NATIONAL CADET CORPS
National cadet corps with the motto “Unity and Discipline” has been carving the social moral values of the cadets enrolled. The unit has been working since 22 years with same ideology.
The following activities were organized by the NCC unit:-
Beach Cleaning: The NCC unit of Thakur College organized a beach cleaning event on 1st June 2024 to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness among the public. During the activity, cadets cleaned Aksha Beach. A total of thirteen cadets took part in the event
.
International Yoga Competition: This event was organized on 21st June 2024 by 3 Maharashtra Battalion at DY Patil Stadium. Thousands of attendees performed various yoga asanas to promote physical fitness and mental well-being. The event aimed to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Twenty-one cadets participated in this event.
Breast Cancer Awareness Event :
Ten girl cadets of the NCC unit from Thakur College of Science and Commerce recently participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness Event, organised by 5 Maharashtra Battalion on 26th June, 2024 at DY Patil University. As part of the event, the cadets learned about the causes of breast cancer, its symptoms, preventive measures, and the importance of early detection. The battalion also shared valuable information on available treatments and emphasized the need for regular health check-ups. Through informative sessions and active participation, cadets were encouraged to spread awareness and contribute to building a healthier and well-informed community.
Blood Donation Camp was organized by Thakur College of science and commerce and NSS unit in collaboration with Lions club Mumbai and Nair hospital Blood bank. 30 cadets participated in this event on 13th & 18th July 2024.
Kargil Vijay Diwas: Thakur College of Science and Commerce NCC unit, in collaboration with the Thakur College of Engineering and Technology NCC unit, commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas 2024 with a special event on 26th July, 2024. The program was graced by esteemed chief guest Col. Kaushal Kashyap, an ex-Special Forces Officer of the Indian Army with over 20 years of experience in executing sensitive operations and responsibilities. Other guests who were present included CDR Vijay Pratap Singh, Kargil war veteran Col. Chandra Shekhar Unni, and MCPO Ramesh Chandra Singh. The event was attended by 55 girl and boy cadets of the institute.
The cadets presented a Guard of Honour and Shok Salami, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Amar Jawan statue led by the chief guest. This was followed by a special lecture delivered by Col. Kashyap. He provided insights into the background of the Kargil War, detailed accounts of various battles, and strategic points and hills captured by the Indian Army. He also encouraged the cadets by discussing future opportunities and ways to better prepare for their personal and professional growth.
Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan which was organized by Thakur College of science and commerce NCC and NSS unit. This activity was organised to aim and promote patriotism and encouraging citizens to hoist the Indian National Flag at their homes. Total 52 Cadets participated in this event on 14th August,2024.
Independence Day : The Thakur College of Science and Commerce NCC unit celebrated Independence Day along with the Thakur College of Engineering and Technology NCC unit. Cadets performed drills on the college campus and gave a Rashtriya Salute to the National Flag. The Ex-NCC cadet of the TCSC unit Cdr Ujjwal Jha conducted a Guest lecture to motivate the cadets to join the armed forces and serve the nation. A Total of 51 Cadets Participated in this event on 15th August, 2024.
National Flag Day was celebrated by the NCC Cadets on 22nd August 2024 to raise awareness about the significance of national flags. As part of the event, cadets created drawings of various national flags and presented their history, symbolism, and cultural relevance. The activity aimed to enhance research abilities, presentation skills, teamwork, and global awareness. Cadets enthusiastically shared their insights through detailed presentations on flags such as India’s Tricolor, the U.S. Stars and Stripes, Japan’s Red Circle, the U.K.’s Union Jack, and France’s Tricolor. Their creativity and research efforts were truly commendable. The event offered valuable insights into diverse cultures while helping cadets strengthen their public speaking and collaboration skills. A total of 25 cadets participated in the event.

Rann Hath Sainik was organized by Anam Prem (NGO) on 14th September 2024. Wing commander Sanjeev Kumar Goyal was the chief guest on this event. Cadets gave the guard of honor to the chief guest and Shok Salami to the martyrs at Veer Savarkar Auditorium at Dadar west. The event was organized to honor the selfless service and sacrifices made by soldiers and their families. Twenty NCC cadets volunteered for the event, which was successfully led by Maj. N. D. Chaudhari.
Puneet Sagar Abhiyan (BMC) The Cadets of the NCC unit of Thakur College of Science and Commerce participated in the beach cleaning organised by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on 21st September 2024. The beach cleaning event was organised to create awareness about cleanliness and its importance. A total of 25 cadets participated in this event.
Puneet Sagar Abhiyan is an initiative organized by the battalion to promote environmental conservation. The NCC cadets actively participated in this event. The event took place at Juhu Beach from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., on 2nd October, 2024 during which cadets engaged in a beach clean-up drive to promote cleanliness and sustainability. During the activity, cadets worked diligently to remove plastic waste and other pollutants, raising awareness about the importance of keeping water bodies clean. The initiative not only contributed to environmental protection but also instilled a sense of responsibility and teamwork among the participants. A total of 15 Cadets participated in this event.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan : The NCC cadets actively participated in this activity which was held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on 28th October, 2024 in Thakur Village. It was a cleanliness initiative aimed at spreading awareness about hygiene and sanitation. NCC cadets, along with NSS volunteers, took part in a rally and also visited the BMC hospital to promote cleanliness. A total 25 cadets participated in this activity.
The rally covered key areas of Thakur Village, where cadets carried banners and chanted slogans to encourage residents to maintain a clean environment. The visit to the BMC hospital involved interacting with staff and spreading awareness about hygiene practices essential for public health. Both NCC cadets and NSS volunteers worked together to emphasize the importance of cleanliness and community service.
Election Duty: 24 cadets of NCC unit of Thakur College of Science and Commerce participated as volunteers in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections organised by the Election Commission of India on 20th November,2024. They were stationed at 12 different voting booths in Borivali West, where they helped the senior citizens and others for the smooth functioning of the votes casting process.
76th NCC Day: The cadets of NCC unit of Thakur College of Science and Commerce participated in the celebration of 76th NCC day on 23th November, 2024. The day was celebrated by a poster making event based on themes of women empowerment and character building through NCC. 15 Cadets participated in this event.
Nutrition Day: The NCC cadets actively participated in Nutrition Day activities organized on 23th November, 2024. The event aimed at raising awareness about the importance of proper nutrition. During the event, cadets were assigned different nutrition components and tasked with researching, writing, and delivering speeches on their respective nutrients.
Cadets enthusiastically engaged in the activity, highlighting the significance of various nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. They discussed their benefits, sources, and role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This initiative not only enhanced their nutrition knowledge but also improved their public speaking and research skills. Total 15 cadets participated in this activity.
Army Day: The NCC cadets of Thakur College of Science and Commerce organized a grand celebration on the occasion of Army Day with great enthusiasm and patriotism, on 15th January, 2025. The event aimed to honor the dedication, bravery, and sacrifices of the Indian Army. The chief guest for the event, Lt. Col. Manoj Kumar Sinha, was welcomed with a Guard of Honour presented by the NCC cadets, demonstrating their discipline and commitment.
As a tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in wars, the cadets also performed Shok Shastra, paying homage to their supreme sacrifice. The solemn atmosphere reflected deep respect and gratitude towards the martyrs. Lt. Col. Manoj Kumar Sinha addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of Army Day and acknowledging the unwavering dedication of the armed forces in protecting the nation. His inspiring words motivated the cadets to uphold the values of discipline, courage, and service.
Naye Drishtikon Wala Shivir : The NCC cadets actively participated in this camp on 19th January, 2024, aimed at promoting health and wellness among cadets. The camp focused on spreading awareness about the importance of yoga and a balanced diet for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
During the session, expert instructors guided the cadets through various yoga asanas and explained their benefits in enhancing physical and mental well-being. The cadets enthusiastically performed the yoga exercises, learning how regular practice can improve flexibility, concentration, and overall fitness. Additionally, a session on diet and nutrition was conducted, where cadets were educated about the significance of consuming a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients. The importance of hydration, proper meal planning, and avoiding junk food was also emphasized.
The activity proved to be highly informative and beneficial, helping cadets develop a disciplined approach to health and wellness. A total of 27 cadets participated in this camp and also volunteered for smooth functioning of the shivir.
Short range firing practice:
The girl cadets of the NCC unit participated in a firing practice organized by 5 Mah girls Bn at I.Y. College, Jogeshwari on 18th December, 2024. Eleven girl cadets participated in the activity. During the session, the girl cadets were introduced to basic rifle handling techniques under the guidance of trained instructors. They were taught how to safely load, aim, and maintain proper posture while using the rifles. After the training, each cadet was given the opportunity to fire three practice rounds at designated targets. This hands-on experience aimed to build their confidence, improve their focus, and enhance their understanding of firearm safety and discipline. Further, a total of four cadets participated in a short-range firing practice conducted at Colaba Military Station on 25th of March 2025, 1st and 2nd of April, 2025.
Beach Cleaning activity: On the occasion of Indian Maritime Day, the Indian Maritime Organization organized a beach cleaning drive at Dadar Chowpatty Beach on 31st March, 2025, where 16 NCC cadets actively participated. During the event, cadets were given valuable insights into joining the Merchant Navy, including career opportunities and requirements. Following this informative session, the cadets were deployed for the beach clean-up drive. To ensure safety and hygiene, cadets were provided with gloves and carry bags for waste collection. Their dedication and enthusiasm contributed to making the beach cleaner and more eco-friendly. After the clean-up, refreshments were provided to all participants as a token of appreciation for their efforts. This initiative highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility and strengthened the cadets' commitment to community service.
