIVEKANANDA

VENUE:- JUHU BEACH, VILE PARLE

On occasion of Vivekanand Jayanti on 12th Jan 2020 Youth Day was celebrated by organising Run for Vivekanand by Dr. Rajesh Sarwadnya of Vivekananda Youth Connect Foundation. Along with the run, beach cleaning was also done by the runner and community people.  Chief guest for the event was the Honourable, Governor of Maharashtra Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari who delivered a speech on Swami Vivekanand and his message to youth. The event was attended by  IG Admin Mr. Krishna Prakash IPS and Mrs. Amruta Fadanvis. NSS P.O. & District Co-ordinator Sushil Shinde received “Appreciation Certificate” which is awarded by the Honorable Governor to NSS Mumbai University.










  1. Bachpan Bachao Andolan

Venue: Gateway of India, Churchgate

Date:-07/11/2019

The project of “Bachpan Bachao Andolan” was a great initiative taken by various government authorities. The chief guest of the programm was Justice Shri S.C Dharmadhikar Hon Judge of Bombay High Court. It was conducted for spreading awareness about child labour issues which ruins the childhood of individual. The program was started in the morning and was ended up with the rally conducted till CST In the Noon. A delightful and memorable speech deliverd by Queen of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. It was great experience for all the volunteers.There was the participation of 11 Volunteers of our college. 


  1. Connecting Dream Foundation

Venue: Chanchal Smruti, Wadala

Date:- 21st sep. , 12th dec. 2019 & 22nd feb. 2020

The Volunteers of NSS unit had attend the meetings of CDF. In this project, Ms. Sheetal had given detail idea about project to be conducted in schools and local areas. Volunteers participated in the surveys done in schools, local markets & vendors, slums, etc. We also had some activities such as web diagrams and some problem solving. We were asked to give feedbacks of the Meeting. Overall it was a great meet. There were 5 Volunteers present in this project.


  1. Yoga Training Camp

Venue: Kaivalyadham marine lines, Kalina University Churchgate.

Date:- 16th to 21st June 2019   

Kaivalyadham & Mumbai University NSS Cell jointly organized It was university level camp organized for 5 days. Here the Volunteers were taught the importance of yoga in our daily life and how the youth can make a change by encouraging the yoga practices in their life. The first three days of the camp was scheduled in kaivalyadham. Here we had seminars on various topics. This session were taken by various speakers like Ms. Meenu Jogi, Mrs. Bakul ben Patel. After the session we has yoga practice taken by the yoga instucter. There they used to teach us yoga with their meaning as well as their importance. Then the last day i.e on 21/06/2019, the International Yoga Day was celebrated at Kalina University.













7 Days NSS Special Camp

This year TCSC NSS Unit organized seven days Special Camp at Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Ashram Shala Shirole, Bhiwandi, District Thane from 21st to 28th December 2019. 125 NSS Volunteers & 16 Ex-NSS volunteers had participated in the camp accompanied by Program Officer Mr. Sushil Shinde, Mrs. Manju Singhania. The camp included activities like constructing Check dam on river, computer education to school kids, Swachata Abhiyan in village, Donating Gyanganga library of 904 Books, medical check up and awareness about Snakes to local villagers. Guest lectures of Prof. Sudhir Puranik NSS Director University of Mumbai, Mr. Ramesh Deokar PO, UOM, Mr. Nishant Jha on Human Trafficking, Mr. Anuj Balsara on Organic farming, Mr. Jagdidh Wakale on Snakes, Ms. Vanita Pandey on Child Labour and their Rights were conducted during the camp. Volunteers constructed a dam on the river of shirole on request of villagers. They cleaned the village by picking up plastic and aware ill effects of it to the villagers. A compost tumbler was also donated to the school which was installed near the kitchen for composting kitchen waste.

1)  Ms. Akshata Prakash Kadam of S.Y.B.Com got selected for National Republic Day Parade Camp 2020, Rajpath, New Delhi.




2) Mr. Ashutosh Tiwari of S.Y.B.Sc got selected for State Republic Day Parade Camp at Shivaji park, Dadar held between 16th to 26th Jan 2020.




3) Ms. Sunita Lodhi of T.Y.B.Com was selected to represent Maharashtra and Mumbai University for National Youth Convention held at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh between 12th to 16th Jan 2020.

4) Ms. Anusha Poojary of T.Y.BBI was selected for State level Avhaan camp of Disaster Management held at SRTM University, Nanded between 3rd to 12th June 2019.



5) Mr. Gaurav Agrawal of S.Y.B.Sc , Mr. Vishal Gupta of F.Y B.Com, Ms. Mitali Singh F.Y.B.Sc and Ms. Neetu Gupta S.Y.B.Sc were selected for State level EK BHARAT SHRESTHA BHARAT camp held at Mhaskal , Shahapur between 12th to 18th Jan 2020.


6) Mr. Omkar Sawant S.Y.B.Sc was selected for State level Camp SUDHRUD BHARAT SAMRUDHA BHARAT held at Mangaon, Raigad between 12th to 18th Jan 2020.

7) Mr. Adarsh Chaubey T.Y.B.Sc was awarded the Best Volunteer Award 2018-19 at District Level by Mumbai University.

8) Asst. Prof. Mr. Sushil Shinde is appointed as Camp Co-ordinator of State Republic Day Parade. He is appointed as District Co-ordinator of  Mumbai Western Suburban. He was awarded Shahaji Raje Rashtriya Puruskar by Shivaji Gyanpeeth for his work in Social Service.
